I was surprised that he didnt make the bench last night. I didnt like the fact that he was close and could feature and then in the pre-match again to be told he is close. I wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt play on Saturday. It sounds more serious. Im a bit disappointed with the communication from the Manager around when he should be ready for action.

No RVP for Newcastle, we're truly fecked now. I'm having a headache at the thought of Welbeck starting again.

None of the 6 forward players who started yesterday should play against Newcastle... Moyes needs to start getting tough with the players.

Who would we end up playing then? Rooney is suspended, Van Persie is injured.

We'd end up having to play Young... and lord knows we don't want that!

I hope to feck hes fit for the weekend

Edit: is he definitely out?

What option does he has though?

Nani, Young, Adnan and Zaha can all play on wings, I would go with Nani and Adnan for the Newcastle game and give Young and Valencia a game on Wednesday. Hernandez will take RVP role and Kagawa will play behind, we have got a decent squad, Moyes just needs to mix it a bit.

I would honestly play Young on saturday. I'd tell him this is his last fecking chance otherwise he's off in January.

He literally cannot be any worse than either Valencia or Welbeck last night.

Frankly, it sends a daft message that these players can perform like that one game and retain their place for the next.

He will go with Hernandez with Kagawa behind him and Adnan on the left.

I would start this

Hernandez
Nani-Kagawa-Januzaj

Kawaga was rubbish against Spurs and okay against Everton... frankly, he's done nothing to retain his place either.

I'd shove Januzaj behind Hernandez and put Nani and Young on the wings. Or I'd play a midfield three of Jones/Clev and Ando and tell them to run their balls off.

Agree that the players need a shake up, but I just can't stand Young - personal opinion though, so you're right he could come in. Young won't be leaving in January though, because his wage bill is far too high - he will be very very difficult to move on unless he's willing to take a pay cut.

I personally think we should go with the following:

-------------Hernandez--------------
Januzaj--------Kagawa----------Nani
---Jones---Fellaini/Cleverley/Ando-----
Evra-----Vidic------Evans------Rafael

How many of them have started recently though? Nani, for however decent he was against Leverkusen, was dropped for these two PL matches. I haven't seen Zaha since god knows when. And considering the way our midfield is, I doubt if Hernandez would be able to do much given the service we have been providing to our strikers.

Jones will start in the midfield, that's for sure. And Clev was rested yesterday, so I am expecting him to start as well. For the rest, I have absolutely no idea!

I do worry about the weight of expectation being placed on Van Persie's shoulders by how bad we've been lately.

Let's not forget Robin is a striker. He may be a better rounded footballer than virtually anyone else at Old Trafford but he still thrives on service and at the moment the team simply isn't creating.

Robin is not Roy of the rovers. He is not going to dribble from our box to the opposition box and win us games all on his own.

I've said all season our problem is not the strikers. Therefore getting back our best striker is not going to solve it.

Well that's the point isn't it? These players are the ones who don't have a place in the first XI, so can be fired up in an attempt to get one.

I think if Moyes started Nani and Young on saturday, and lit a fire under their arses, they'd both play well. I mean, if Welbeck and Valencia are allowed to start again after that showing... then what's the point!?

They haven't featured much but with Rooney suspended and RVP injured Moyes will have to bring to them into the team.

They're both capable of doing a good job but I would like to see Kagawa in his preferred position. With Rooney suspended Kagawa has been given a chance to prove himself so I am expecting a decent game from him.

I don't think that is fair on him at all. If there is any player in our team who can create something out of nothing, it's Van Persie. To say having him back won't solve our problems is just wrong. It certainly won't solve all of them, god knows that. But with RVP, we have a better chance of scoring. Scoring wins games. Therefore to say it won't have an impact is just plain wrong.

Well, normal course would have been that Nani should have started yesterday after being rested during the weekend and seeing Welbeck against Spurs. But how Welbeck managed to get a start again last night is what baffles me.

Even I would like to see an attack of Nani/Januzaj/Kagawa/Zaha, but I have no idea on what basis Valencia keeps making the match day squad. And then the situation for United has become so precarious that I wonder if the young ones would get a chance now when every point is important to us.

There are stories going around that he is not very happy at United. I know Mark Lawrenson is a plonker, but he is a friend of Moyes. I've heard Lawrenson say twice on Irish radio that SAF promised RVP that he would not be retiring for a few more seasons and thats what convinced him to join us. Apparently he is not happy now and is a complex character and not giving his best in training.

Hearing lots of mocking from opposition fans regarding Van Persie today, 'dinosaur training methods' or something along those lines..

Don't believe the VP unhappy stories really. It's not like he's been under performing this year he was in good goal scoring form despite niggly injuries.

The bigger concern is that he's missed 4 games in a row now, and Moyes hasn't really got a clue when he's back.

He's been out for close to a month now and at every press conference Moyes has refused to rule him out.

True, our medical team don't seem to be the best among the european teams.

Is there anything we're any good at?

How long before the conspiracy theories start to blame Moyes for a player whose injury prone being injured?

Thats whats really weird about it. It like he's trying to play is down when its clearly not just a niggle.

fecking Moyes eh? .... you'd never have gotten Fergie claiming a player was '2 weeks' away from fitness would you?

Manager playing down injury is weird now? Have you just recently tuned into football?

What if he puts Fellaini at 10? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well, everyone's been complaining that that's his best position and that we're fooling ourselves trying to play him in MF.

So I guess if Kagawa is out it would be pretty logical, wouldn't it?

Seen this too. Sounds like bollocks to me. SAF was notorious for not saying anything about exactly when he would retire. Strikes me as unlikely he would have fed RVP that line - and for that matter it seems unlikely RVP would have regarded it as some kind of condition for signing. Good story, though - more fuel for the fire.

Fergie in his book admitted he told RVP he had no intention of retiring and apologised to him when he did...

What a shite argument.

Emile Heskey's best position is as a striker. I wouldn't buy him and play him as one though.
