Renato Sanches

You can't seriously think players like Martial, Sanches, Stones and Shaw will be in the reserves. 3 of them he tried to sign for Chelsea and Sanches will be sanctioned by him considering he will be the next manager.
We haven't signed either sanchez or stones, and you'll note that none of those players actually are from manchester, which is the aspect we can kiss goodbye to.

Also, if any of these players don't perform for a spell then we can expect them to be given up on.

I also don't really think we know enough about renato sanchez to laugh off the idea of mourinho not starting him regularly in CM for a team he will want to win every game lol. He has left some pretty good talents out of teams that were a lot more highly regarded as teenagers, KDB and Lukaku just without even thinking about it, no consistent enough and not interested. In fairness if he dishes out 40m for sanchez, which makes him our big summer signing, then he would obviously intend to play him, but I don't think that is just on merit given that he is very unproven, even if he did play a good game vs zenith at some point

If they're good enaugh do you not think they'll start? The biggest stick people beat him with was this obvious mega talent called Loftus-Cheek yet he hasn't exactly wowed with his performances. He gave a genuine talent in Zouma plenty of chsnces. Varane at Madrid as well.
the likes of mensah lingard and rashford won't start. We know from history, with good certainty, that he will simply prefer a 28-29 year old player who works hard vs a talented or exciting but inconsistent player.

He seems to like strong young CBs who have experience in other leagues or teams so maybe he would like someone like laporte who is young but proven. Expecting him to bring through a raw talent like mensah or rashford or wilson or periera is based on nothing from mourinhos career to date

Mourinho has an excellent record in the transfer market so if he likes the kid I'm all for it. We should be targeting the best young players around Europe.

He a bit Essien like? Remember his price being seen as a lot way back when.

Glad we've got Martial obviously, but we still overpaid considerably at the time. This reported sum for a CM prospect is just more extreme overpaying. Will I care if he ends up like Martial? Nope. Anderson? Yes.

We're rich, but what's the point in being rich if you're being ripped off?

Exactly! We're essentially levelling the playing field all by ourselves. That being said time will tell whether we are being ripped off with Renato (love that name). Still would've preferred Ruben Neves.

I've been trying to catch Benfica games for a few months now to watch him and I really like what I've seen. He plays a lot like Kante, very aggressive with fantastic pace, strength and stamina.

When we were first linked with him I was a bit sceptical because we had just signed two defensive midfielders last summer. But the more I think about it the more sensible it seems. Carrick should be let go at the end of the season and Schweinsteiger's fitness is a joke so there will be plenty of opportunities for him to play.

I think there are a number of reasons why we might prefer Renato. Ruben Neves could take a number of years before he's physically ready for England. Also a huge problem is our midfield lacks dynamism. Ruben is more of a control type deep lying player. The club might want someone more experienced for that role. We've been linked with Kroos.

I know him and Renato perform different roles but on occasion I've seen Ruben play the box to box role and he impressed. I'm not sure Kroos is the answer for us, as good as he is but I see what you're getting at with the need for experience.

From a personal viewpoint, I would very much like a transfer thread which I started to end up in a transfer.

I started the Martial thread, my greatest caf achievement as he's actually our best fecking player too!

Welcome Renato Sanches. You will get slaughtered on here before kicking a ball for us
Martial said a lot of e criticism in the press went past him cause he could speak English. Expect the same kind of media criticism when this is announced.

Pleased with this signing, would rather sign him for good money now than astronomical money later on in his career if he turns out to be very good.

Not signed him yet. A million miles off anything being confirmed.

Today I have read that he is Brazilian, that he scored against Bayern and now that he is dubbed the new Ronaldinho. Journalists these days.:lol::lol::lol:

The figures being thrown around are astronomical.
When you consider how much money is being ploughed into the PL, it will probably become the norm mate.

It doesn't help when others are being smarter with their money by making more effective signings that are moving them forward whilst we are spending by the backet yet continue to regress. We desperately need to change the way our business is being done.

Just seems like a ridiculous sum, from the admittedly limited amount I've seen of him he just seems very underwhelming.

Like who? Spurs?

Never watched him play. That's a lot of $$$. I know it's not my money, but a lot to pay for potential.

I don't agree with this. We are trying to sign the absolute best talents, the next Neymar, Vidal and so on. We are not looking for the next Mata or Schneiderlin or other players in that bracket but the next world stars. The only way to do this is to get them early before Barca, Real, Bayern and the rest gets interested because at the moment we can't compete with them. Problem is the selling clubs know when they have struck gold with a youth player and if they are to let go of them early they will demand big money.
