What?

Also, if you mean what I think you are getting at, I don't understand how people have this idea. People are looking for things wrong with this team and the players and will make up stuff even when the facts in front of them prove them wrong.

Might explain why they don't seem to be on the same wave length.

Again, just speculating, don't take it too seriously.

Does anyone else love it when he goes a bit mental and wants to fight everyone? It's bloody hilarious... though I don't think I'd fancy our eleven on that pitch against that Stoke eleven... we'd have needed Vidic, Fellaini and Rafael "loco" Da Silva out there...

Might be just me, but does anyone sense than Van Persie generally don't acknowledge each other in the celebrations? They both set up each other, yet they didn't acknowledge each other for either goal.

You mean with Rooney? Yes, I noticed that too, they celebrated with evry other player, van Persie was running to thank Nani after his goal, but it might be a coincidence though.

I love that thing he does with his head. Shaking it about, like some wrestler giving it a bit of verbal. I remember that fracas against Newcastle when he was at Arsenal when he was giving it to Tim Krul, after Newcastle insisted on time wasting from about 55 minutes into the game, until Arsenal netted a winner. RVP was loving that. Surprised he didn't get sent off in that game for how heated he was getting.

He's an explosive guy when someone gets under his skin. I like that about him. I'm surprised he's not been sent off for us yet. He certainly plays dangerously close to it sometimes.

Haven't really noticed the celebration thing though. I seem to remember RvP and Rooney celebrating together quite alot this season. They certainly did against Southampton.

Surprised no one has mentioned his post match interview where he's stated he doesn't know where the media get it from but he's very happy at the club and with the manager and training.

Yeah, I just watched that. He really couldn't have been more emphatic.

Some papers reporting that our Robin had a row with Shawcross in the tunnel after the match that led to a booking for Shawcross. Anyone know the details?

Didn't Shawcross clip Robin's heels as the players were walking towards the tunnel for half time? I presume Shawcross was carded for that.

It all kicked off before a corner was to be taken and carried on when the ref blew for half time. My mate said that's why the people around him in the Stretford End were booing, because Shawcross was carrying on as they went off. Obviously the entire cohort of the Stretford end may have had different reasons to boo.

I saw the handbags in the penalty area on the telly but I missed the incident you describe. Van Persie isn't one to take that kind of crap lightly.

Can that be a sign for all the Arsenal fans on this forum to finally shut it now he's said he's happy? Or maybe they are going to try to "read between the lines" and make some shit up about him lying to the media and he is in fact sad being at United.

I love that about him, he really doesn't tolerate any nonsense. He might not be at his best at the moment but it was great to see him getting angry and showing real passion.

Obviously people are going to make up these kind of sensational stories.

They started with Rooney, but Moyes always said they were never going to sell and now he's playing like nothing ever happened. They've been carrying on about van Persie and despite not hitting anywhere near his best form, he's still scoring goals for us. Target the most gifted and mentally strong players and they'll rise to it.

I'm sure he's not delighted that he's no longer under the management of Sir Alex and being coached and tactically tuned by Rene Meulensteen, two people he lauded after a tremendous season last time round but his perception on his future isn't going to change overnight. He moved to become successful and it'll take more than 2 months of rollercoaster form to change his mind, that's for sure.

He's just saying something he was taught to say by the PR men at the club when he was a teenager. Means nothing in fairness.

While they were walking off the pitch Shawcross shouldered v. Persie's back.

Or maybe, he's happy?

He probably is. I'm just saying that even if he wasn't happy he wouldn't say "I find David Moyes and co.'s training underwhelming in comparison and am enjoying my football less because of that". He'd say the media-friendly thing.

So, it is actually possible to deny rumours about being unhappy and wanting away? Hmmm, how come that logic doesn't apply to Rooney?

This is a possibility of course, much like Rooney avoiding the question of whether he will sign a new contract or not; we can't tell really. Moyes says he isn't unhappy at the club either, so let's hope they are both telling the truth in this instance.

RVP is a more cultured and intelligent man than Rooney so if he was unhappy I wouldn't expect him to give that a way in an interview. He left Arsenal so he could win trophies, he's had a taste of that, he will want more. We are a team in transition now, that is not what he signed up for, I can imagine him being less than pleased. In all honesty he is stuck here now, we won't sell and he hardly come out and say he wants to leave. The team are better than they have been showing and I expect them to improve going forwards, Moyes teams have always started slowly. The title may be beyond us this year (never say never) but we still have 3 cup competitions to play for, that is more than enough to keep his head up.

Ref booked Shawcross in the changing room, Hughes confirmed this. Had something to do with him pushing RVP. Apparently it kicked off again during the post match interviews.

Anyone else slightly concerned that there might actually be something to those rumors that he's unhappy with Moyes training?

The fact he's starting picking up these niggling injuries that he's managed to avoid for the past 3 years, almost the minute Moyes comes in, is hardly reassuring :nervous:
Yes, I'm concerned too. VP is not performing at the level we know he can when he plays for United but he's at the top of his game for Holland.

In the past we've read in the press of various players being unhappy/at loggerheads with the manager/coach and even though everyone has denied it the rumours have eventually turned out to be true.

Losing Fergie was hard enough for the players but losing their coaches too has probably taken it's toll. Different players will show the effect in different ways. VP is a strong character and I suspect voicing his concerns/disapproval or whatever is the route he could well have taken. It might benefit Moyes and United to listen to what he is saying.

We just need him to be more involved. If you accept that our midfield is pretty terrible, then we're reliant on the front areas to provide as that's where the class of our team is. And for all of RVP's ridiculous talent and ability, I think the modern forward is just a little bit more active than he is.

Watching Suarez, Aguero or even Hernandez, you see that they're constantly in motion, closing down when they lose the ball, and always running to create space when their team has it. Robin does bits and pieces of this, but only really switches on in the final third.

That is totally fine and conserving energy for key moments is important, but at present our team isn't good enough to dominate with that type of striker. If we could hold on to possession better and win the ball back faster, fine, but we can't. Holland are normally so much better than their opponents Robin can chill up front on a deck chair waiting for the chances to rain in, but we can't offer him that type of support. Say what you want about Suarez as a person/professional etc, but he elevates that Liverpool team by himself because of his workrate.

I think that's why we've looked better when Rooney is up front tbh.

Sign him

Van Persie
Rooney Maradona

With reports that RvP is concerned about his toes (http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/253463.html) I'd rather we rested him and let him heal properly so that he's fit in the next few weeks rather than playing him with little injuries all the time. It's no wonder that his overall form isn't fantastic (even if he is still scoring goals).

Will he be in the squad for Holland? It would surely be the best option for them too if he rested for two weeks instead of playing friendly matches.

Well they seem to have this 'thing' about him playing a captain's role. I didn't expect him to play when they qualified and he broke the record but he did, with sore toes then as well - he said he thought they were broken, yet he still played a pointless game.

Well it's as good a time as any to give him a rest, given that we currently have quite a few attacking players who people want to fit into the team, particularly Hernandez, who has a decent argument for being picked even if RVP isn't carrying a niggling injury.

a goal, an assist and an excellent pass. Clearly depressed. fecking muppets.
