That red card against Barca was the single most ludicrous decision I have witnessed in football. Utterly ridiculous.

I don't remember, but remember thinking it was rather outraging. What was it about?

It was actually his second yellow, after one for grabbing Abidal's neck I believe.

And we still would have went through if Bendtner wasn't so shit.

I'll shut up now.

I forgot about that with Bendtner at the end! I remember thinking "if RVP was still on that would've been Arsenal through"

The red card was truly shocking. In the analysis they did a bit on it and timed it between the whistle and him shooting and it was like 1 second. 1 second with most of the crowd screaming at him... I don't think he had heard the whistle at that point.

Arsenal can rightly feel hard done by on that game.

Average at best tonight IMO. should've scored tonight.

I thought his hold-up play was sensational at times. Kept the ball against 3-4 defenders and along with Welbeck created a few openings. Should've scored mind, but well, shit happens. He really took us to the next level this season.

Yeah I agree. His overall play was fantastic.

Should have had a goal, but he was majestic apart from that. Did the work of two men at times.

At the end of the day Rooney had an off day and RvP's shooting boots were off. At home if they're on form we can win beat these cnuts.

Disagree. His hold up play was very good and he was inches away from giving us a victory.

Seriously, he's a fecking tank up there. I never realised this.

While the finishing wasn't there his overall play was still quite good at times. Certainly didn't have a bad game by any means even if it wasn't his best.

His first touch and close control are utterly unreal, had he laced that chance from Carrick's header it would've been a flawless performance.

Other than that big miss, he was outstanding. He's technically superb, and it's good to see that his footballing ability still stands out when playing the big Spanish teams, given the consensus that their players are technically better.

Held it well and distributed it dangerously.

different class...nothing more to be said.

yes he made a meal out of the chest and volley....but a different level to anyone we have at this club. he's the main man here and everyone knows it.

I'd love to go on a night out with him. Seems like the type of guy that would go to the bar for a drink for himself and come back with a round for the lads and a big grin on his face.

You're mad

I was watching Rio picking his best 11 on sky sports and he said something interesting about RVN. Basically, RVN used to be disappointed if he didn't score in a match regardless of the final score.

The same applies to RVP - when given the chances he should've scored. It's his job IMO.

Decent hold-up play but his finishing let us down with that volley... could be a major turning point, if we suffer on away goals next leg.

He was brilliant today. Put the pressure onto them with some incredible dribbling and hold up play, they just couldn't deal with him. So close to getting a goal on a couple of occasions, first with the shot that hit the bar, then the mishit, and then at the end. Up there with the very best players in the world for sure, and up there with our very best strikers we've ever had as well IMO. Just world class.

Man - still can't believe he missed that chance. It won't come back to hurt us I am confident but, still.

Me neither, every time I replay it in my head I think he'll score!
Didn't looked phased by it, put in a really good shift. He'll score at OT

Average at best tonight IMO. should've scored tonight.

He should have scored yes, but if you think he was average at best, well then in all respect you don't know what you're talking about. That hold up play, taking the pressure off of us, as a lone striker and constantly dribbling past their players making chances for us hasn't been seen in years. We don't have any other player who could do stuff like he did today. Had the keeper not made some of the great saves he did, or if he put away that chance, this would have been a perfect performance from him.

I hope Cina was watching tonight, if he thinks Rooneys hold up play is anywhere near rvp he must be blind!

The part in the first half where he dodged 1 tackle, then did a 1-2 shimmy between alonso and somebody else was majestic.

He adds such a better dimension to our squad.

I thought he was excellent, yes he should have scored, but his allround play was world class.

Sex.

Brilliant player, and the only player we have that makes me lean in closer whenever he's in good positions, such is his ability to produce.

Some of his touches were wonderful tonight, really composed up top and held the ball up well. Good performance playing up on his own. Unlucky to not score, had he it would've been a perfect performance.

Very good game from him today. Often collected the ball on his chest and held it up very well until support finally arrived. Seemed to skip away from challengers with ease as well. Was right up there for Man of the Match for me.Only negative to his game was the missed chance when he fluffed the shot and it was cleared of the line.

I'd rest him for our next game and then hope for another performance like this one against Madrid in the second leg. I'm sure if he gets another chance like the one he messed up he will bury it in the second leg.
