rocky22 from the newbies pm'd me to check the Oranje's goal. Apparently RvP played a terrific ball in the build up, I only saw the replays before hence I only knew he didn't directly assisted the goal.

I watched the highlights, he seemed to play a number of perfectly weighted through balls splitting the defense. Brilliant build up play all game.

Thought he'd changed his name to Van Persie Offside there for a while. Huge balls to take it round the keeper again after fecking up the first one.

He's caught Hernandezitis.

Still, finally broke his 2/3 game duck. He'll score against Madrid I'm sure of it.

Been less than sharp, shall we say.

They say if you can't be good, be lucky. Doesn't really seem fair if you're both.

The first attempt was brilliantly done but he lost a bit of balance when he went to finish it. Still should have scored. The second was pretty average play but Howard kinda just let him stroll past despite it being very obvious he was about to round the keeper. Then the finish was fairly unconvincing and the Everton player should have arguably cleared it. Great to have him score just before the RM game though.

Manages to get a goal + assist and sprinkle class all over the pitch despite being well below his best - class.

Eh? Thought he's been good, goal and and as assist, the post and a Heitinga toe poke away from scoring more.

Definitely been below his best (so far) but as mentioned still got an assist, a goal and had some lovely bits of play as well.

The one of the post was a bit of a sitter once he'd got in that position. Very nearly messed up the goal. The assist was very good play though, that's true.

He's been underpar in that first half. But he has made one and scored one. Too good.

Love that he's showing he hasn't lost his knack for rounding a goalkeeper.

We don't play against teams playing a high line enough to see it often.

I think the second chance was a good finish actually. There was no chance the defender was clearing that. Might look easy on the telly but thats incredibly hard to prevent a goal from that.

Been a bit poor the first half yet he still has an assist and a goal, just goes to show his class.

Not playing at his best, but still getting the goals and contributing to the team, the scoreline and that is a sign of a top player.

The miss in the first half was bad but as acnumber9 says, it takes balls to go round the goalkeeper again but the goal will be good for his confidence.

Thought he was crap today. 1 goal and an assist for the other though sums it up. Pure class.

One weakness i noticed, or shall i say an irritant, why does he keep blowing his nose.

Reminds me of Brian McClair lol

Thought he was our match winner today. Set up the Giggs goal and took his own one really well. Just needs one chance to change the match completely. The second goal more or less killed off everton.

Finishing was way off tonight, still managed to get a goal though. His build up play for the most part was excellent as ever though.

could easily have scored another couple, but got his usual standard goal and an assist to boot.

Arsenal fan on the bbc text said if they'd have kept him they'd have won the league, and he "won't hear any different"

Erm, you had him last year and didn't come close!

Reminds me a bit of Andy Cole really, will always get a goal but does miss/fluff some quite easy chances where he should be scoring. Think there was one in the 2nd half, Giggs laid it off to him and he dragged it miles wide with no real pressure.

Quality player though

He also suffered a bit today, though not as badly as Rooney, from not getting a host of small decisions. Ref didn't have any big calls to make, but he was constantly making little errors in their favour which disrupted the flow of play and the amount of service to RVP. Also when Rooney had to move to the wing and do Giggs' job for him, Robin got a little isolated.

Still played well though, nice assist and a nice goal.

He didn't play well at all, let's be honest. Could tell he was getting frustrated, didn't quite have his usual touch. His class shone through though with his goal.

Arsenal - 1
Aston Villa -
Chelsea - 1
Everton - 1
Fulham - 1
Liverpool - 2
Man City - 1
Newcastle - 1
Norwich -
QPR -

Reading - 1
Southampton - 3
Stoke - 1
Sunderland - 1
Swansea -
Tottenham - 1
West Brom - 1
West Ham - 1
Wigan - 2

Only 4 teams in the league he hasn't scored against yet with QPR next up in the league and Villa, Norwich & Swansea still all to come to Old Trafford. IIRC last season the only team he didn't score against for Arsenal was Man City, wonder if he'll complete the season with goals against all other 19 teams (if he does he should score an OG just to say he's scored against all 20)

Van Persie performance is directly proportional to the team's ability... I bet he played the same when he was at Arsenal... now the difference is that he plays amongst better players... the credit goes to him certainly.

Funny how he was given number 20, and he has been missioned to fire us to number 20.

Wonder if they did that on purpose
