What I liked about yesterday was the zero fecks he gave about going round Howard onto his right foot again after missing the first time round. Most players would be forgiven for trying it on their stronger foot the next time.

Aye, it's as if he did it on purpose to prove that he can indeed, still do whatever the feck he wants.

The first one was smart as he was stuck for an angle anyway, the second was a little strange considering how he had most of the net to curl it into with it on his left foot - probably something they'd identified in training. Is their no gif of the flick over his head to Giggs which skysports stupidly played a replay over?

I thought he missed it. The pitch wasn't great and his touch round the goalkeeper looked to slow down but he did well. Wasn't his best game but is always a threat

Arsenal - 1
Aston Villa -
Chelsea - 1
Everton - 1
Fulham - 1
Liverpool - 2
Man City - 1
Newcastle - 1
Norwich -
QPR -

Reading - 1
Southampton - 3
Stoke - 1
Sunderland - 1
Swansea -
Tottenham - 1
West Brom - 1
West Ham - 1
Wigan - 2

Only 4 teams in the league he hasn't scored against yet with QPR next up in the league and Villa, Norwich & Swansea still all to come to Old Trafford. IIRC last season the only team he didn't score against for Arsenal was Man City, wonder if he'll complete the season with goals against all other 19 teams (if he does he should score an OG just to say he's scored against all 20)

He also missed out against Fulham last season.

According to Wikipedia no player has ever managed to score against more than 17 teams in a premiership season.

He has a good chance at beating that record this season but scoring against all 19 will be very difficult. There has to be a strong possibility he will be rested against Norwich as it just three days before the Real second leg.

Funny how he was given number 20, and he has been missioned to fire us to number 20.

Wonder if they did that on purpose

I remember RvP saying something along those lines just after signing.

Indeed, he chose number 20 on purpose, saying it was to get title number 20. He'd won me over that day.

What's the chances of us clinching it at the Emirates? That'd be good!

Bit of a below par game from him. Not to say he was bad or anything, but I've come to expect a lot more from him than he showed today.

Missed a few chances, and got lucky with his goal in the end. Though even on a slightly off day he still looks dangerous which is a good thing for us.

Are there literally any flaws in his game?

He can take devastating free kicks, he can swing in a devastating corner, he can pretty much score from anywhere, he's clinical in one v one situations, he has amazing link up play and first touch, he has cleared the ball numerous of times for us defensively.

The man is a machine. A complete player if I've ever seen one.

How did he get lucky with his goal?

I didn't know that, I was expecting him to get #9 when Berbatov left.

Great story though.

Berbatov left some 2 weeks after RvP arrived though and by then he'd already gotten the #20 and fans around the world must have already ordered their jerseys so I don't think they could change it to 9 this season. I'll be surprised if he doesn't get the #9 next year and I hope he does.

Because Heitinga (was it Heitinga?) slid in and maybe could of pushed it out?

I'm just conjecturing about what it could be, and it doesn't seem ludicrous, but I don't agree, for me it has nothing to do with luck, it was hit just strong enough to make any kind of clearance very difficult.

He'll need #21 next year, and so on every new season!

There are no flaws to RvP's game.

One thing he doesn't do, but which I wouldn't characterize as a flaw, is that he's not going to go past 2-3 men on the dribble. He's no Pele, no Messi and no Maradona, but he's one of the best strikers and one of the most complete footballers we've seen in our lifetime.

Possibly could do with a bit more aerial threat given his height, but otherwise, not really

RVP looks stressed about the game ;)

Rafael looking really nice.

It hit the defender and could have just as easily gone wide of the defender or been cleared instead of being pushed into the net.

That's not really lucky though is it? He rounded the keeper, got his shot on target and scored a goal, the defender did everhthing he could and it still went in.

A gooner friend of mine works not far from the hotel where the United lads are staying at. He said that Van Persie better not cross his path for his sake, I told him that if he did bump into Robin, he ought to thank him for being the main reason they are playing Munich next week.

He's that main reason we got knocked out last season, missed a sitter against Milan trying to dink it rather than banging it.

That red card against Barca was the single most ludicrous decision I have witnessed in football. Utterly ridiculous.
