He has an asian brother:

Nice to read this sort of genuinely positive journalism about us for once. It sometimes seems like it's been seasons since we got anything other than the usual backhanded 'they're winning whilst playing badly' crap.

Does anyone think he may need a bit of a rest? I haven't looked at his number of appearances so maybe its all in my head, but it seems like he's played quite a bit this season. More than any of our other attackers certainly.

This isn't really motivated by his not scoring the last couple games, but seeing as we don't lack for quality strikers I wouldn't mind him being rotated a bit to keep him fresh down the stretch.

He has, yes, but we have been resting him at important periods as well. He wasn't involved against the win against Fulham (FA Cup), and then featured the next two PL ties. Guess he is doing just fine, being the spearhead of attack and in sterling form this season, he needs to play in as many games as possible.

Didn't he have a small blip in his goal scoring during the winter last year? Obviously can't do it on a cold night at Stoke.

He certainly gives the impression that he loves it at United, and is enjoying every minute of it. It would have been brilliant if we gotten him 2 years earlier ignoring that contract thing

I'd definately rest him this weekend - its such a compliment to him that when he doesn't score for two games some call it a blip

I just think we need him at his sharpest against Madrid and Welbeck deserves a start

On the contrary, i think he looks abit rusty. He has been virtually playing every game for Arsenal last season and now for us and he has been dominating every bit, now he has been rested for a few games and i feel his sharpness isn't quite there, abit like Rooney if you like

And yet there are some people who think Mike Phelan does sweet F.A...

Fixed. ;)

RVP is such a breath of fresh air. It's nice to see a footballer who's confident enough in his own articulacy to actually talk about what it's like to be a footballer, what they actually do in training etc.

"I go into work every day whistling."

Ha, this cracked me up. Comes across as a really down to earth chap. He's a fighter and a winner, thank feck we have him!

So would I be if I was driving in in a big expensive car knowing that I am going to be playing football/in the gym/on a massage table all day and getting paid a fortune.

Great life they have.

Yeh, but still better than the like's of Ashley Cole who 'spat their coffee out' when they heard their new contract offer, or Ronaldo who compared footballers to slaves.

That Ashley Cole quote is funny though, to be fair.

Cole is often misrepresented by that quote - what happened was that he accepted a an offer of £55K (knowing he could get more elsewhere and which was agreed by Dein) and they chiselled him for £5K. One of the stupidest things we've ever done.

Ronaldo is as well. He never said he was a slave. Things like that get lost in time even though we can quite easily google it.

I thought what happened was we offered him £60k, his agent wanted £5k a week but we insisted we would not pay more than £60k in total so told them we would give him £55k and his agent £5k.

Like you said though not our finest moment.

I take it you're not in the "Cole is a money-grubbing cnut" camp of Arsenal fans then?

I think you've said before that it was the club's fault that Cole left because of their tight-fistedness.

Not a popular view in N1 but Cole should never have left and been Arsenal captain for the last 5 years. I think it was about slapping Dein down as much as anything else.

I don't believe it was Ashley Cole who was fashioning the move. He looked as much an Arsenal player in his early days as anyone. Was shocked when I heard the news.

It's like every interview he makes he has peterstorey on his mind and says the exact things to piss him off.
No he's just a self-deceiving cnut trying to justify his greed and disloyalty to even himself.
