Redcafe Snooker

Not as weird as someone who moans over a period of days about him taking on the pink and not the black. Now that is taking something weirdly to heart.
Replying to people quoting me. Talking about my other half being banged by somebody while I'm at work is infinitely weirder and incredibly puerile.

Welsh Open QF draw:

12:00 Ding Junhui v Neil Robertson
13:00 Mark Selby v Ronnie O'Sullivan
19:00 Michael White v Mark Allen
19:00 Joe Perry v Ben Woollaston

You'd be a bit gutted if you had tickets to the evening session with 2 matches like that being played in the afternoon! I know the scheduling was probably sorted before the draw but still!

Ronnie fecked up there. Really good potting from Ding.

Damn, Robertson & Ronnie killed it today. Beating a player like Ding 5-2, & Selby 5-1...

Fantastic, though I was hoping for a closer match and lotsa fight from Selby. Allen & Perry for the last 2 spots?
Yep, I would guess so.

O'Sullivan when he sustains this sort of temperament is unplayable. Best match he's played in a while, because it showcased his patience as well as his skill.

O'Sullivan was a bit lucky in that game. Messed up an easy black in the 3rd frame going for a 147.

The break in the final frame was nothing other than dismissive, he decided he had no interest in playing a 7th frame.

Did you watch the post game interview with Ronnie after the Selby win?

He makes it clear that at this stage he cares less for titles (and 147s, I take it) and more about enjoying snooker. Puts precedence to keep watching people entertained rather than to win.

You got to give it to the man. Entertain is what he does best. I'd rather watch his 146 to say Ebdon's 147. And rightly so, as others pointed out Ronnie's antics gives the whole sport a better audience rather than a single tournament.

That's probably a big reason why he's still going strong in his 40s whereas the other greats of the sport like Davis and Hendry were burnt out and effectively finished by their early 30s.

Not sure which one it is, the BBC footage or the Eurosport one, the latter I think, but you can clearly here him tell that female ref "lets have a 146 then" not long after he pulls that face, which would be at the point on the BBC one where Willie tells us he held up 10 fingers to him for the money. Like when Janver the ref had to tell him to pot the 147 black v Mark king, if he's in the mood, he makes whatever break he wants!

Robertson #3, Selby #1, Bingham world champ, Judd next in line to entertain yet they all know they ain't the best. Ronnie is and he plays around with the game.

On the Ronnie O'sullivan show Judd and him were speaking and when talking about Selby Ronnie said he's able to grind out frames from nowhere and from behind but went on to say he couldn't play like that, wouldn't want to.

Also on a side note, watched a bit of Mark Allen the other day for the first time in ages.... has he taken up drinking beer regularly and visiting Murphys favourite fast food resturant? Looks well fat these days. What happened to him? Remember all the snooker pundits doing a piece about 5 years ago about how Ronnie and co would be gone and it would be Judd, Selby, Allen as top dogs. He seems way off that. Is he still quite cocky and outspoken on other players or been put back in his box now?

Mr 146 with some work to do, here. Robertson 4-2 up in a first to 9.

Could have a good final on our hands.

Think Robertsons won this already and looking like going 5-2 up here. Don't like him, never have, him and Fatty murphy I liked the least but he's a good player no doubt. Its playing into his hands, lots of scrappy frames with reds going to top of the table and he's being really slow as the comms have said. Ronnie needs to belt up.

Next one's pretty crucial, I think. 5-3 is obviously less than ideal but you're still reasonably in it. 6-2 and it's looking more likely you'll get thrashed than you'll win.

Robertson is the exact player Ronnie doesn't like playing against. You can tell.

Robertson is an offensive. Hard to hate him ffs! He's a very, very good player.
Hopefully Ronnie can turn it round tonight.

WOW, Ronnie lucky to be level at 5-5 there. Robertson completely spazzed up that pink centre pocket and Ronnie gets in among the balls for the first time in ages without them being all over the place or a safety exchange. He should have killed him for that mistake but went slightly of position for a red and missed it. Luckily though Robertson missed that blue centre pocket. Nervy that one.

Would like to see Ronnie get in close the reds, been a bit boring so far as a final.

Can't give Ronnie that many chances. Been behind every frame, Robertson fecks up, Ronnie kills him. Neither playing at their best or close to it, though.
