Ok, chief:

But...but...it was a World Cup qualifier!
Take that, duff!

Btw he also becomes Netherland's second highest goalscorer ever with these two goals. Just now two behind Kluivert's record of 40.

Yeah, was just about to post this. Rooney and Chicharito are little far away from similar record for respective country but provided they both stay, in couple of years, we may have 3 strikers who are all time highest goalscorers for their country.

Can he hit the woodwork more times than last season ? Another great goal denied by the fecking crossbar

I think that was the reason why Arsenal didn't win the league once when he was playing for them.. They hit the woodwork too much.

wasn't at his best but still struck the goal post with a lovely right foot volley. what a goal that could had been.

nice finish for the penalty as well, any other day he could end up with a hattrick. this rooney-persie partnership got very good potential, because of rooney's injuries last season we weren't able to see it more. the great thing is that any 2 of our 4 forwards and 5 if you include kagawa can play with one another.

72 goals in his last 101 club games going back to start of 2011-12 season.

incredible record that is, i remember van nistelrooy had 80 goals in his first 100 appearances for us and he was a goalscoring machine.

the only reason 72 goals from 101 games doesn't look super spectacular is because of messi's and ronaldo's goalscoring powers these days.

Still think the service to him is poor. He does so well who he gets on the ball, like the lovely backheel for evra but we don't get him into good positions often enough.

He's done incredible considering that. He's scored so many goals which were either single-handed or just outright spectacular, makes you wonder what he'll be like when we start providing him more.

That Rooney ball over the top is an example of the kinda service he thrives on. I remember Song always trying to find him like that and creating many chances like that.

He loves those balls, like the Giggsy one vs West Ham in the cup.

It would have been the goal of the season again if he'd scored. Possibly more difficult than the Villa goal.

As good as it could have been, I don't think it's more difficult then hitting it first time. Also, iirc, the Villa ball was played from further out but also at a "straighter" trajectory I.e the ball almost literally dropped over his shoulder.

Yesterday he had the space (fair dues, his run created it), and the time to still chest it under control.

Would have been another one for the collectors edition, but not better than the Villa goal.

He had service against palace, he was definitely having an off day though, kept muddling the ball under his feet.

I agree with this, he isn't really playing at his best form lately.

He just fights hard. It's not the same AM slip in style service he was getting at Arsenal. That is the most crazy part is that he fights like a powerful striker for everything. I am sure he wasn't like that at Arsenal? Not sure.

And the one by Rooney in a CL away match which RVP scored thanks to a beautiful first touch. His movement is spot on despite not having the greatest of pace, his control of the ball is perfect, it's all set up to try to find him like that.

Yeah, against Cluj I think, with the outside of his left foot
Rooney, Giggs and Carrick seem to know what kind of service he likes. Hope we see more of it.

He did that like once very early on. I saw the game again. He was once again good when he got the ball, playing intellugent passes or providing good goal threat from difficult angles. I don't think he's out form at all, he's jugs not getting good enough service due to the wingers being poor right now.

Also,I don't think he and Rooney are clicking too well. They have good moments like Rooney playing a great long pass in response to a good Rvp run but I still they need to link up better. The way Torres and Gerrard used to link up is something these two should be capable of but were not seeing much of it. They seem to be too far apart most of the time which doesn't help.

van Persie's not in great form at the moment, but the service hasn't been fantastic. I expected him to bury the chance Rooney laid on for him against Palace - he tried to rip the net instead of controlling his finish.

Still, he's got five for United and three for Holland already; it's always good for a striker to be getting regular goals, even when their overall form isn't great.
