I would much rather spending these amounts on such upcoming potential than 80 or similar on bale or similar. For example I am fine with the Memphis transfer even if it hasn't worked out. That's the kind of players I want us to go for, those who are ready to step up.

Who are all the portuguese guys on here again that can say what he's like? @Arruda , forget who the sporting fan is. Not sure if there was a benfica supporter on here. But would good to hear what they say on him, as they would have definitely seen more of him.

@Sly is the Sporting Lisbon fan.

I guess we're waiting for the NY Stock Exchange to open to announce the signing.

I'd rather Tielmans tbh but sod it, let's have them both!!

Why? He's having a terrible season. Can't even get in the (weak) Anderlecht team. This was supposed to be the season of his big break through, failed completely. Still a big talent though, but has to prove he's mentally strong enough.

There was a Benfica fan once, he got banned because he threatened to punch my face.

I only watch Leicester City nowadays. Can't say I've seen Sanches more than 10 minutes.

Renato Sanches (CM), Laporte (CB), Ruben Neves (CM/DM), Andre Gomes (CM), Bernardo Silva (RW), Goncalo Guedes (RW)and Mourinho are all represented by Jorge Mendes and his agency.

Jorge Mendes is BFF with us, especially Woodward. He represents De Gea and played a certain role in Martial's transfer.

Laporte would be a definite first choice.

Sanches, Neves or Gomes? If Mourinho is appointed, I can see Sanches as being the Ramires-esque type of CM who is more athletic, while Gomes being your classy-Fabregas type of midfielder. As for Neves, we already have an anchorman in Schneiderlin.

Silva is an interesting one. Left footed RW, contributes a lot defensively, which is something Mourinho will love.

Bernardo Silva is too slow to play RW for a Mourinho team IMO.

Bernardo Silva is not slow but he would get bullied in PL.

He seemed desperate for Griezmann when he was at Chelsea. Could be an option.

Rooney is not a Mendez client ;)

Is there anything in particular about the player which makes you say this? A sole judgement from that video and his height/weight, he looks fairly similar in build to Mahrez; who is as slight as they come but he is having absolutely no trouble with the physicality of the league.

If Mata, David Silva and Coutinho manage then Bernardo Silva won't have any troubles. I can see him moving to Spain though personally.

Yup, I agree. Also another example; Afellay plays almost as a central midfielder for Stoke frequently. As the PL money has increased, a lot of these teams are moving away from physicality and actually purchasing technically gifted players from the other European leagues.

Physical defenders in L1 are often able to limit his influence, you can see in the video that he makes few very clear differences. The tougher standard of challenges allowed in PL wouldn't help him.

He can't take on players like Mahrez and doesn't have David Silva's slick passing. I can see his lack of physicality preventing him from reaching the very top despite his talent.

Sign them all, including Neves. Cannot have enough midfielders.;)

Starts tonight against Porto, it should be a better judge of his talent against 1 of the better teams.

He's been linked with Madrid today. However, I think that's just a ploy. Can't see them paying that I'd of money for an 18yo they don't need.

An assist and playing well against Porto. We better have a deal tied up.

First half was excellent, second he really tired out and wasn't involved much, got a little sloppy towards the end.

He's definitely got a lot of talent though, I particularly liked his first time passing with both feet. Takes as little touches as possible which really helps keep the tempo high.

I wasn't impressed at all but I'll cut him some slack given the circumstances; his age and the stage tonight but he is no £60m wonderkid. The hype on this kid is too much considering every time I've seen him. The Medes link and the fact that Portuguese clubs take the opportunity to bd youngsters and keep them in the starting line XI to just inflate their prices. He will be one for the future but we should be after the Neves' and Tielemans'.

So what did Neves do tonight?

I was surprised how deep he played, I was expecting him to be more of a box to box midfielder and get forward a lot more than he did. overall he looked pretty descent and it's pretty obvious he's a real talent.

So what did Neves do tonight?

Only came on for the last 15 minutes and was booked after 12 seconds. Sanches did have a good start to the game and got an assist, but he faded badly and was a non factor in the second half.

Tielemans can't even get into the Anderlecht team atm.

It's not about what he has done tonight but he has done all season.
And Renato has completely revamped Benfica's season since he made the first team. He has been as equally - if not more - impressive than Neves this season.

The Anderlecht subs bench talent bracket? Got it. You really cleared that up.

You're smarter than this. Unless you've watched a player yourself don't judge their talent by whether a manager starts them or not. Managers make baffling decisions re personnel which we are have had a first row ticket to the last two years.

I missed the first half in which he apparently dominated, I wasn't impressed second I did read above he looked tired. He wasn't picking up midfield runners and his distribution was pretty basic. To be a top quality dm you need to be able to destroy and create. Schneiderlin is awful on the ball, look nervous whenever he gets it. I want us to focus on getting a ball playing cb who is more a reader of the game to partner Smalling and moving Blind into his best position as dm. I need to watch Sanches a few more times so I can get an idea on his best position.

An official was at the match according to O Jogo. So it looks like we are still assessing .Don't think they'll be disappointed.
