What a player. Came on and applied such a fantastic finish and basically killed the game off. Everything he does is class.

for those of you who don't know, the rip sign was for his grandfather. last year he had a happy 91st bday for him when he scored a goal with arsenal.

The Indian girl's name is Damini, however Tchuna could be something symbolic for a lost flower apparently (googled this and there are a few speculative links already)

It's a good gesture if that's what it is, it could well be some relative too. Hopefully he'll take to twitter to explain this one.

Different class. Just a phenomenal striker who wins matches with a stroke of his left boot. That goal he scored was brilliant not to mention how crucial it was to guaranteeing us the 3 points.

He's having a similar impact to Ronaldo when he was here. I'm not discounting Rooney, he's been doing it for years and is vital to our play, but RVP is the better player and goalscorer IMO.

His game is just so fecking slick and I can't count the amount of times that he has contributed defensively.

Much more consistent player than Rooney but that's no slight on Rooney because both are capable of scoring 30+ a season.

If you are referring to the Indian girl, it's out now. They were referring to her as 'Amanat' inspired by a film character to protect her identity, but after she's dead, the press has outed her name.

Wrong thread and all, but Damini is another symbolic name given to her by the press.

Looks like we're going to have random people from the internet making stuff up about Tchuna until van Persie comes out and explains it.

I want him to start against Wigan. Hopefully we can score and take a lead soon and he can be substituted around the hour mark. Then he can get a break till the Liverpool game 10 days later.

He's most definitely going to start against Wigan. I imagine that was the reason behind resting him today.

Tell him to feck off, Steve.

And that his undershirt is not reserved for his grandfather only, because his name is Wim, not Tchuna.

There's a better chance of van Persie telling him to feck off than Steve.

The Dutch media say Tchuna is a friend of Robin van Persie’s who passed away in Rotterdam yesterday.

He's so good, I can't believe I didn't want him here. He makes Rooney look like a piece of shit, which is saying something.

That's just wrong on many levels. Rooney is quality and for me our best player. I think RVP is superb but so is Rooney.

I think he's better than meat feast pizza. He makes it taste like sawdust in my mouth. Let's have a big feck-off argument about it.

Jesus christ. Can we not praise our players without tearing others to bits? Rooney is our third highest goalscorer ever. You need to shut it.

I was on the fence last year but I don't think it's a contest between Rooney and van Persie any more. I still think Rooney is right up there with van the man in terms of importance because of a fairly unique skillset and mentality and our very specific needs but in terms of individual quality I think there's a really clear gulf.

Nice that he was able to get on and demonstrate his thanks for his friend, and score a very important goal for us.

He is such a top player.

It still feels like the hunnymoon period for me, everytime he plays im still in awe.

Jack Rowley would be proud :smirk: You're absolutely right though, the greatness of one player doesn't make another any less good - we have both Rooney and RVP

Classy gesture from RVP so soon after losing a friend. Great goal in his honour also.
