Think Juve were the first to copy it off 'Seven Nation Army' for Alessandro Del Piero ... i.e. stressing the syllables in his name to match the tune.

Hmm, so it could be the White Stripes. That's just what it sounds like, too my ear.

Yes it is from the White Stripes, but I was just wondering what premier league club used it first.

I know Arsenal use it as well on Cazorla, but I was wondering which club started it here in England.

That White Stripes riff has been mainstream in the US for a year or two. College marching bands and now high school marching bands. Just a few minutes ago I came home from a high school basketball game and the band had it down cold. Pretty cool.

Said it in game thread, for the last 2 games with Rooney playing, he's been hardly involved. Coincidence?

Btw, thanks for that off the line clearance!!

His link up play is fecking fantastic. Even though he didn't score today (had a good chance with the volley), his approach play and running off the ball was superb.

I think we are not giving proper service to RvP. Yes, he's been in great form and has been scoring loads of goals but those are mostly from the bits and pieces of the passes that he gets. It's partly because of the poor form of the wingers but when we have a player of his calibre, we are supposed to make maximum use of it. He's not getting involved much in the game for the past 7-8 games now. Because of that he's trying to fall deeper and get involved in the build up rather than play behind the shoulder of the last defender.

We simply have to find some way to give him the ball in the opponent box. Whether it's the wings or through the centre. We can easily make better use of him. Maybe Kagawa could help in this matter.

That overhead kick was ridiculous. Sometimes it's ok to go for the scrappy, easy finish Robin.

I am surprised why he is getting caught in so many offsides recently.

180 minutes without a goal? He's shit.

He was offside to be fair, and as he was looking down the line... I reckon he knew he was offside.

Still very classy when he does get the ball. A few times I wanted to be a bit more greedy but his link-up play is so immense.

His touch and link up play is fantastic, probably should have scored as well so is getting his chances. Good overall performance

Quite game from him. Some very nice link up play in and around the box at times. Him and Rooney are getting better working with each other which is good

Link up play was good. Up front was very quiet.

But his defensive stuff from set pieces was really impressive again.

I reckon so too but that's the sort of thing he's done regardless, I'd say that's been his one flaw so far.

Not sure there's much to worry about. It's hard to score in every game. As a team, we look as if we're building some momentum. If we keep this up, I'm sure he'll be in amongst the goals again.

Would be lovely to see another RVP hat trick though

as long as one of Rooney or VP is scoring winners it really doesn't matter which!

I agree, although his overall performance was okay, I thought he had a rather quiet first half. His link up play as others have abundantly reiterated was very impressive especially in the second half. His partnership with Rooney is looking very attractive with each passing match, I reckon we'll see it blossom into something more special by the end of this season.

Yes, I thought there were a couple of occasions where he could have gone for goal but opted for the more sensible team-oriented option. I won't complain too much though, his contributions to our build up play were crucial, and I'm sure he'll get plenty of opportunities in the future to demonstrate his lethal finishing from limited chances created in very tight games.

You could see that he was relishing the space that opened up when Hernandez came on. A quiet game by the mans standards.

Did anyone catch the Jol interview? Quite an amazing and hilarious potshot at Arsenal :
"Van Persie is like Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]. Wherever Zlatan goes, they will be champions, and Van Persie has that quality as well. If the rest are useless, he will not win you the title. But United are very good."

:lol::lol:

I seriously hope he goes through the International break unscathed. Such a crucial player for us it's not even funny.

Just speaking what everyone (including most Arsenal fans) know about Arsenal already.

Nothing wrong with it at all.

They just aren't good enough for a player of Van Persie's ambition.

Though it might become the case, comparing Van Persie to Ibra in terms of winning trophies is a bit generous, given that he has won feck all to date.
