Rooney has played well as a lone #9 scoring against Bayern, Milan, Arsenal and Roma and very rarely let us down in that role in the big CL games. Van Persie's sole contribution in the CL knockouts is missing a sitter and failing to score home and away.

Like I said, I think Rooney is just about the better finisher but RVP's touch and hold up play is better and in games where we are under the cosh he'd be able to bring our attacking players into the game better than Rooney could.

What was that @Mel_F ?
His account got hacked (im assuming anyway) but the tweet got deleted. I managed to screenshot it.

If anything about this RVP is not happy anymore at United stuff is true, I hope he'll get the same treatment from the fans as Rooney. Because I'am feeling like there are double standards for these players atm.

I don't think Iniesta or David Silva would enjoy playing under Tony Pulis so I think with RVP it's no different under Moyes. The best players in the world will not stand for playing under coaches like sam alardyce. RVP has every right to be gutted. Unless Moyes brings in an innovative coach in the summer then I can't see other players of the technical caliber of RVP wanting to even consider coming here

Mata. We're Manchester United not Moyeschester United, thankfully.

The reasons would be slightly different though. If Van Persie wanted out when we were much better than now or questioned the clubs ambition then maybe he would get the same criticism.

I'm all for a bit of Moyes hate but, if he's not "happy" then players like him should be as much to blame for this crap we're enduring!

Not everyone gets a chance to play for a club like United, stop being a petulant tit and get on with things! One bad year does not change who or what we are!

That might be a scarcely legitimate statement if there were any similarities between Moyes and Pulis.

Who is being petulant? The media are just doing what they always do, and I'm pretty sure there has been stories about a lot of our players being unhappy. I'm sure a lot of them are, but that's probably more to do with the awful league campaign more than anything. Rvp is still our top scorer and he's been isolated in many games he played in this year, so if he is a bit frustrated you can't really blame him for that. Not buying that he's unhappy at the club though.

I said IF....IF he is being petulant.

I'm going to start writing my posts in bold from now on. I got accused of wanting Rafael out of the club last night when all I said was that he's overrated on here by some

If he's been kicking puppies in his spare time then he isn't fit to wear the shirt.

RVP is a winner, and to think any of our players are "happy" with our league position would be a surprise.

To say he is unhappy with the club in general though is i'm sure untrue.

I don't understand why people are doubting RVP. I have seen nothing this season in his mentality/body language which shows that a)he wants to leave and b)we are willing to let him go. He is still the best striker in the premier league when fit, and we need him upfront. Let Rooney/Mata/Januzaj whoever be the legs around him, we just need RVP to bang the goals in with every half chance he sniffs out.

Top professionals like RVP don't think the way fans think they do. I'd say that he'd be having more of a go at himself than anything that's going on at the club right now. Not that it's his fault that injury has creeped in this season, but he'll be frustrated at that I'm sure. He comes across as quite the perfectionist and he'll want to get us back on track with his goals as soon as possible, not leave. Especially at the age he's at now.

Third year counting he has bottled a crucial sitter in the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

2012 vs AC Milan
2013 vs Real Madrid
2014 vs Olympiacos

In 2011 he got that red card against Barcelona as well. It's worth noting that De Gea made 2x the amount of passes that van Persie did in the second half (8 vs 4)...

Van Persie has never been great consistently in the Champions League, but what kind of service was he getting? It's a miracle he's scored a good amount of goals this season with the poor service.

You can't blame him for that miss. I'm sure he'll be disappointed. But he had little time on the ball today. That plays a part in your sharpness. I agree with MoneyMay.

Absolutely, it was very good chance which he should've scored really, but the miss was magnified by the fact we created so little. Fellaini and Vidic missed good chances at the weekend, but it's forgotten fairly swiftly because we won 2-0.

RVP must seriously be considering his options come summer if Moyes stays. Even Van Gaal has come out and said he no longer enjoys playing for us. Wouldn't surprise me if he left and was replaced by Crouch.

For those who are dutch, RvP is interviewed atm at NOS.

For the english lads,

Robin said he was unhappy with the game, we played bad but they didn't create much either. The chance I had went pretty good but the shot was to hasty and if you only get one chance in a match like this...you need to score it.

But now it gets interesting. Jack van Gelder (interviewer) asked if Robin feels frustrated to be isolated all the time and because of that feels the urge to drop back.

This is RvP's reply: I do, because certain team mates keep playing in my area and constantly moving to me which makes it extremely hard for me to also play there. I now constantly have to make a run to a different position to avoid this.

Interview: Do you know what is wrong with this United?

RvP: Yeah but, I won't point fingers, because im not like that.

---------------

In the first part he is talking about Rooney, and of course as a professional you can't do this but he is pretty much saying "yeah there are certain people who are causing this". Else you would have said "no we lost as a team".

He is basically saying, yes there are but.....i can't tell you.

That red card was pro-Barcelona reffing and nothing besides it.

Today he fecked up that chance that should've been converted, sure, looking at the amount of service he gets though and how many touches ( 12 in first half, thanks Joemo ) he could've forgotten how to swing his boot at the ball though. De Gea making more passes than our striker doesn't really undermine RVP's position but it speaks volume about how shit we've been today. Was pretty much the same story on the weekend against CP, very few passes, touches, whatever, we're just isolating him with our awful play.

It is strange that he's consistently scored against the top teams in the league even when he gets just one genuine chance in the game and yet he can't seem to do the same in the CL. Not sure what the second point is about though. He made so few passes because he was given the ball so little. It's a travesty that someone with so much skill on the ball sees the ball so rarely.

If this is true then he's most certainly leaving in the summer no two ways about it. Can't blame him when he's starved of any semblance of service. Shame things had to turn out this way though. Just can't imagine what kind of hideous monster DM will conjure with his neanderthal tactics.

You think he has been playing a lot further forward than he was last season? He used to drop deep and help with the build-up last season, now sits at the top and barely gets involved. Feels like we are under utilizing him. Not taking advantage of the strengths because of which Sir Alex bought him.
