Right Winger... Who do we go for?

Good point, Money perhaps, Mourinho factor... Other than that I got nothing

Thread still open :(
To be honest, for all the Leicester players it's a once in a career opportunity to take a team to the next level. They're in the champions league for god sake! They'll almost certainly all get wage increases, especially Mahrez, Vardy and Kante. They'll probably sign some good players too.

Can't see any of them leaving unless teams like Bayern/Barca/Madrid go after them.

Yeah very true, I do hope they all stay together (unless Mahrez wants to join us ) I honestly think they will do pretty well in Europe!

Who do you suppose we should sign/be looking at for that Right Wing spot then bud?
No Mahrez, No Dembele who you thinking?

Mahrez's own agent came out and said that it's 50-50 whether Mahrez will be at Leicester next season.

They have already done that by elevating Leicester from relegation strugglers to champions and would most probably view this as the time to cash in. If we bring in Mourinho and offer to double/triple his wages he will come running. The only fear for me is whether he won't do what Klopp's ex Dortmund players used to do after big moves, with the exception of Lewa, and fail miserably after leaving a system and cir that suited them well.

We need a lot more than that unless we want to finish outside the top 4, we don't have a top striker and our midfield is pathetic, Jose Mourinho wont suddenly make that shower into world beaters.

Can't believe people are still saying this after watching Leicester all season?

I'd take Martial, Rashford and Rooney over Vardy, Okazaki and Ulloa, Kane, Son and N'Jie or Giroud, Welbeck and Walcott. You can't say we have poor strikers when they have been feeding off scraps all year.

Tactics and bizarre pairings have made our midfield look pathetic during the last 6 or so months. We actually dominated midfield in the early stages of the season. Yes we kept useless possession a lot, but that was down to not having any wingers who could beat a man and create space. The ball kept going wide to Memphis, Mata or Young, only to be recycled back into midfield because they couldn't create anything.

Yes, i'd welcome and creative spark in the middle. Yes I'd welcome a 25+ goal striker. Yes i'd welcome a world class center back. But they aren't as necessary as you make out. eg: would Hummels, Gundogan and Lukaku improve us more than just buying Greizmann? I don't think they would. The problem's we have been facing all season still wouldn't be addressed.

I don't know about Rooney over Kane (I know you were rating them as groups overall) but I do hope the club is being run well enough to at least be considering something like the above.

I wouldn't be too upset if we just buy one top RW and see how things fall into place from there. Attack is the best form of defense and all that. Plus the youngsters look promising.

(Off topic, but I do think we need a top creative passer in CM though. Scholes' influence seems to have been underrated in terms of how teams played against us. He often single-handedly kept most teams largely in their own half. It's one thing having wingers that can beat their men. It's a completely different beast having a CM who can ping balls at will to the feet of any one of five or six attackers making any kind of run imaginable, hence usually the opposition had to stay back.)

Nabil Fekir from Lyon
Just back from injury but has scored 4 x with 2 assists in 10
Was making his French debut with Martial when injured - otherwise was nailed on to be a big young star of Euros
Creative/dribbler/excellent passer/scores goals

He will be a Martial like Signing imo, the impact he will have... He put Lacazette on the map for god sake. Sign him up Lou... Mourinho

Leicester's season is a fluke in odd circumstances where they have had 3 players performing at a world class level for the whole season, next season will be much tougher as teams like City, Chelsea and Liverpool wont be just sitting still.

I can't see how you put Rooney above any of them as he's finished, his problem hasn't been lack of goals it's the terrible lack of quality and mobility in the rest of his game. I also can't see including a kid who has a dozen games under his belt as a starter.

We've tried all the combinations in the midfield and they have all been poor. Carrick is the only quality we have in midfield and he's 35 with no legs. Schneiderlin, Herrera and Fellaini have had their chances and under-performed time and again, and in the case of Herrera I don't even think he's a proper CM. Then there's Schweini who is an injury prone has-been. Our midfield needs an injection of both athleticism and someone with the ability to do what Carrick does but 10 years younger.

Adding Greizmann alone wont change much, we'd still have an 18 year old at #9, no proper RW and nobody in midfield that could supply the service Griezmann needs as he's not a creator.

Can someone help me out, Mahrez looks like a no go because why would he leave a champions league club for a club without it (I also believe Vardy, Mahrez & Kante will all stay for 1 season). Dembele has gone to Doutmund. Who are our options for the RW/RM spot??

Sane? Personally I don't see all the hype
Feghouli on a free?
Salah??
Hulk?!?!

Embolo?
A front three of
Embolo....rashford....martial
Would be exciting though we would probably have to expect some inconsistencies given their ages

Martials best position is LW so I would have him start as a left winger.
Problem is bar Mahrez, there are no real talented RWs availible.
Haven't seen enough of Embolo to coment.

Nah, Leicester are premier league champions and are now, obviously, in the CL. The next couple of years could permanently transform the club aslong as their best players stay and they build on it.

@Cheekiey I'm not sure, it depends what sort of system we play next year. We could easily play with 3 forwards like Barca do, and have Martial on the left, Rashford/new purchase in the middle and someone like Griezmann on the right. If we play with actual wingers then I'm not sure. I'll trust the scouts to get us another Martial but for the right!

