Robin van Persie | 2012-14 Performances

It's lazy journalism like this that makes it hard to believe:

Van Persie is believed to have blamed the training methods for the injury, while Moyes later hinted that the player and the staff did not see eye-to-eye over how serious it was.

"I don't think his injury is that bad," Moyes said in the aftermath of the Manchester derby. "We felt he was going to make it but he just felt something in his groin.

"He'd actually done some training in the last couple of days but he just felt it when he made any sharp movements and didn't want to aggravate it so we took that decision."

Where is the actual hint here? I can usually read between the lines quite well, but where exactly is the hint? Also, not trying to give the team excuses, but it could explain a little why they are lacking so much flair in attack if they are being worked much harder than under Fergie? They're fecking knackered!

Goal.com and Wayne Veysey are a deadly combination.

Here's what the genius said about our RVP interest last season.

fact93_ecoB: “Why have Man Utd not bid for RVP?”

Wayne Veysey: “I have been told that Van Persie is not a priority signing for Manchester United. They are more interested in recruiting Lucas Moura, Nuri Sahin andLeighton Baines. They are happy to be linked with Van Persie because it appeases the fans that the Glazers are willing to sanction marquee signings as well as emerging stars with sell on value (like Lucas).

“United would not be willing to pay more than £10 million for a player who turns 29 next month and has only a year remaining on his contract, given that he would demand a salary on a par with Wayne Rooney. A £25m move for Van Persie? That will not happen.”

Can't believe people reading into this bullshit. The sport scientists, the same ones at the club last year are the ones that prescribe the training loads for the players, not Moyes.

I generally agree with you that he's not reliable, but he has got some Arsenal news spot on recently which makes me believe he does have some sources. I reckon he makes the rest up though because that's a contractual obligation for working at Goal.com.

Great goal he took and hopefully this leads to a flood of goals from him moving forwards. We need to get him better supply.

There was one that had me scratching my head, it was after a DDG kick and I'm not talking the ones where things are rushed. DDG collected the ball, looked who was available and aimed for RVP ... He was offside.

I blame the bloody internationals. But worse in this case as RVP did not even need to play.

They rarely do though. I genuinely think that despite clearly being the better individually they should be rotated more with Hernandez and Kagawa.
This has been a problem for us for a few seasons now. We rely too often on individual brilliance to win matches rather than a cohesive, controlled team performance.

I reckon the reason why he so eagerly ran over to Januzaj after scoring was because that was the first time in a long time anyone actually created some form of chance for him. We're so shit that we can't even create for him.

Nani laid a good chance on for him in the box. Carrick gave him a long ball that he improvised nicely with. He scored. And he hit the bar. Hardly starved.

Manchester United shouldn't be feeding their frontman three balls in a game. RvN probably got more with Kleberson and Djemba in midfield.

Agree.

Its true that a top striker should be looking to have a conversion rate between 25 per cent and 33 per cent, but a top club should be looking to make more chances for their number 9 than 3 especially if two of them aren't really clear cut.

Fergie said he assured RVP he would not be retiring....Then had to apologise to him for breaking his word/lying

And now we're in the position we're in....

Be interesting to see how things develop with RVP

Whoops... cheers Fergie anyway. Not sure if RvP would have joined up with Moyes, Round and Phil Neville had he known.

Feel for him. Left Arsenal after being with them for so long, looking like they'll never win anything, so he comes to United, wins a title and then is put back into almost an identical position as he was at Arsenal, while they sign a world class player finally and look like they'll compete for the title

Something isn't right with RVP, do wonder if he's thinking this isn't what he signed up for.

You don't have to wonder about it, it is exactly that but at the same he won't bitch about it, he's a pro, he'll carry on and try to do his best. SAF played a big part in signing him and his performances. Not surprised to see him not play as well as last season, not a lot of our players are at the moment.

What today shows is that the guy is the lowest of the low. Negotiating with you lot from January, stabbing Wenger in the back, and then proceeding to talk about the little boy inside him whilst beaming from ear to ear.

I don't have any problem with United as a whole, but I do hope you go through a period of transition until he departs, after which point you win something immediately.

I wish him all the worst.

Ok.

Not to worry, he already has a league medal safely kept in his cabinet and had experienced the feeling of lifting a PL trophy. I recalled he said it was heavy

If he negotiated without Wenger's knowledge then that's truly sad to hear. Wenger really stood by him all those years of his troubles on and off the pitch, even when people were telling Wenger to replace him. Goes to show you really can't trust anything these footballers say anymore. Move on though cause your team has obviously done that.

Why are Arsenal fans much more bitter than Wenger when it comes to RVP ? You should follow his example.

Wenger doesn't have the luxury of being bitter over something like that; he's the manager and should move on. Whatever he feels about the entire incident I'm sure we'll know sometime in the future though. But it's no doubt that he didn't want to lose RVP.

It's never stopped other managers from being just like that when one player who has annoyed them left them. Wenger has been nothing but "nice" regarding RVP, he didn't wanna see him leave for sure.

Sad Robin? He's said himself, since the appointment of Moyes and during our up and down form, that he wants to stay beyond his current contract. The little boy inside him is telling you all to stop talking out of your arse.
