Ricardo Rodriguez

How good is he defensively? You see people ripping into Baines on here because he was left 2 against 1 for most of the match against Italy but it seems this guy has no issue going forward but do any regular watchers of him know about his defensive game?

Hopefully someone who watches him weekly can come in but, offensively one of the best full-backs in the world, defensively solid whenever I've watched him. He has the second highest rating in the entire Bundesliga this season so he's not one to be a liability defensively and great offensively like some full-backs can be.

I don't understand why people still doubt Rodriguez? Does he need to play in the World Cup final, drop his shorts and score a goal with his cock for people to accept he is a very good player?

He was better than Lichsteiner when I saw Switzerland play. I think he could do well here, if he is willing to leave Wolfsburg.

THAT's what was missing from Moyes' football!

Wouldn't prove he can defend, which is essentially what anyone would purchase a left back for!

Every time I've seen him he's been solid at both ends of the pitch. Been hoping United would be in for him for a long time, wonderful player.

I'd love to see that.
No homo.

He's better than Luke Shaw and he'd be cheaper too.

United have no chance to sign him this summer. He stated very clearly that he will only move to a team that plays CL. With Chelsea and Real Madrid being interested, he'd rather go there.

Wow, just wow....What a silly post, Because we are not in the CL for one season(Most likely), due to our inept previous manager; I guess that means he will just reject Man United, the most popular football club on the planet.

Oh and I guess you're best friends with Rodriquez right? Seeing as you can pretty much guarantee he would rather go to Chelsea or Real Madrid

I can pretty much make a guarantee of my own then, If United were actually in for him and competing with let's say Liverpool or Napoli for his signature. He would choose us over them with or without CL football.

I only ever see you post when you say united have no chance of signing a player.

:D I recommend you read more of my other posts then. On a more serious note, I write about player transfers when I've followed the player or club for a longer time and compare their words with their actions in order to get a feel of they are just bullshitting around or not. Rodriguez is very credible and open in his statements. So is Hummels and so are our (= BVB's) execs Watzke and Zorc. Or Lars Bender from Leverkusen.

But I could have told you for instance that Götze will use his release clause - as he did, that Reus' will use his next summer, too, and that Ilkay would have moved this summer if he hadn't been injured; hampered significantly his chances for a huge signing fee. In other words: United can line up for Marco and Ilkay next summer because if you play CL then, you'll be definitely back in the race.

We don't need Champions league, the Champions league needs us. We are biggest club in the world.

Cute anytime to see that it is beyond so many fans that players set very different priorities than "the biggest club" (which Liverpool fans would question anyways).

Wake up! I also recommend you read my post again as I did not say that he'll move under all circumstances to a CL club this summer but if he moves, then it must be a CL playing club; other wise he'll stay where he is and will move the summer after (with 1 year on his contract left). ETA: Real Madrid is not Napoli.

On top of that: I'm aware that it's a hopeless effort but if a player in the Bundesliga has no exit clause - which RR hasn't - and the club is as filthy rich as Wolfsburg is, they have absolutely no reason to sell him now if they wanna keep him. They are in the driver seat this summer so without their approval Rodriguez is going nowhere. As Wolfsburg stated already very clearly that they wanna win the Europa League and qualify for CL next season, I seriously doubt that they will let Rodriguez go anyway.

I struggle to believe that Chelsea are interested.

Lets start our own European Tournament, we could get AC Milan, Valencia, Werder Bremen and maybe Rangers to take part.

TV companies would pay and we're still a big draw in places like the middle east. There's some big clubs without European football, we're all just going through bad times at the moment so we should group together.

Lichsteiner had a stinker of a match, very uncharacteristic but most of the team looked out of sorts - jetlag?

Rodriguez has a great future

I don't think United has a chance to sign anyone. This is the last season of our existence. The Glazers are about to sell their assets, pack up and leave.

Heard some rumours that Old Trafford will become a giant park.

The Wolfsburg Allgemeine (local newspaper of Wolfsburg) has the information that Wolfsburg has received an offer from Manchester United.

Just a little background information I can add to this - the former assistant coach of Wolfsburg Andries Jonker has been van Gaal's assistant since the Barcelona times.

Would be a strange one considering we've just spent near enough £30m on a left back when both would obviously want and expect to be first choice there. Would've preferred Rodriguez to Shaw before but after we've signed him I can't see how it'd be a good move now.

This would make no sense unless Shaw was bought by the club so to speak, which i highly doubt.

Quality player and currently a superior player than Shaw, but it would create more problems than solve. Shaw needs continual game-time otherwise his development will stagnate - much like Smalling and Jones - and we wouldn't spend £30M on a fulllback simply to rotate him so often. Perhaps Rodriguez could be converted into a winger, as he is excellent going forward.

Obviously a team that has just spent £30m on a left back and has urgent issues across other areas of the field will go out and spend £20-25m on another left back.

Have to say I would have signed Rodriguez over Shaw

same

EDIT: He isn't going to cost £20m more likely £10-£15m

Would signal the end of Evra

Wouldn't make sense spending at least £20m on someone to replace Evra when he's better than someone we've just spend £30m on in the same position, neither will wanna be back up.

This would only make sense if LVG see's one of Shaw or Rodriguez in another role, or at least back-up to another role, other than left back. It's too much to spend on back-up for just one position. Maybe he wants to play 3-5-2 with one of them the left-sided centre back? It's strange for us to spend big twice on the same position like this.

I would love him here. we should also buy Coentrao and Marcelo and add Alba as well. we should keep Evra too.
