Renato Sanches

Mate maybe that's applicable for you. You'll see loads and loads of posts moaning about his price even before he plays a match for us.

It's more a request than anything else, I complain about the fees before the transfers but I hate when people use it against a player. I will use it against Woodward and Berta though .

GOAT has spoken.

Renato is ours, means Jose is also close.
I doubt it means Jose is close. Van Gaal wanted him in January. Di Marzio and other top Portugese journalists said we bid for him but could push through a deal.

This kind of quashes the prospect of Fosu-Mensah having a long-term role in midfield.

So what's this mean now that Rooney thinks he's the next Scholes and we already have Herrera who needs more games plus Fellaini who's also been doing quite well? Hopefully the exit of Carrick and Schweini with Schneiderlin and Blind being the two options in defensive midfield?

A new Brazilian has enchanted Manchester United. The Brazilian in discussion is Renato Sanches, Benfica’s midfielder is commonly hailed as the next big thing in Portugal. He has convinced the world football panorama through his performances and scoring important goals such as that against Bayern in the Champions League. The Red Devils are ready to invest as much as 60 million in the youngster born in 1997 that they will pay in installments throughout four years. It’s still much too early to say that anything is official but at Carrington everyone is feeling very optimistic towards the signing of the young Brazilian. The player has been followed intensely by the scouts and supervisory board and has convinced everyone, including Sir Alex Ferguson. Although not yet official it’s very possible that Sanches’s next home might just be at Old Trafford.

Brazillian?

Someone like Mourinho would love to play Sanches and Fosu-Mensah behind a #10 ala Ozil or James.

fecking great hair, at the very least. For some reason I'm really excited about this transfer.

Is he better as a box to box or holding midfielder?

I've only seen him against Munich, but he didn't look a holding midfielder to me. Reading this thread he seems to be a box-to-box midfielder.

Great signing, hopefully.

He is a box to box not a DM.

Ok, cheers. I did watch him against Bayern, but he seemed to be playing in front of the back four. Guess that was down to the way Bayern played.

I imagine Mourinho has a strong grasp of the footballing talent in Portugal, so hopefully he sees Renato as a top midfielder in 3-4 years time.

Yeah, you have to play like vs Barca/Bayern. From every clip I watch of him, he's bursting forward and using his upper body strength well. Looks to me to be an all-action box to box midfielder.

They don't play the same position in midfield, Fosu-Mensah is a DM and Sanches is a box to box player.

There is no problem with Renato, he is a talented player and if he exploits his potential, he will be a valuable player for us. The problem is that we are destroying the market and all the clubs will expect that type of deals from us.

This is a worry. You get the feeling we've given up trying to sign marquee players and now, we are throwing the money at youngsters.
Every talented youngster at second tier European clubs will be going for €40m anytime we come knocking. The Martial transfer really changes things IMO.

I really don't like it because it's pointless to be 3 times richer than anybody else, if everything costs you 3 times more. We are effectively making our wealth inoperant.
