Embolo is a striker I thought? Mkhik's best position is behind the striker as well.
Embolo is certainly a striker by trade, that much is true. But he's also more than capable of playing as a right forward, or as an attacking right midfielder. As a matter of fact, he's played more games on the right in the 2015/16 season, than he did playing as a striker. And whilst this is partly due to his age, it's also due to his ability of being a great crosser of the ball, a goal threat, and being an explosive dribbler in tight spaces. I'd quite like to see him playing as a right forward in a interchanging fluid attacking trident. When we were playing a 4-4-2 with the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez in the same starting berth, it was often Tevez who was part of that "2" and particularly on the right meaning he was essentially playing as a right forward, and in actuality it was more or less a front three as Ronaldo wasn't restrained to playing on the left but rather worked in conjunction with Tevez and Rooney. Concurrently, we would have Park or Fletcher as part of the "4" playing as narrow right sided right midfielders. Despite Tevez having qualities to be used as the primary goal threat as we saw with Man City, and later Juventus, he was a key component for us. Additionally, David Villa was a striker for Valencia, and a rather prolific one at that (scored 21 goals in 32 La Liga appearances and 6 goals in 10 Europa League appearances), but that didn't stop Guardiola from using him as a left forward making him part of a very potent trident, rather than spearheading the attack. One other example being Thierry Henry, who is unequivocally one of the greatest strikers to grace the EPL, but he was also used as a wide forward under Pep, and prior to Pep's arrival, a player with the qualities of a striker was deployed as a left forward in Eto'o. Speaking of Eto'o it was also the case that Mourinho used him at times as an inside forward, so it isn't an issue in my personal opinion.
Mkhitaryan is a versatile player, as our Reus and Aubameyang who make up the front three in Dortmund's 4-3-3 respectively. Given that they're all versatile players, they tend to interchange frequently. With Martial as a left forward, we would have a versatile players and he's certainly capable of playing as a striker, and provided Memphis was deployed on the left, the same principle applies as he's a wide forward by trade who likes to drift into central positions in the pursuit of goals. And Rashford is versatile himself, often showing glimpses of the individual brilliance he showed at U18 level when momentarily going to the right hand side. Moreover, many playmakers tend to play on the right. For instance, our very own Juan Mata has predominantly played as a RW /LW in his career rather than as a no.10, and it was only one season under Benitez when he done well in that position, and for us, playing as a no.10 has been when Juan Mata has been at his worst, and that's saying something, as exemplified by his 6.75 Whoscored rating as a CAM this season.) Given that Mkhitaryan had his best ever season in the 2015/16 predominantly being deployed as a Right Forward, I would be apprehensive with saying his best position is as a CAM. One thing that is certain though, is that he's a play-maker which would complement the directness of Memphis/Martial respectively. It is often the case that teams tend to have a clinical forward, and a creative one. For instance, Neymar in the 2014/15 season was very clinical, Robben-esque type, whereas it would be Messi being the playmaker. At Bayern, during the days of "Robbery" if you will, it was Ribery who was the playmaker. Mkhitaryan comfortably topped the assist charts in the Bundesliga (leading by 5) and as far as the top 5 European leagues are concerned, only Suarez, Di Maria, Messi and Ozil assisted more.
Mkhitaryan is hard working, and a admittedly simplified way of looking at the wide players Mourinho had at his disposal, whilst managing Real Madrid would be a goal scorer on the left (Ronald) and assist machine on the right (Di Maria.) A firing on all cylinders Memphis would be a goal scoring forward. As for Martial, since we stopped playing a 4-3-3 with the point forward, where Martial was essentially playing as a left winger, the change to the 4-1-4-1 system as led to him initially being a left midfielder with the license to ghost into goal scoring areas as a left forward do, and this had led to him scoring 5 goals and 1 assist
