Renato Sanches

I'm not completely sold to be honest. I mean 60 million euros will be enough to prise away a top player like Kroos, isn't it?

60m euros for a guy that played 20 games or so at pro level? Why I'm not surprised that's us paying that(or to put it better - overpaying).

...and if Kroos is keen to come here Woodward will definitely be ready to spend another sum without confronting it with Sanches deal.

I don't see a problem.

120m for 2 midfielders, here you have your problem.

Seems a lot of it will be performance related addons

What did you expect, Fergie's typical Scottish shopping list ? Both Lvg and Jose are quite the spenders, that's the reality.

Guy like Simeone could probably spend less but unfortunately he's not on the menu this year.

I expect the club to not act like morons, but unfortunately that's not on the menu either.

But I disliked Schneiderlin fee, so I'm probably the problem.

We both want better players arriving here and it's the reality that dictates rules to the surroundings and there's no other way around it. We want squad improvements therefore we'll need to satisfy the agents and selling clubs.

Perhaps this is perfect time when qualified sport director coming in with a real plan to stop this madness and attract players for reasonable prices. At some point it may be a solution to problems which believe me are not caused by you or other supporters.

Mourinho and LVG both favour 4231 so in a year or 2 we could have Sanches and TFM playing the two pivot roles. Excellent physical attributes in there and in the big games I'd love to see it

Don't want

He comes from The Portuguese league and that just strikes fear of another Anderson or Nani or even worse someone like Gaitan (albeit at least then he won't actually sign and it'll just be the endless rumours we have to put up with)

I think Mourinho favours a 4-3-3, but switches to a 4-2-3-1 when he has to accommodate one or more luxury players.

Luckily, Martial is quite hard working. That may be enough to convince him to go 4-3-3.

Pep seems to think quite highly of him.
This was after the first leg

He may actually think that but I was listening to Football Weekly a few weeks ago and Sid Lowe was saying how Pep tends to be extermely generous when heaping praise on their next opponents and their players, so take his word with a pinch of salt.

Well, regardless. Our scouting network is kinda crap. We should never pay that kind of money, addons or not.

Should be some kind of world record as well. Can't recall a similar transfer for that amount of money. For 60m you should buy established players not potential..

Didn't he call Welbeck worldclass before we faced them.

Schweinsteiger, Blind and TFM should be there too as I imagine we'll buy a proper LCB in the summer.

Blind should be our LCB. He's been excellent there this season, in my opinion. Mensah can be versatile until he stamps down a position. I wouldn't lose sleep if we got rid of Schweistieger, if i'm being honest.

That's some depressing shit right there.

What would you have? Realism, please.

I'm sure he did the same with Valencia before the United v Barca match leading to many United fans saying Valencia was among the top 3 wingers in the world. A view many fans still have ingrained in their subconscious.

The question is whether Pep would showed any serious interest in Valencia or Sanches if the opportunity arose? I seriously doubt it. Pep is an intelligent man and I wouldn't put mind games.

It almost reminds me of when Fergie hyped Charlie Adam, even some of our fans were convinced by it. What happened? Liverpool overpaid.

Can confirm, Pep does that all the time.

Scouts don't decide the price. Just the talent

I like what I've seen of him. I said Martial would be great for us, so naturally I'm a top level talent scout. Whoever gets him will consider the fee a bargain in a few years :)

Not too sure about this. Will he be a Memphis or a Martial, I wonder...

He is 18. His price is only going to increase the older he gets.
Not really. He could prove to be injury prone, and more significantly he could not be all that good. Loads of young players have been touted for big money which puts off clubs and in the end they turn out not be worth the hype.

From what I hear he looks like the new Ronaldo but could be the new Anderson with a slight touch of Bebe and William Carvalho.
Edit ohh and Ronaldinho to.

Hard to detect sarcasm on forums, but with him being a kid from a smaller European league, like Memphis and Martial was, I was wondering whether he'd be a failure or a success.
