Why people still insist that we should play both him and Rooney?

This has got to be one of the funniest partnerships in the league. Everytime Rooney gets the ball his first inclination is to kick a long ball towards the wings and run forwards. He rarely tries a through ball to RVP.

I don't blame RVP one bit. He, like 90% of the squad! have under performed. For it to happen at that level, for so long, there must be things cracking behind the scene. He was our best player last season and a proven winner. He is probably our best player and the service he gets is appalling. If he played up front for LFC or was still at AFC this season, he would be running away with the golden boot. My opinion clearly.
We could have played Messi last night and his stats would have been poor.

Not sure its been posted yet but

"Sometimes I try to find ways to do more but in the areas I wanted to play, my team-mates were often there. This makes it difficult for me,” Van Persie told NOS.

"Then I have to change my tactics to suit my team-mates, and play outside my zone. It's a pity."

This is how RVP feels about the partnership this season. It doesnt excuse him from missing a chance we bought him to score though. Right foot or not that should have been a goal

I wonder if he'll get any reprocussions for his comments? Dropped for the next game maybe?

If it comes down to a battle of RVP vs. Moyes, I pick RVP....

Either way you look at it it's either RvP or Moyes who has to go now. Please United make the right decision.

Regardless of Moyes, RVP should probably be shifted anyway. We can't rely on him to be fit and firing every week and he seems to lack the bollocks when the going gets tough. Acts like a little bitch at times, spent too long at Arsenal.

Him and Rooney don't work together. Rooney is going to stay, could see us selling RVP if he kicks up a fuss in the summer if a club outside the Premier League offers a decent amount for him.

Sky showed a graphic earlier and his gpg ratio is higher this season than last season. Amazing that he's scoring at a better rate despite us playing like shit and creating hardly anything for him. The big difference was our win ratio. Something like 74% in the games he scored in last season compared to 53% this.

 De Gea made the third most passes to RvP in the entire game with 2! Top service United, you really outdone yourselves this time.

Well if that's true then I think that backs up the theory that this lack of a partnership is to do with tactics rather than anything.

fecking hate it when players do shit like that, do your bloody well paid job and stop blaming others.

I don't care if Moyes is shit our players should be giving it 100% for the fans and because they're professionals.

Having to adjust your tactics? Imagine that

They're all giving 100%, you actually have to commend the players on how they've acted so far. Any other club and they'd all be sulking around, speaking out in public, and there would be clear mutiny against the manager. Here they're all still giving their all, working hard on the pitch, listening to the manager, but there's only so much they can do when the manager is so bad and gets them playing that way. We'd be better off if the players informed the manager and did their own thing, but that wouldn't be professional now would it?

I thought it was aimed at Danny Welbeck, as he got in the way of his shot which was going on target, and then Robin just sat on the ground for ages.

I think your mixing the two shots up. When the ball hit Welbeck, Robin more or less got to his feet straight away. The one where he laid on the floor for ages was when he put his shot over the bar.

I can understand him being frustrated.

He's too good to languish in mid-table, managed by a sub-par manager.

Bollocks you have to commend them, they've performing to way below their ability to a level way beyond the manager's tactics. Even if they are sent out to play an out-of-date formation and dull tactics, thre's no excuse for not being able to make a simple pass to a team-mate.

I'll happily acknowledge that Moyes has made a royal cock-up of things so far, but that doesn't give the players a free-ride. It is their fault as well as his.

I'm not too worried about RvP. Our relationship was only ever about business.

Yep, he was never a long term thing. Just a fling. It worked for both parties, too. That's the last time City will be blown away in a title race for a good few years.

He should talk lesser and learn how to finish the sitters he misses in every single match these days.

Unfortunately many of the big clubs will be seeking to sign strikers this summer, so there's likely to be a dearth of quality replacements available to us. Mandzukic looks quite likely to be squeezed out by the arrival of Lewandowski in the summer, and although he's not particularly prolific, he might be our best option.

Okay if this is the case, why don't we play RVP deep and Rooney as the number 9, seeing as how Rooney is woeful in the number 10 role.

In a discussion about last night's quotes John Hartson has just accused RVP of "slaughter his team mates".

Perhaps PSG or Atletico would take him/Hernandez as part of a deal for Cavani or Diego Costa. I've never been a big fan of Cavani, but we seem to be linked with him quite a bit.

Needs to stop making excuses for himself. He's a top player. Top players produce, and if they aren't gelling with an approach to the game, then top players adjust.

You wouldn't hear Ronaldo saying "Players were in my area, wah wah :'(". I'm a big VP fan - but he needs to cop on.

I would imagine a few of his teamates aren't particularly happy with him just at the moment.

I would imagine that most of his team-mates are well aware of his contribution last season and won't be at all surprised that RVP is unimpressed by the subsequent change in the balance of power, towards Rooney. The queue of players wanting to leave the club in the summer will be a lengthy one; assuming the current manager remains in place.

Chelsea are looking for a striker and if they buy Van Persie, they'd be unstoppable. I don't think we'll put up that much of a fight with Van Persie as we did for Rooney. :nervous:
