His agent has reported that he'll be in the PL next season, didn't say which club, just that he'll be with an English club.

All evidence points to it being us. Seriously hope we sign him.
I haven't heard about anyone else involved seriously so I'm hopeful too.

It won't be announced until the Copa is over, my guess anyway.

He lists it two posts down from the one you quoted. It's circumstantial but somewhat enticing nonetheless.

I don't see how either 'being linked with us' or being 'pictured with his agent' is evidence supporting our case?

He had 3 consecutive good/great seasons for Hoffenheim, so he is not potential, but someone that had proven his quality. The way some people talk here it's as if PL is the best league in the world by far and any other league does not even compare. He is doing exceptionally in a league that is in front of PL in terms of UEFA coefficient, so he is no where near as "good but I don't know how good he will be" as most people here thinks.

Well it looks more likely to be us than any other team at the moment. His agent has confirmed he is moving to England, which suggests to me that a deal is very much in place already. We're the only club being linked at the moment, seems fairly on to me.

I'm excited at the idea of signing him. Like Depay, he seems like a player on the rise and he could be very very good over the next few seasons

Any player in the Brazilian national squad is good enough for me, even though I haven't actually seen him play.

Chelsea - Unlikely, they are stacked with attacking mids
Arsenal - Not entirely unlikely, they have attacking mids but wouldn't shy away from a good deal
Man City - Probable. Silva is getting on a bit
Man Utd - Probable
Liverpool - He wouldn't join a team outside CL
Spurs - Same as Liverpool

If this is a done deal then why haven't we announced it then? Copa America isn't done for ages yet so why not just announce it.

I've said from day 1, mata won't fit in with lvg

Re fermino, I hope we get him. I reckon he's on the verge of being the next big thing

Fermino would be great, as would Anderson imo, young, talented, hungry players with pace will be a fantastic thing to have in the side.

Mata will command a large fee this is something alot of the players we want to sell won't, we might have loads of money but we need so much, it could just be a high value player has to go (DDG aside) and my money would be on Mata atm.

I have a feeling we want to announce everything all at once, Gundogun, Schneiderlin, Firmino, Anderson, Otemendi, and Coleman/Clyne all on the same day......just imagine that.

Then the Kane, Bale, or Benzema saga will rumble on well into late August.

I usually agree however there are times when a deal is too good to let go. Firmino at 13m is one of those deals. Id say lets get him and change formation to 4-2-3-1. Mata and Firmino can play in the link man role, with Depay on the left and Di Maria on the right. Fellaini, Blind, Carrick, Schneiderlin and Herrera could cover the deeper midfielder roles.

I've seen him a few times for Brazil and wasn't overly impressed. I'm not going to say he isn't any good but he didn't look like a player you switch your system for.

The question for me is where he plays. Van Gaal might have an idea and see an integral place for him overall. If so then fine, but if not then I don't see the point in stacking up players when it doesn't actually make us any better overall.

If it goes through then fair enough. We'll see I suppose but the last thing we need is to be collecting players who don't deal with a pressing need or fill a gap that we need to fill. We have enough issues to address and in the past haven't done it, instead signing players in areas we were well stocked.

I think we lost the battle for Gundogan and turn to Firmino as the second alternative.
I'm not completely sure of course, since Gundogan is more defensive than Firmino, but from my limited perspective thats the way the media has played it.

Thaat reminds me of the David Moyes roller skate story from a couple of years ago :lol:

Like you are hinting, how is that an alternative?

But but I was expecting some sexy Brazilian stuff, this guy is more Milner than Neymar though.

Well, first of all why would you expect him to be Neymar, secondly Milner is a good football player and finally Firmino does the right things at the right time, he has the skills but prioritize efficiency. It's like Depay people aren't amazed when a player tries to be clinical but they criticize him when he is wasteful.

Anderson plays best as a RW, if we do sign him mata wont be able to play his false winger role and he isnt good enough as a number 10 with herrera/carrick in midfield.

I hope it's Firmino that we sign. Anderson is a bit kick and rush for me and less of a team player than Firmino from my observation, however I don't follow Lazio much.

Both very different type of players.

Same here, although I disagree with your comments on anderson. But I feel that he needs another season at lazio, so he can improve his decision making. Has only had six good months really, at this point.
