Feck.

I was under the impression he was rapid?

He looks about as 'rapid' as Kagawa and this is from me watching him three games in a row now for Brazil. He's not lightening quick like Felipe Anderson

Lots of report suggesting that Liverpool are on the verge of getting this guy. Have to say, I like what I've seen of him based on the reliable source that is YouTube.

That would be quite a coup for Liverpool, and a blow for us (if reports we want him are true)

The report are that Liverpool are hijacking our 'deal' for him, if we do indeed have a deal for him then they will have no chance, obviously.

I would guess that Liverpool signing him would mean he wasn't a priority for us as there's no realistic reason for him to choose them over us, bar maybe concerns over game time.

Which isn't to say he wouldn't be a quality signing for them, mind.

The problem may be if he was, say, our plan B for that role, and we are stalling whilst trying to secure Plan A.....and then Firmino loses patience and goes elsewhere and we subsequently fail to get Plan A.....if you see what I mean? Complicated business this transfer window!

On the other hand, also depends on whether we want him as badly as they do. They can offer him a place in their first 11 whereas we can't.

Since he is at the Copa America, he isn't losing patience, and that report is BS, because United are either not interest or Liverpool aren't Hijacking him or both.

If reports are true that we want him.We will get him.

Second that. Liverpool ain't hijacking anything. The only way they will sing him is if we don't/have slight interest in him.

Van Gaal said he always provide several names for each position he thinks a signing is needed. If we don't sign Firminho he is either low on the list or not present at all

I have a feeling this is what happened with Clyne. We were waiting on Alves but he simply used as in his contract negotiations.

Yeah, that thought had occurred to me too. All depends on how realistic our plan A is I guess.

Still, we've been linked to Felipe Anderson too and I'd guess we were unlikely to sign both of them? For all we know he's more of a priority than Firmino.

Which reports? I havent seen any reliable reporter/newspaper saying Liverpool are on the verge of signing him. I dont count Talksport.

What the feck, did I just see Robinho?

*Wrong thread, thought this was Copa America.

Firmino wasn't very impressive against Venezuela, not stand out impressive anyway. His first touch let him down a few times but he did link up with his teammates pretty well. He's not very quick, his tap in goal is probably symbolic of what LVG would probably expect from him. I think he'll be converted to a full time striker whoever he signs for in England

Sounds like a player we already have but with better first touch obviously - Mata

He's just going to be one of those players that if we sign him, he'll turn out bad and everyone would be like "we should never have signed an unproven player". If he goes to another team, he'd be deadly we'll be linked at 3x the price and everyone would be wondering why Woodward didn't sign him earlier.

This.

Also if he's not going to play as a #9 in our squad then I fail to see the need for his services.

I don't know why Liverpool are in for him; he is awfully similar to Fabio Borini. I don't really know what he does well, or his position, but he finds ways to score a lot. Well, ok, he has a strong strike.

He's better than Borini.... A player that had performed superbly in the Bundesliga for 2 seasons straight is in no way awfully similar to a benchwarmer of a midtable PL club. PL is not incredibly better than Bundesliga in any means.

Silva was shite in the tournament before signing for Chelsea so wouldn't judge him on his performances

So you judge how good a player is and admit that you have no idea how he plays in the same one-liner. Well played.
