In today's world. 9 times out of 10 clubs reach an agreement with the player before the club.

He's gonna have so many goals put on a plate for him. Just imagine RVP with the easy chances that our players have missed the past seasons. Amazing finisher and arguably top 5 best strikers in the world.

Combining with another top 5 striker in the world

Im surprised and delighted that the deal has been done. The passing of the medical is a mere formality. Im looking forward to seeing him alongside Rooney,Wellbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov, whoever we pair him up with. Its going to be an awesome attack.

What makes this better is that Van Persie was never really a cnut, as opposition players often are. He was always classy, never said anything stupid, and kept to himself. A good professional. Always found it very difficult to hate him, especially when he's such a good footballer.

I'd imagine all of our attacking players will benefit from playing alongside him.

He did have a few cnut-ish moments, like last season for instance, nothing too horrible just something you shouldn't be proud of,but yeah generaly he wasn't an asshole,.

They should all be able to pick up something from him, but other than that it's not like he signed with us to coach :P, and it pretty much all depends on whether or not he and Rooney can gel.

I'm glad the season's long and rotations come into play, because the way our squad is right now I can't bring myself to name a starting XI, I'd feel bad for leaving any player out, but you can't play them all at once :)
It's gonna be hard enough on FIFA, but imagine SAF's dillema right now :D (although I'm sure it's one he doesn't mind having).

Dont be.

They feel good about it. Their priority is the financial part of the club. They will be happy for 4th place again as that guarantees money from UCL.

Theres no need to be a dick about it. I'm glad we signed him but no need to stick it to their fans. Sometimes the arrogance of some of our fans bothers me.

I think we'll finally be epic in Fifa.

---------88-------- (RvP)
-86------90-----85 (Nani Rooney Valencia)
------84---83------ (Carrick Scholes)
84----87---84---78 (Evra Vidic Rio Rafael)
---------81---------- (De Gea)

With Kagawa (85) etc on the bench. Or that's the ratings i predict anyways!
Cocks truly out boys, I'm gonna get Fifa 13 :DDD

Seriously it's wonder epic news, we'll have

Rooney, RvP, Nani, Kagawa, Valencia, Welbeck, Young, Hernandez all competing for attacking spots, probably in that order. All of these players are epically versatile as well;
Rooney RvP can play #9 or #10, or even as wide forwards, Nani anywhere across the '3' in a 4231, same with Kagawa. Valencia/Hernandez aren't but they doesn't need to be since we already have so many versatile players...

Not arrogance. It's true. It's the same as us winning at any cost. Different priorities. They want to win alright, but with the best economical way. It aint happening that way these days, esp with City, Chelsea and PSG, even Real and Barca are very rich. What I can see is that they want to stabilize their club finanically first. Maybe success will come later. And I'm not referring this to their fans though.

feck sake.

As if that would ever happen.

And you're benching Valencia who was our best winger last season, to stick a striker on the wing?

Apologies then, I took your comments as being a swipe at their fans.

I have to say I'm surprised, it seems a bit bizarre because he's been with Arsenal for so long, and he's the 2nd Arsenal player we've bought in what, 60 years? Ever? The only person I saw mentioned was Frank Stapleton.

I could be wrong but I think Fergies first signing was Viv Anderson from Arsenal, but you are right there certainly hasn't been too many players coming to United from Arsenal down through the years.

tis an odd one in some ways: over the age at which we thought we'd shell good money out for, although that was never set in stone. His injury history, and as welcome as he is, most of us wouldn't've thought the position a current priority. Must say though, it has perked my expectations of the new season up a fair bit, along with Vidic's, Ando's and Cleverley's return to say nothing of Kagawa and the two young uns. Things are looking up. Nice to put one over the arse too as well as him snubbing the Magoos.

Amazing news this, can't wait for the season to start!

Don't really get the age issue either. He was 29 only last week, his game doesn't rely on pace too much, and he actually hasn't played that many games in his career, so his body is probably fresher than your regular 29.

His injury record with our luck with them though :nervous:

He'll still only be 29 when the season ends. If he signs a four year deal, he'll still only be 32 at the end of his contract.

The injury thingy is worrying, but he's too good a player to pass up, especially if he could have ended up with any of our rivals. And even when he does come back after injury (*touchwood), he gets up back to speed quite quickly, unlike Rooney who seems to take almost 10 matches before finding form.

Well, it was actually a little swipe at their fans, but not at all of them. But some. And if you read this thread, you know who.

Yes, I know exactly to whom you are referring, and feel free to go ahead and take a swipe at him anytime :)

It does seem to be a decent one among a few options, though. I think it might turn out to a 4-3-3 like the above in tough prem fixtures or in Europe, where we may need three in midfield..

This is true, surprised I didn't see anyone mention him, before my time unfortunately. That one had to go to a tribunal to set the price, I guess nothing is easy when you try to move from Arsenal to United.

Anyone know any other players that moved from Arsenal to United besides Anderson and Stapleton?

Shocked.

I'm one of those who thought we could have done without him but having practically signed him the excitement begins.

It's also worth for season the arsenal fans reactions, apparently he's not very good now etc.

Petesortey = :lol:

Everton - United: 5-5

We finally brought someone big enough to make Rooney worry about his first team place.

Yea its pretty funny how arsenal fans are trying to pass him off as a one season wonder now. I must say that I used to hate Van Persie as he just had one of those faces id like to punch. Saying that I really began to appreciate him over the last few years and am.excited about the signing.

Not since Ronaldo have we had a player who scores so many cracking goals from outside the box (either through free kicks or long distant shots).

Oh...and he HAS to take all our freekicks.

Are his free-kicks really that good or he just was Arsenal's main free-kick taker because other players were shit at that?

Manchester United are pleased to announce they have sold the full allocation of Season tickets for the 2012/2013 season. Probably.

£200,000 per week Sky sports news are saying. Would that be higher than Wayne? Think he is on £180,000.

We have to get an interview ASAP.

It would probably make pete combust, but what the hell.

It's fair to say everyone will be watching the game on Monday, including non United fans.

Thank feck I got Sky then, Streams will be laggy as shit on monday.
