Agreed. You also don't always have to spend massive amounts to get players of the required standard, either. That isn't true. Leicester are the fecking best team in the country!
We have the best goalkeeper, best left-back, one of the best right-backs, some of the upper tier of midfielders, the best young player in the world up front. It isn't as simple as us necessarily needing a whole new side. We need about three new players for the first XI, maybe four. We need fresh impetus and ideas more than anything else, but this side is definitely better than we are showing.
De Gea, Darmian, Smalling, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Martial - these are all good enough to start for a title winning side. We then have the likes of Mata, Herrera, Memphis who can also impact well either from the start or as squad players.
We need one or two to lift the attack, some drive in midfield (which Sanches may provide), and a centre-half to partner Smalling.
Dele Alli cost Spurs about £5m last summer and he'd walk into our team at the moment. Last summer Sky were also reporting that we were close to signing Gündoğan for £21.5m and he's a respectable option.
But people always work on the assumption that it'll take at least £50m for us to bring in a competent youngster. It's daft.
