The only thing that slightly worried me was his previous fitness/injury issues. When fit and available he's world class and so consistent, touch wood.

saf gets it right again. tbh, i think why he was signed is not because we did not have enough forwards. saf understands that roon may have reached his peak as a forward, so IF roon really cannot score enough goals, we are in great trouble, so robin was signed to fill the gap and even allow roon to play in midfield. having said that we still need to sign midfielders.

Even with everything he's done so far you feel we can get more out of him. His control and use of the ball is just classy and that goal threat is something else. We knew his left foot is magic but he's more than capable with his right foot and head as well.

It still annoys the Arsenal fans every time he produces for us.

The lad is a class player to watch. You can tell everything he does has a sense of purpose. I'd say with the ability RVP has, he's only shown 65% of it with us. That's frightening!

Same. After 2 or 3 games I had a whole new level of appreciation for his hold-up play, but today was the first time I'd realised he's great in the air as well. He's pretty much the perfect target man whereas from watching him for Holland I thought he hated that role and needed to be involved throughout the play as he was for Arsenal. He can do it all. Could easily have had an assist today with that effortless pass over the top to Young (?) and any time he gets the ball within 20 yards you know he'll work the keeper.

He's going to win us a Champions League.

You feel like anything is possible with him leading the line. I'm glad our young strikers will learn a huge amount from him. Class apart.

Rooney may be the better overall player but there's no question who the better strike is between the two. Glad we have them both.

This RvP guy can certainly play, can't he? That shot that cracked off the post was just simply outstanding! Surrounded by two players and still created enough room to fire a shot in on goal, one that should have led to our third too if it wasn't for the linesman.

Btw he should've more goals to his name. With yesterday included, he has hit the bar and post thrice and had a goal wrongly disallowed against Reading.

With the wingers coming back into the form, I can't wait to see him and Rooney performing in tandem.

I thought his 1 weakness was his lack of a right foot, but hell I was wrong

That dink before his shot hit the post was amazingly well taken as well. Took two players out in the penalty shot and suddenly, boom! What a goal it would have been had it gone in.

I was one of them. It wasn't that I doubted his ability, I just thought he wasn't what we needed. But, he's changed my mind completely.

So easy to fall in love with him. He is just class. Two pieces. Him celebrating at the end and turning and yelling 'WAZZAAAAAAA' and going over and hugging him.

Class act. The other was at the end the way he spoke about Wayne Rooney's finishing. "Two clinical finishes, which was good.."

The smile when he's walking back through the haze as well. Such a classy lad. Sometimes I feel for the Arsenal supporters, I really do. But watching him this year has been a delight.

Is there a GIF of this? That sounds fantastic!

Jones is almost giddy in that gif, whereas Smalling is his typical composed self. Whats the fuss guys? All in a days work

Did de Gea try to cop a feel?

Love this pic....

Just love picking out all the anxious/nervous looking city fans. See how may open mouthed, hands over mouths or fingernail biters you can spot!

Opposition fans shit themselves every time he picks the ball up. I think only Ronaldo had this same aura about him in our recent years. Had City signed him you may as well have handed them the title on day 1.

That's fecking poor from Nasri

I wasn't against signing him, but at the time I was puzzled by it because I felt the money could've been better spent on more worrying areas of our team.

Now I'm delighted we did.

If Messi or Ronaldo became available even now, and we had the cash... we'd buy them.

You always buy the best if you can. As good as Welbeck and Hernandez are, they are not the best.

It was more his age than anything.

Was the same for me. I thought he might struggle to fit in immediately and hence the money might end up being wasted. Also the injury record. But I did rate him the best player in the league (and still do), so it wasn't a question of quality at all.

He really gives us a certain spark that we've lacked in recent times I feel. The ability to do something brilliant out of nothing or the technical quality with which he does everything.

But more than anything, it's his "frontman play" that has surprised me most. The target he provides for our midfielders is a great addition to our play. I didn't know he was this good at getting the rest of the team into play.

er Rooney scored about 36 goals last season, often has the ability to drop into midfield, play left wing. I think he is a better player than Van Persie but is it such a big deal when they are both World class and able to play together and we have them both. Lets just enjoy that.

I love how people keep saying one is better is better than the other and then going on to say that we shouldn't compare them and we're lucky to have both. If you don't want them compared then don't compare them!

I struggle to understand how anyone held this point of view, why would anyone be against signing one of the best strikers/footballers in the World, from one of your rivals?

Age, price, injury record, already having strikers, signing Kagawa. It's not hard to imagine.

Let me rephrase I wasn't against signing him considering he's class. But at the time I'd have rather we spent money elsewhere.

this.

when the ball is at his feet within the final third of the area then you kind expect something special to happen. especially when he lines up to shoot with his left foot.

not trying to compare him to rooney, i am super glad we have both them in our team but not even rooney has that kind of aura and what a great player rooney is.

Wenger got a lot of stick today from Adrian and Darren on Talksport for agreeing to sell RvP to United.

All things considered, I really don't see what choice he (or Arsenal as a club) had in the matter. Do caftards agree with Adrian and Darren?

If he didn't sell him, he would come to us next year for free, and that's it, so they are talking bollocks.

If that meant them qualifying for the CL this season and having their main rivals deprived of a superb player wouldn't it be enough to offset the 24m?

I guess the answer will depend on how skint they are.