The hype is probably over the top, but he's definitely talented and would be a good signing.

I'd love us to have him. But I am not sure Martial, Rashford and Embolo would work together or it's not ideal.

There is no point playing Rashford/Griezmann there because that's not their best position. We should be looking for actual right wingers who can create/beat their man/dribble well/cross decently/score. Preferably young too. I can think of two:
Ounas and Sané are some of the best that aren't already moving and seem attainable. Maybe even Nabil Fekir, but I thought he was more of a #10/SS?

They wouldn't be that hard to sign either. I am certain that if we just paid the money their clubs would accept. Shalke accepted the Draxler bid after all and he was at their time one of their best players if I am not mistaken. I think that we should stop dilly dallying and sign one of them and maybe even both. We should be quick and efficient in signing the players we need, just like Bayern.

I am so sick of hearing people overvalue being in the CL for a single season as a factor in player's decision making.

Firstly, very few teams in the CL even have a feasible chance of winning the thing.

Secondly, it's one fecking season. Players sign five year deals.

I just can't believe anyone would question why a player would leave Leicester, regardless of a PL win a CL campaign, for United.

It's baffling.

Agree we had a poor centre back in Rojo at left back and Darmain who is one of the worst attacking full backs ever on the right side. Mata is a bit shit at right wing and keep cutting back or square the only out we had was Martial. Plus we never had a scoring threat from centre mid or corners as LVG had one of our centre backs taking corners and Rojo not even going forward for corners! Mental season with this manager in fact baffling at times we also had Rojo Blind Valencia Lingard Rooney Martial Mata playing consistently out of position. We actually looked better when we had an 18 year old at centre forward.

I think if Jovetic is available, we should go in for him.

And not only him. Inter have some interesting players we could snatch and Mourinho might have the key to get some dealios done.

Jovetic isn't really a winger. He wasn't great when he was in England. Infact he barely played because he was injured so much.

People want to compete for the biggest trophies and play for the top clubs. At least the players that people on here want to sign. We dont belong to the top 6 clubs anymore and if a player can chose between clubs competing for trophies and playing in the CL, they most likely opt for such club. Yes, CL can have a big influence and who said we will reach a top 4 position next year?

Strange when we were regularly in CL finals and dominating the domestic leagues we often lost out on players (almost always) to lesser teams sometimes out of the top 4 offering bigger money and a "project".......

United didnt spend too big during Fergie's last years. Many fans complained that we were not willing to pay what it took to get the player.

Based on this season this will not be the most popular but I have to have faith in Memphis and that another manager can get him to play up to his abilities. I would like to see something like

-------------------Martial-------------------
Memphis-------------------------Rashford

where they all have the freedom to roam around the front three positions. They all have pace, skill on the ball, and the ability to beat a man (Memphis still to prove that in PL). Rashford may be best up top but Martial probably is as well. We have only been playing Martial on the left because Memphis has been bad and Rashford stepped it up. Mata should be no where near the right and Lingard works hard but the quality isn't there like it is with Rashford. In a perfect world, I would like to see this given a shot when Memphis' confidence isn't picking turnips with a stepladder.

I guess Mahrez and Sane are the best available options. Do you think Lucas Moura is realistic?

I'd prefer Mahrez with Jesse and you as back up
Don't think i'm gonna stick around as back up;)
Jesse will probably be moved on by the new manager. Mahrez would be good but will cost close to £50m.

Sane would be my choice but Schalke would demand minimum £30m for him.

£50m Mahrez really? Prices are going to be mental this year. price apart would be a good signing. I'd also like Mane from Southampton and Zlatan up top.
Zlatan
Martial. Mane Mahrez

That front 4 has a great mix about it with all players complimenting each other plus with plenty goals in it and would run riot in the league next year. Sign them up.

I hope the link to Sane pans out, he'd be great on the opposite flank to Martial, giving us a double threat. I get the feeling Mahrez will stay where he is and I hope we don't touch Mane with a barge poll. If Sane doesn't happen I guess Rafa Silva might be an option.

I like the look of Leroy Sane (20) but I don't think he'll find it quite as easy as Martial has done in his first season, and with any young player there is always risk (see Memphis). We may struggle to compete with other big clubs and their offer of CL football though. He's phenomenal in one-on-one dribbling

Sadio Mane (24) is a good, reliable option but may be a little expensive. He only has two years left on his contract though so they may look to cash in this summer. He can also play anywhere across the pitch and is definitely the best goal scoring threat available.

Nabil Fekir (22) is a player that I've liked for a while, but he has had a torrid time with injury. He is contracted until 2020 though, so again, I wouldn't expect a cheap deal. He's a bit more creative and technical than the other two, a very clever player.

I'd be happy with any of these, but I think my preference would depend upon who we sign/play in the roles of #10 and #9. For example, the pace and goalscoring ability of Mane would be more useful with Mata and Ibrahimovic in the team, whereas the creativity of Fekir would be more useful with the pace of Rashford and off the ball running of Herrera etc
