Right Winger... Who do we go for?

Isn't he the guy who recommended us Pogba and Martial? Would be strange if true.

Not sure about the later (Martial) if he wasn't then it explains a lot, we've apparently already lined up the new french scout.
Also we missed Kante and Payet

Have read reports on various websites that our French scout really, really rates Adam Ounas and our interest in him is legit. If I'm not wrong, then he plays at the right wing aswell.
David Friio is the scout right? or someone else?

I'm going to start a debate as I'm torn between 2 players for the Right wing spot

Mahrez vs Mkhitaryan

Age: Mahrez 25 - 27 Mkhitaryan
Goals: Mahrez 18 - 23 Mkhitaryan
Assists: Mahrez 10 - 32 Mkhitaryan
Matches: Mahrez 39 - 52 Mkhitaryan
Goals per Min: Mahrez 172 - 190 Mkhitaryan
2 different types of players; Mahrez' best attributes are his Dribbling, Eye for goal, Vision and Skills. Mkhitaryan's best attributes are his Speed, Eye for goal, Vision & High workrates.

Martial is more like Mahrez than Mkhitaryan. Martial and Mahrez don't have the workrate of Mkhitaryan which is what we lack hence LVG playing Lingard a lot on the right. Mourinho also likes a hardworking winger.

Mahrez can create things out of nothing using his skill and dribbling whereas Mkhitaryan relies on his speed and player movement around him. Mahrez also has that wow factor and will bring back the entertainment.

Martial - Ibra - Mahrez would be more exiting but would lack the energy compared to a Martial - Ibra - Mkhitaryan which could be key in counters if Mourinho brings that element back to United which I am sure he will.

I think Ibra would benefit Mkhitaryan more than Mahrez as Vardy was running through the channels all day long making the moment for Mahrez and co. To play him in. I can't see Ibra running through the channels, I think Mkhitaryan would be the legs like Di Maria was last season for PSG. But watching highlights of Mahrez makes me smile and wonder what kind of impact he could have with us.

The right footed left footed debate doesn't really matter as Mkhitaryan has a great left foot (Mahrez left footed).

Both would do wonders here I reckon and both available for a similar price. Mahrez probably the more expensive.

So what do people think?

I prefer Mahrez but I think that both Mahrez and Mkhitaryan can easily coexist in the same team. Mkhitaryan is versatile enough to play centrally so you can use him in a #10 role.

Pft.. That makes me smile, I didn't think of that.

Ibrahimovic
Martial - Mkhitaryan - Mahrez

Now that's a scary front 4. Only problem is if Mourinho opts to go for a 433, all these links to midfielders are hinting that he could be leaning towards a 433.

Mkhitaryan is a hard worker so that would be a 4-3-3 without the ball, but you're forgetting the Alabama tick.

Wayne? I really think he's going to play midfield under Mourinho wether we like it or not. Iv also got a strange feeling Mourinho will utilise Schweinsteiger alot and favour him over Schniederlin.

Ibrahimovic
Martial - Mkhitaryan - Mahrez
Rooney - Scheiderlin
Shaw - Bailly? - Mike - Valencia
David

Or if we sign just 1 of Mahrez/Mkhitaryan

Martial - Ibra - Mkhitaryan
Rooney - Herrera
Schweinsteiger
Shaw - Bailly - Mike - Valencia
David

I can't see Mourinho putting Rooney in the double pivot, unlike LvG he seems to actually favour playing players in the proper positions the majority of the time, and Rooney's isn't a playmaker so putting him next do someone limited like Schneiderlin would make it difficult for us to build attacks from midfield.

I think we'll play a 4-3-3 with Rooney sharing the attacking and creative duties with another CM like Pjanic/Pogba/Gomes, with a holder behind them, Schweinsteiger being a possibility.

I like the look of a deal for mkhitaryan, he's got a year left on his deal and won't renew at Dortmund, so they don't wanna lose another top player on a free, a deal outside the bundasligua is also a plus for them, he's got great stats and would also fit into a Jose archetypal winger role due to his work ethic.

433 is the most likely formation but I don't see us signing any of the players you mentioned bar Gomes and he isn't really an upgrade on Herrera. I'd like us to get Pjanic or Pogba but can't see it happening. If it's between Herrera and Gomes I'd rather us stick with Herrera, one of our most passionate players.

Yeah he pretty much is what Mourinho wants in a winger, I hope we are in for him

That attack looks good. Unfortunately, we have not been linked with Mkhitaryan or Mahrez (just Arsenal).

It seems that Gomes is our target and a winger like Lozano/Ounas. But anything can happen, maybe we could end up signing a top player like Pogba or Griezmann, but I feel is a bit unrealistic at the moment.

Sometimes Zlatan plays as false 9, so I guess we would be more effective with a 433 formation. BTW, Mkhitaryan and Mahrez had impressive stats last season. I think they are in the top 10 of WhoScored.

