Redcafe Snooker

Selby making some terrible mistakes all day today.
Thing is at only 10-7 down after today he won't be as bad tomorrow, at 10-4 down tonight he went from survival mode to probably favourite again. His last 3 frames he won as someone pointed out probably wished the match had continued. I do believe Higgins had his number at 10-4 up but at 10-7 now I think Selby will be better tomorrow. Looking forward to tomorrow and contrary to perception it hasn't been a long drawn out safety, tactical battle but as it nears the last session it could very well do so.

4 Times World Champ Higgins In Not A Complete Mug Shock

(I still quite like him, :nervous:)

How does a snooker player decline? Like Stephen Hendry for example can surely still play the game without any trouble physically.. is it just a mental thing? But surely as you get older and more experienced then shot selection will only improve? I feel like there is an obvious answer but can't think of what it is.

Probably partly mental. When you think about it snooker's an incredibly intense game. Players are regularly having to play two or three shots ahead...ie, they could already have a hard pot, but will also be aware they're going to have to split the pack in a couple of shots, or that there's a red on the cushion and that they're going to need to play for the pink in order to bring the red into play positionally. Safety play is often defined by very fine margins, and again requires a lot of skill. Players also need to be able to adapt depending on who they're playing.

Older, retired players I'd imagine are still superb compared to the average guy down the pub, but I'd imagine that as they age they become more and more prone to odd errors, and odd errors are something you can't really get away with in snooker.

Concentration is the main thing that wanes and it plays such a huge part in the game. I think Hendry lost a little bit of his desire once he won his 7th World Championship as well.

Stage is set perfectly. Should be a cracking first session today. Selby did incredibly well to get the last three frames last night, the man just never gives up. But Higgins has some steel, too, you wouldn't imagine either player will crumble, so it really could go either way.

Oh Murphy...

Convicted of a crime I didn't even commit. Hah! Attempted
murder? Now honestly, what is that? Do they give a Nobel prize
for attempted chemistry? Do they?

Wow this frame is long. This match is definitely more one for the safety play purists.

Tense with lots of pressure on both. I don't mind it, it's final, and last day of the season. Plus, both being tactical demi-gods makes it more so longish.

Does anyone else not necessarily dislike Selby, but always seem to want the other guy to win when he's playing?

The camera angles didn't actually help. Didn't seem to hit though.

Selby looked pissed. Great red from Higgins

Is it over yet? You know things are bad when you want Higgins to win. I bet Selby had pictures of Ebdon and Higgins splattered all over his wall when younger.

Boring but hes owning everyone right now. If Ronnie ain't bothered to turn up then theres noone. Judd noy stepping up, Robbo prefers Xbox addiction lol. Fatty Murphy is at the drive thru, walk over.

John Higgins seems motivated to practice these days but probably has a bet on with Joey Barton and Stephen Lee.

It's just cos he's not the best to watch I guess, but a nightmare to play against. Like Ebdon reached a higher level.

I don't see how everyone else isn't seeing that black move... It looks so clear to me.

I thought it did too. It looked like it hit it so slightly that the black didn't even change position it just sort of got bumped/wobbled on the spot.

It looked like it moved on the first angle they showed, and doesn't on the second angle. Shocked the cameras haven't picked up a better view of it.
