Roberto Firmino

From the scouting reports i've read he can play 4 positions:CF, CAm, or either wing. This fits well with LVG's preference for players who can play multiple positions such as Blind.

p.s. I thought his Youtube videos were quite good.

Like you are hinting, how is that an alternative?

Both very different type of players.

As I said, i also reckon they are very different players and it seems a weird way to look at it, but the articles I've read has said that we were after Gundogan mainly for his playmaker-capabilities, and not to be a DM, and rumors has it (unreliably of course) that he will go to Barcelona eventually, and going by that you could argue that Firmino would be second choice as a playmaker.
I did say of course that I was unsure about this.

Youngish potential, strikes me as a Liverpool target this fella.

What about Anderson Felipe? Are we looking at both of them as potential targets or is it going to be one or the other? If I had to pick i'd go with Felipe

Since his agent spoke about the transfer to England, i don't think he is signing for United. Don't remember the last transfer where the agent or player spoke about the transfer before signing for United. Smells like City all over this transfer.

Same here, although I disagree with your comments on anderson. But I feel that he needs another season at lazio, so he can improve his decision making. Has only had six good months really, at this point.
I'd take your word for it, haven't seen that much of Anderson, just an odd game here and there.

As much as I rate Felipe Anderson, Firmino would make more sense for us. We have Memphis, di Maria, Mata and Young for the wide areas, there's really no need for Felipe Anderson unless one of di Maria, Young or Mata leaves. Firmino could play as a forward or in behind, which would make him more useful for us. Apparently Felipe Anderson is capable of playing through the centre as well, but I haven't seen him in that role. Firmino would be the safer bet of the two, since Felipe Anderson has had one good season at best, whereas Firmino has been Hoffenheim's standout player for 3 seasons. We'd regret if we let him go to City.

No space for both?

No space for both?

In my ideal United world, there would be. Since I think that we need to improve on Young and Fellaini in our foreseeable future, but van Gaal may have a different opinion.

seriously who is he?

Is he worth a punt for 10 or 15 million?
He's class, and worth more then what someone will get him for probably. But we don't really need him as he's mainly a #10, though he is versatile so maybe Van Gaal would plan on using him instead of Fellaini further back, or on the wing, or up front even. No doubt that he would improve us though, he's a very good dribbler and he's creative along with being a good goalscorer.

Tbh, he sounds like the exact kind of player that we need. Fast, skillful, great dribbler, creative, and can play all across the front line. I really hope we get him, especially at the prices being quoted.

Dutch press quote his price at 30m in stead of 13m though, that sounds alot more likely to me.

yeah lets get him and turn him into a world class player for madrid or barcelona.
Avoid south american players and young spaniards in future.

Is it not 30m Euros? So about £21 million, which is still a pretty good deal I reckon.

We can't not sign players, just at the risk they might leave in the future. Especially if that means they go to City/Chelsea/Arsenal instead.

A Brazilian who decides to join Germany and Hoffenheim and thrives, is less likely to be enamored with Barcelona and Madrid.

So don't sign Germans either as they all go off to Spain as well and Portuguese. Let's just sign average Englishmen because Real/Barca don't want them.

We need one of those.

I agree with you, and I would add that yes he won't improve the first eleven but he will improve the first fourteen. With him our rotation will be stronger in at least 2 positions.

so

If were going to spend loads of money on youngsters and then another load developing them for madrid or barca we may as well buy established players.