I don't think Januzaj should be ruled out entirely. He seems to have lost his way over the last year, but with an attacking midfield and some confidence from the manager he can still be a class player perhaps. Many of the players we have been linked with are equivalents to Adnan after his break out year. The likes of Dembele, Ounas or Sane were also 18 year olds who had great debut seasons like Januzaj, and there is no telling they would not suffer similar dips.

I remember how Mourinho was talking about Adnan during that year before we went to the Bridge. 'This is not a normal 18 year old, he is 25' etc. Hypothetically, alongside Zlatan and Martial, and in front of Pogba/Herrera (don't get caught up with these hypotheticals) - he could still possibly shine. He is gifted.
Those quotes from Mourinho are interesting, given that he doesn't strike me as the kind of player he'd have much time for. I agree though, I don't want to give up on Januzaj and still think he has plenty to offer us.

You might be right on the ones I mentioned, but it would be nice to add a bit of genuine proven quality to the midfield, I honestly think relying on Rooney and Herrera as our two #8's would see us struggle.

We haven't been linked with him as far as I'm aware, but what about Sofiane Feghouli of Valencia? Word is he's out of a contract, and I've always been a big fan. He's quite skillful and works very hard. Sounds like West Ham are closing in on him, but I reckon he'd be a good option for us.

Might be an option, really not very productive though with 5 goals and 4 assists in 33 matches, compare that with Mkhitaryan

To be fair, Valencia have had a pretty poor season across the board. And I think his physicality is more suited to the premier league than someone like Mikhitaryan. Not denying the latter is a better player, but I'm wondering if the former might suit us more.

At the very least, I have a feeling that if West Ham sign him, he will impress, and everyone else is going to wonder how he slipped under the radar.

Still think we have written off Depay far too quickly, even just by some of the things he has done in a United shirt let alone PSV. There were 2 patches were he was almost unplayable in the CL qualifiers and even against Midtjylland and a few games after that. I feel he needs to be reinstated with a great sense of confidence and belonging and he will look an all new player.

Having said that and even though we would all love a Bale/Greizemann/Reus as a RW a more realistic option that sounds very appealing is Mkhitaryan, if his contract is up for debate and he is unwilling to sign he would be a good pick up. But I wouldn't say no to one of the fore-mentioned trio either

PSG have a bloke called Di Maria who would look pretty damn good in a United shirt....

I hope we can sign someone for the RW. There isn't a name that sticks out though.

Both fantastic players, Mahrez would cost £40m and I see Mkhitaryan as more of a central player. Would take Mahrez for sure though.

Mkhitaryan has just come off his best season playing on the RW but it seems he is off to Arsenal.

Mkhitaryan is a real Mourinho signing. If he's available we should be all over him. If we can get Mahrez too that's a frightening thought. That front line of Mahrez, Mickey, Martial and Ibra oozes goals and assists to high heaven. They're a title-winning group of attackers.

Jose might be thinking Valencia could be his Willian.

As much as I'm not sold on him I think Jesse Lingard is a player that will appeal to Mourinho. High work rate and pace, and who knows maybe Mou can do whatever it is that he does to improve his shyte decision making and turn him into a poor man's Willian.

We should be aiming higher than a poor man's version of an average player.

I think the Mourinho comments about Januzaj were just him playing games before playing us

I'm not speaking for or against anything but the fact remains so far Adam Ounas is the only winger we've been concretely linked to and Lingard does have some qualities our new manager likes.

*Linked to Arsenal, nothing solid yet... We could easily high jack the move, Mourinho stealing a star off Arsene, Can just picture his face now

Mahrez has hinted he wants to stay and Leicester say they aren't selling at any price.

Everyone has a price, drop £35m/£40m down and I'm sure they'd highly consider it, Mahrez might even push for a move.

Mkhitaryan should be a target high up on our list as like you said he is the real deal Mourinho type signing. I honestly don't care who we get because it will be an upgrade wether it's Mkhitaryan, Mahrez or Ounas.

And yes that is a scary lineup

Lingard is fine as a squad player but that right side was one of the weakest elements of our team last season, not addressing would be crazy IMO.

I am sure he'd get a kick out of it but I don't think we have even been linked with him, Ounas and the Mexican kid are the only 2 wide players we've been linked with in the last few weeks.

If Martial is going to play down the left in either a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, I'd expect a more disciplined right hand side. I can't see us splurging cash for a right winger until next year.

Young, Lingard, Memphis, Rashford, Januzaj, Rooney, Mata, Valencia can all play there. None of them are world beaters and some will be sold but I can't see all of them being jettisoned before the end of August.

If Shaw and Martial can get something working on the left, I don't see the need to add a new face to the right hand side of the pitch immediately.

If we don't Martial will be double teamed all of the time just like last season. I don't get the need for one wing to essentially be a dead zone, this defensive winger shit is backwards and needs to die. Plus we are adding a 35 year old striker who thrives on pace flanking him either side.
