But Rooney needs to be given a break from many of you. He got 27 league goals last season.
He improves the general play of a team -- you don't find many players like that. Nor ones with a proven track record in the Premier League, playing for a big club.

Rarely ever takes a bad freekick/corner either. Alot of his deliveries are so dangerous and its no wonder we've been scoring more from set pieces this year.

Wenger positioning him as a main striker was a masterstroke. He was a good player already but it highlighted his versatility, which appealed to many clubs.
The injuries have overshadowed his career, yet he is in Arsenal's top ten goalscorers table with over 170 goals. In seven years, for a guy who has played on the wing and "in the hole", that is impressive.
Exaclty. Even if RVP is better Rooney is still a hell of a player. Look at his big game record. We are lucky to have both.

He's having the same effect that Ronaldo had in the 07-08 season. i.e. just winning games on his own through moments of genius almost every week.

Wouldn't have him on the same level as Ronaldo at all but he's been brilliant for us nevertheless and is arguably becoming our most crucial player to have since Ronaldo left, even including Rooney in there. Done even better than I expected him to this season.
Amazing goal for the second. That for me was the match winner. Right before the half, deflating the entire wigan side with a goal that came out of sheer brilliance.
Even that 2nd goal isn't just 'simple' finishing, he wrong footed the keeper.Since he's a genius I'm gonna convince myself that he did it on purpose
