I don't agree they couldn't play together - it's a squad game and trying to pigeon hole people is not always appropriate. I remember people saying Keane and Nicky Butt couldn't play together - good players with discipline can always work, you just might not choose them together in every game.

Calling Sanches as good as Schneiderlin already is just absurd.
It's not really though is it? I don't rate Schneiderlin particularly and I do rate Sanches.
They do perform slightly different roles though, not suggesting we get rid of anyone (except Fellaini).
It really is. Schneiderlin was one of the best midfielders in the PL for Southampton and a French international while Sanches has played 5 months of football in a second rate league. It isn't even fecking close.
Might as well call Rashford one of the best strikers in the world.
When comparing them you conveniently left out that Sanches is a Portuguese International and has performed at a high level in the latter stages of the Champions League in which Schneiderlin hasn't even played.
Case in point, Bazoer from Ajax wouldn't cost us nearly as much as the ludicrous fee Benfica want for Sanches and he's a better player.
They could both play together anyway. Mourinho is probably going to prefer a 433 with us. Sanches/Herrera/schneiderlin could easily be the best midfield for us. Full of running, all combative. Let them do the dog work for the front 3.
The funny thing is that if we pay 40m, Benfica will use that money to buy at least 10 players and iirc they have been linked to Bentancur who is supposed to be in Sanches's bracket.
I know almost nothing about Bazoer but he seems to be connected to almost all of the big European clubs so if he is as good as most are saying he is I doubt he will be going for for anything less than £30m.

Two friendly matches, you also conveniently left out that was 2 games against Zenit. Average opposition that Schneiderlin would come up against on a regular basis and better in the PL. I'm not even going to bother continuing to argue that Sanches is as good as Schneiderlin, it is simply absurd.

He didn't worry about the fee with Rooney, Rio, De Gea, even Ronaldo. When he identified a young player he wanted he didn't worry about the fee (within reason).
The Portuguese clubs are like talent farmers, they buy in a load of seeds knowing that at least one will grow to bring them profit + more investment capital.
Well that would be a new record for a player from that league but even so, it's nearly £20M less than we are talking about for Sanches, we could get Andre Gomes for that £20M on top of Bazoer.
I'd like to see the club use a bit more logic when dealing with unknown quantities, it's different when you are shopping for established players.
But we are looking for quality not quantity, at least that's what I hope.

That's the thing, Sanches isn't any better than either of them, and I was just using the example to point out how ridiculous the fee Benfica want is.
If he is the talent people are saying and all the top clubs are after him it's just natural that the fee will be big.
Well I have to trust you on that since I have hardly seen Bazoer play.
Neither have lots of really good players...half the French national team midfielders who play ahead of Schneiderlin in fact.
Well I'd say people could certainly debate it but there isn't a £20M gap between them one way or the other IMO.
He openly rejected City for a big fee last season. I think he did that because Barca had their eye on him and approached him. Bazoer is a bigger talent but I doubt he will cost that amount of money. Attackers will naturally command a higher fee and only the world's best CMs will command such a fee.
The pro and anti Sanches brigades are quite hilarious. Hyperboles in both camps.
