I remember thinking he was acting like a cnut last year but I can't remember what the incident was. Anyway it was the type of thing you don't give a shit about if it's your player and exaggerate when it's not. I'm sure I'll have no trouble learning to like him.

I remember him having an exchange with Krul when they played Newcastle at the end of the match. Arsenal had just won in the last minute, and RvP was a bit of a knob and started something, can't remember exactly what, but like you say, you don't care when he's your player.

Him vs Krul?

Squad numbers have to be submitted on Friday, I'd imagine they'll take nine from poor ol' Berbatov and give it to van the man.

LOL...
Arsenal fans from last season :

Still think he's a bit of a cnut, but he's our cnut now. And the way he turned down City and Juve to come to us certainly does him no harm.

Definitely weird. Very weird. Guy was the face of Arsenal last season and now he's gonna be playing for us! Still find it difficult to believe this is actually happening. Laughed the first time I heard the rumors.

As for what he does on the pitch, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little worried about his injury history but there's no doubting his class. Really gonna be interesting to see how he clicks with our other players.

SAF really should sit down with him when he's signed and convince him to quit Holland - too much of an added injury risk.

Really didn't want him, but now he's here hope he does great.

Cant see Hernandez gettin many games now.

Very exciting signing.

For the first time since Ronaldo we can ask who is our best attacker and we have two genuine options. On top of that - we stole him from Arsenal and got him ahead of City.

I think that with the firepower we've got we will win the league and score a lot of goals.

I do wonder though how SAF will line us up in Europe. Our best form in Europe the past decade or so has come from playing 451. Can we play Rooney and RVP and not lose out in midfield? Rooney out wide? Or Rooney dropping even deeper? Or do we stick to having Rooney and RvP upfront in a 4411, and have our wingers come inside more frequently to assist the midfield?

I have to say I'm surprised, it seems a bit bizarre because he's been with Arsenal for so long, and he's the 2nd Arsenal player we've bought in what, 60 years? Ever? The only person I saw mentioned was Frank Stapleton.

So, I guess we can say that Berbatov is very unlikely to play for us again. His goal scoring record deserves better, I can't understand why a club like Everton or Newcastle wouldn't want to spend £5-10m on someone who can lead the league in goals.

Does this mean we won't be seeing much 433? Surely you have to play RVP up front, so does Rooney go into midfield? I can't believe we'd put him back on the wing, not with the position so stocked and Welbeck playing there too. Maybe we'll see some 433 when rotating, and hopefully away in Europe, I thought we'd learned that lesson thoroughly, SAF converted me and now I'd like to convert him back!

So 4231 it likely is, which is Carrick's best formation anyway, and he's one of our most crucial players. Rooney will play behind RVP and Nani, Kagawa, Young and Valencia rotating for the positions on either side of Rooney. Needing only 2 central mids is good as everyone in midfield except Carrick tend to miss a fair number of games for many reasons [Giggs, Anderson, Cleverley and Fletcher].

And let's not forget there are a lot of games to go around, Welbeck and Chicharito will get 25-30 games at least, and more if they can help us win in the Cups.

Every team in Europe will be cringing to see up acquire Van Persie, with Vidic back we should have the best defense in the world again, or very close to it, and now we can boast the best two attackers in England.

I actually feel sorry for Arsenal fans.

It must be torture to see your best players leave the club summer after summer. Who is going to be their new captain, I wonder.

Its going to take some adjusting to get used to seeing him in a united shirt :)

Though the official site said subject to a medical and personal terms, so is there still a chance that this could fall through if an agreement on wages with RVP himself isn't achieved?

That would be quite funny

In today's world. 9 times out of 10 clubs reach an agreement with the player before the club.

If I were Wenger I'd make Arshavin the captain. Guaranteed to leave for a big fee then.

I'm still in shock that we are getting him. It's like when we signed Michael Owen.

Dont be.

They feel good about it. Their priority is the financial part of the club. They will be happy for 4th place again as that guarantees money from UCL.

Vermaelen will get the armband. That's obvious. He is vice-captain anyway.
