We looked shit because we played without a central midfield and had Welbeck out on the left wing while Rooney was alternating between left back, defensive mid and left winger.

Is he really approaching that level, and if so, did you see that potential in him in his early 20s or is it really only in the last couple of seasons that he showed he could be that good?
He can achieve the same goals tally as our last great Dutch striker whilst being an all round better player.

Same as you, he's as clinical as RVN but an better all-round player. He's still got a way to go before we can compare their United careers though, RVN was sensational for us.

I love him....but it still feels weird, if you know what I mean. I don't think we are a one man team at all. We weren't with Cantona...its just some players inspire and galvanise a team mentally....and we bought one of those in RVP

i dont think we are, the team has been rebuilt with him as the main striker, the goalscorer, and rooney completely changing roles. if he wasnt there, like he wasnt there last season goals would come from someplace else. 14 different players have scored for us this season? your main striker scores more goals than anybody else, its that easy.

To be honest, Van Basten's a level above, I reckon he's probably the best out and out striker I've ever seen. But yeah he's very similar, especially technically and movement in the box. He's just so sharp. Anyway I've always rated him....but I didn't think he'd become this good. Suppose you can't really judge, Van der Vaart was supposed to be their most talented youngster since Cruyff...yet...well...you know.
Isn't van Persie a better player technically, and a bit more of an imaginitive players, than MVB was?
Their ability in the box is obviously similar.
I disagree with that, VB was as good technically and very good in the build up too from what I've seen.
For me ( i grew up in the Netherlands ) Dennis Bergkamp is the best Dutch player ever .
