We were talking about his record against Liverpool. Not just his record for Utd. You used inaccurate facts. I don't particularly care anymore though. Feel free to use a meaningless stat to belittle Ronaldo if it makes you happy.

Codswallop!! You didn't specify anything about Rooneys statistics with Everton so, I assumed you were talking about his record at Manchester United v Liverpool, just as I did with Ronaldo v Chelsea whilst he was at Manchester United.

I thought we got past Ronaldo. I used one stat and you get butt-hurt because of it. We have RVP now, one of, if not the best player in the premier league over the last two years. He is a brilliant player who will continue to get even better I am sure. Whilst one player is miserable and can stay where he is for all I care, we have one player who is enjoying his football and making every single Manchester United fan happy. I hope he retires with us and becomes a legend just like Cantona did.

And he gets rewarded by the disloyal, greedy cnut fecking off as soon as he gets injury-free for 18 months.

Bitter as feck, love it

To RVP's great credit I like how he makes it a mission to go to the fans especially at away games. He did this with Arsenal as well.

Why would you assume that? I was saying how having a bad record against one team doesn't make you a worse player. You could only use Ronaldo's record against Chelsea for Utd because that is all he had. If he'd played against Chelsea several times for Madrid and not scored I'm pretty sure you'd include it such is your desire to bring up an irrelevance that had no part in the discussion.

You need to get over your bitterness about Ronaldo. It's not good for you.

The touch and finish for that goal today was just world class. Very few players would have been able to do that. So exciting to have him at United he's already fast turning into one of the best players we have ever had.

Again, you seem to want to bring his name into this thread yet again, what is up with you? It is not good for you to be obsessed either...;)

So, back on-topic, what is your overall impression of RVP? Do you think he has it in him to be a United legend?

I have never seen Sir Alex as excited as that in a long time. What we want is a Jose Mourinho gif running down the Old Trafford touchline celebrating, but with a Sir Alex face shopped on. That would make a great gif.

Ferguson looks so excited whenever RVP scores.

I think he's genuinely ecstatic he got him and he cant help expressing his glee when RVP pops up with another crucial goal.

I think I laughed at the classiness of that goal more than I cheered for it.

I think my actual reaction was just wagging my finger, shaking my head and saying, "feck off. I'm not having that. Too unrealistic, nobody can finish from there"

Indeed, I have seen him applaud goals, I have seen him jump to celebrate, but I think that is the first time I have seen him genuinely pleased like that in a long while. Berbatov and Rooneys overhead kicks were great because they were individual efforts, but this one, it had everything, a gamble on Ryan Giggs for a start since there have been a few criticising him this season and with good reason. However, if he hadn't been there today, it could have been so much different. For me, that pass was straight out of Paul Scholes's book, and for me, there is no other player who could play a pass like that in the team. However, Giggs rolled back the years and picked RVP out with such a brilliant pass. RVP has every right to celebrate like he did, but he was also brilliant in acknowledging first and foremost the player who played that ball to him in the first place. I don't know, but it seems as though Giggs has got better over the last few games and I hope it continues too.

I feel blessed to have him. Just a world class player (we needed at least one more in our first team).

I'm getting his shirt straight from the club shop because he deserves having his shirt sale increased :)

The biggest compliment I can give to RvP is we'd be in a much worse position without his genius. Most of our main players are having their worst seasons.

Nani
Valencia
Rooney
Young
Welbeck
Fletcher (Ill)
Anderson (Injury)
Scholes/Giggs (old)

Defence is another discussion.

These guys are not our main players anymore but Sultan,

Our main players of which

Carrick has been superb
Evra has been better this season than the last two seasons
Evans has been superb
Rafael has been great
Rooney has played well
Hernandez scoring for fun
Cleverley and Anderson done well in spurts
DDG having a good solid season
Rio has been solid

But I do agree RVP has been nothing short of sensational.

Evans has not been superb.
And Anderson has only started 3 games all season.

RVP is keeping us going.
But that's why fergie spent so Much on an older player
He Is brilliant

Technically he's one of the best players we've ever had. He's like a super insane version of Berbatov. Ronaldo is an abosolute goal machine but RvP offers a lot more than goals. I'm not just saying Ronaldo only scores goals because he does contribute outside of that but RvP is definitely better in that aspect. Stick RvP in Barca's team and he's score 50 goals without a doubt.

This guy is just brilliant in all aspects you can think of! Just incredible and he could really prove to be the difference to win trophies!

Can't believe that people are claiming he's in Ronaldo's league already, especially for impact for us.

Look, i love the guy, but short memories here, Ronaldo was bloody brilliant for us, and at least for 2-3 seasons he was scoring important goals, goals from nowhere from 30 yards, almost single-handedly dragging us through some matches, goal machine in those years.

Van Persie, can have that sort of impact, and is having a great run, but lets wait till the end of the season, or two, before proclaiming him to be anything like or close to Ronaldo was for us. Van Persie's has saved us a few times, but steady on lads.

I thought his second touch was the best. He just breezes it with his left foot, while at the same time gaining a yard on the defender and getting his body in front in case of a tackle. That was perfect.

In fairness to RvP, He's playing in a poorer United team than Ronaldo. That point considered, it's easy to see why people regard his impact to be similar to that of Ronaldo.

And the fear factor...He's got that back to our team!

His impact for us this season is certainly in Ronaldo's league. If he continues till may this will be one of the best season's a player could possibly have. He has contributed to almost all of our victories this season, and scored important goals away to Liverpool, Chelsea, City, Southampton. Pretty impressive. Ronaldo barely delivered against Pool and Chelsea, especially away from home where we usually struggled.

Agree DU, both his feet were off the floor as he was mid-run yet he managed to knock the ball forwards with his left foot before planting it. Amazing.

Same. The first touch I expected because he is so silky smooth but I wasn't sure where he could go from there. He just made it look piss-easy.

On the Ronaldo-van Persie thing, yes there are of course things that Ronaldo can do that van Persie couldn't but a lot of people are seriously underrating van Persie if they think it doesn't go both ways. He can influence a game creatively to a degree Ronaldo never could:

That pass for the third is absolutely stunning and his set-piece technique really is brilliant. He's much more dangerous from set pieces than Ronaldo was. The best since Beckham.

Reminds me of Messi's 4th goal against Espanyol.

I think what made it more brilliant was that the ball was hit in the same direction he was running, people will tell you how hard it is to control a ball like that, and that he controlled it with his left foot while most players will use their right, all on the run. He always had his awkward posture when controlling the ball, its the same with Welbeck, but you can see how it helped adjust his body momentum perfectly when he used his left foot to drag the ball forward. So unorthodox yet brilliant.
