Religion, what's the point?

Kind of covered really above. Perhaps I could just answer one person on the same question even if it is a name and not another language.

It's really quite simple. The reason you've seen someone on this forum say "God is a cnut" and not "Allah is a cnut" is because this is an English-speaking forum and the poster in question speaks English, not Arabic. Your attempt to portray this as some kind of special victimization of Christianity on this forum is undercut by the fact that the "God is a cnut" post was aimed at a Muslim member, and understood fully by that member as an insult directed at his God, and by the fact that a hypothetical "Allah is a cnut" post would be equally insulting to Christians.

Where have I said any of that? I think someone else apart from me feels offended somehow.

This horse is dead I'm afraid.

So many riders it seems.

It's implied throughout your argument here, that Redcafe members are more prepared to insult "God" than "Allah" because they are "wary of insulting Muslims". If that's not what you're trying to get at then I've no idea what on earth you've been arguing about here.

And why on earth would I be offended?

Oh its implied is it? If you've no idea it doesn't overly concern me. It does seem to me that the discussion is overwhelmingly biased. When you call anyone's God a cnut it's but like me calling your father a cnut, maybe your mother. I don't know either just as you far less knowing God do not even believe in him that's all I'm implying really whatever you call him.
The only horse is the mare that you are having in this thread.
Oh top wum Grinner. It's about what you are good for in a serious discussion isn't it?

The Sun has pictures in it, doesn't mean they are 100% genuine.

So you're saying God has no beard, but Allah is cnut because he has a beard. That's a pretty inflammatory statement coming from a good Christian man like yourself.

I don't know if he has a beard, I was just super impressed that you knew that someone that you do not believe in wears a beard.

Ok then, do you think that if someone does something cnutish then they can be called a cnut?

Do you think it's fair to say that god (be it allah or any of the others) has done anything cnutish according to your guidebook?

OK then, lol.

Of course I don't, what a particularly stupid question.

But isn't your character in The Simpsons just a stylised version of what people think God looks like?

Well, I had never considered that. I just assumed it was god. Now you have me thinking.

Are Kang and Kodos even real then?

So divine retribution isn't cnutish? Why does he have to be such a cnut towards people who don't believe?
God doesn't punish people, he doesn't take Divine Retribution.

It's against everything I've ever been told, read or believe. God is merciful and he loves us, all of us.

You've been told by people who've read the same book as you, which was written by people in the middle east a couple of thousand years ago. Honestly, that's equivalent to me using the bearded god of the Simpsons as evidence for God having a beard.

If you say so, if you have serious questions I will do my best to politely answer them.

My question was genuine. You said "God doesn't punish people, he doesn't take Divine Retribution".

That's not an opinion. It's not a belief. You stated that as fact. I asked how you know this.

Well what do you mean Divine Retribution? I'm afraid it isn't a phrase that means anything to me in the sense of God and Christianity. How does God punish people if that is what you mean?

Divine retribution was your phrase. Anyway, I'm simply asking how you know God doesn't punish people.

Edit: It was Grinner who brought it up, fair enough. My questions still stands though.

No, it was Grinner's phrase:-

I think you picked it up from my reply to Grinner.

Okay I'm willing to try to answer any of your questions but I'm afraid I'd need you to describe how you feel God would supposedly punish people. I'm not trying to be difficult, merely to be clear.

Isn't the bible full of god smiting left, right and center?

I'm not saying God does punish people. Remember, I don't believe a god exists. I'm just asking how you know that he doesn't.

If you had said, I don't believe god punishes people, I'd say "fair enough". But you didn't, you said "God doesn't punish people". That's a claim that you made with some conviction. I'm simply asking how you know.
