I'll forgive him for the duckface, oh yes oh yes oh yes, Robin Van Persie, oh yes!!!!

I was just asked on text by mates if I would be happy if United swapped him right now for a world class midfielder....

I replied with no :-0

Eh

Stupid question. He is unswapable*

*except for Messi or Ronaldo

He is, but let us not quibble on a day such as this.

Agree with you Jimmy boy Rooney is a better player. But different I guess RVP is lethal everytime the ball went forward today it stuck to him he's a class act. What a pairing to have and it's great having this debate about who's best as we have the best front two in world football!

I thought his target-man-play in the first half was excellent. It was his chest off that made the first goal and he won most of his headers against Toure and Kompany too.

Same. After 2 or 3 games I had a whole new level of appreciation for his hold-up play, but today was the first time I'd realised he's great in the air as well. He's pretty much the perfect target man whereas from watching him for Holland I thought he hated that role and needed to be involved throughout the play as he was for Arsenal. He can do it all. Could easily have had an assist today with that effortless pass over the top to Young (?) and any time he gets the ball within 20 yards you know he'll work the keeper.

He's going to win us a Champions League.

For a while I thought of United as one of my preferred choices for the Champions League draw but am having severe doubts with that now, thanks to this devastating Rooney-RvP combo. Quite clearly the best front two in the world right now and individually I only place Falcao above RvP as a striker.

They just seem to complement each other so perfectly. Both great finishers, both great in build up...

Van Persie is scoring for fun , for almost 2 years now , and playing some really good football on top . Rooney doesnt .

Rooney's link up play and workrate is awesome. His creativity and passing range is something RVP doesn't possess plus his goal scoring rate is not to bad to be fair. Loved when he out jumped Yaya today for a header.

I think RVP's got a lot more in his locker than people give him credit for, he's much more than just a goalscorer.

I still think Rooney is the better player of the two as of late 2010/11, where his return saw us destroy teams in the league & CL, but Van Persie is just something else at times like these.

I still cannot believe he plays for us. Robin Van Persie. :D

I love how people are wondering who is better between Rooney and RVP.

We have them both :D And both scoring for us.

Rooney has 56 goals and assists in 54 (5) games, factoring in this season so far and last season. Add to that his all round game and you have a truly incredible player.

Or Falcao

No, that was not a mistake. I would not swap him for Falcao. RVP has more goals and assist this term than Falcao, He is a guaranteed Premier League performer and his attitude is A*.

Of course, and if not for Rooney RVP'd probably be the best number 9 and the best playmaking forward in the league. But Rooney's just a once-in-a-generation sort of player.

He's brilliant. He adds so much to our game to have such an intelligent focal point up top.

er Rooney scored about 36 goals last season, often has the ability to drop into midfield, play left wing. I think he is a better player than Van Persie but is it such a big deal when they are both World class and able to play together and we have them both. Lets just enjoy that.

When he's on song yeah, but Rooney can really be god-awful at times. That for me sways it in RVP's favour.

Lets no go off on the RVP vs Rooney debate again

But RVP is fecking class.

I think since Ronaldo left, I missed that player I just get giddy to see on the team sheet, and RVP offers this. He is our genuine FM signing in years.

He's the perfect player to play with Rooney.Their understanding is unparalleled in the entire league.I love how they got through the City's pressure deep in the team's half in the 2nd half with so clever close passing.
The comparisons should really stop as they're just pointless.

2 of the top 5 strikers in world football playing together, it really is a dream pairing, as good as you could hope for really. I remember when the rumours first came around I thought we had absolutely no hope in hell of getting him. So delighted that we did. Always liked him as an Arsenal player and had a huge amount of respect for him, now that he's here he is easily one of my favourite players. Just a complete striker.

That shot that hit the post was tremendous. With his weaker foot as well.

That's a great point - gives us that fear factor that we had with Ronaldo

RVP has actually created as many oppertunities for teammates as Rooney has this season. The problem is that he's also our main goalscorer and he cant be on the end of the chances too. RVP's passing and crossing is yet to be fully appreciated I feel.
