Would he not take Fellani's position in the 4-3-3 system?
Since fellaini played as a box to box in the last months, no. But if we play in 4-2-3-1, Fellaini will probably be the loser.

Like Liverpool and the Downing YouTube video. Worked great for them!No look again!
Just sign him on that vine ffs. #madtekkers
Am I right in thinking Firmino and Felipe Anderson are quite similar in terms of both style and position(s)? Who's the better player?
This looks a go-er then. Unless City are really in for him?
Hope it's us, exciting signing!
Is this guy the real deal? Haven't seen much of him, from what I have seen he looks like a reliable but not stand-out player. We have enough reliable players, we need to start signing quality players.
Well, Firmino plays regularly for Brazil. Felipe Anderson does not.So whose the better of the two? Felipe Anderson or Roberto Firmino? We're linked with both, both seem to play the same position, roughly the same age.
Yep, the only ones which immediately spring to mind are the quality players like Mata, Rooney, Fabregas, even Oscar, AdM, Ramsey (last season) etc who can match those type stats. Some with more assists, less goals and vice versa. But those stats are impressive - especially if you consider the (lack of) quality players in a side like Hoffenheim (with all due respect to them) and his done it consistently over 2-3 seasons. I don't know much about him (at all), but yeah, seems like a bright future ahead of him.I don't know what you consider stand-out - but find me an attacking midfielder in the P.L with these stats that you don't consider stand-out and I will be very impressed by you
2014/2015 - 33 matches - 7 goals 10 assists
2013/2014 - 33 matches - 16 goals 12 assists
I know stats don't tell everything - but those are pretty darn impressive stats.

Yep, seems it was reported in BILD.
It's been shot down already?!??!I thought we shot this rumor down last week?
As back-ups yeah, far too young and inexperienced to be there as the main players of those positions. Why not buy all?
---------- Rooney
Depay -- Firmino -- Felipe
/muppet mode off
Well, in that case, I doubt we'll do it. lol. Not easy finding monsters like him.F.anderson has only had a great six months at this point, could turn out to another nani. Need to give him time to see if he can maintain his form.
That would work very well too but would need a monster like matic behind them.
I guess they are young. I think it'll be an open competition. Whoever is on form plays. Which means even ADM and Mata are not assured of their places. As back-ups yeah, far too young and inexperienced to be there as the main players of those positions.
oh good i'm glad that we would rather spend £60 million on a big name then buy a talented player that would cost a fraction of the price and is young enough to develop and be moulded.
I wonder how we will fit him, Mata, AdM, Rooney and Depay into the side next year.
Herrera and Carrick are two locks in midfield you'd assume.

So, with his agent confirming he will go to England, I guess it's between us and City now?
I don't know if we'll sign him or not, but we keep acting as if we'll sign only 1 player, signing him will not stop us from getting a striker if we want.
1. Our attack was snail slow & pedestrian last season, we complained, we're linked with players that can change this, we complain.
2. Mata, while he's a good baller, he doesn't force things like say Silva, maybe Firmino can do this.
3. With CL, there'll be lots of games, we'll rotate.
4. Memphis is young, could need time + no one knows the Di Maria that'll turn up, one technical, pacy attacker isn't a bad idea.
That I cannot comprehend. All this 'we don't need him etc' is nonsensical. Firmino is a dynamic pacey forward that can get goals. Exactly what we need and fits the LvG profile. See Robben at Bayern for example. Having both Firmino and Depay would be fantastic.
Nah, Fellaini was as close to a #10 as we had in the 4-3-3 we played, Herrera being the box to box. So yeah, my guess would be Firmino would take that position or rotate up front or out wide some times. He's versatile and that's something Van Gaal has always liked to have.Since fellaini played as a box to box in the last months, no. But if we play in 4-2-3-1, Fellaini will probably be the loser.

City fans could say the same about us, saying that our immediate targets are Ottamendi and Schneiderlin (or whoever)Can't be City, it seems their immediate targets are Pogba and Sterling.
