appreciate the irony of me saying this while he’s just compiled a 147 at the crucible in the world champ final but when you get those shots down his cue - I’m really not a fan of Selby’s cue action. It’s a bit choppy.

Yeah he's only the joint 4th most successful player in history. Maybe he should change it...

I was going to post here yesterday that I have an irrational hatred of his cue action
Just has something of a sawing quality, which is apt for him when he's often such a grinder.

Been absolutely tremendous. On the 40th anniversary of Cliff Thirburns first Crucible maximum now we've had two and the first in a final.
When we do assess it after tomorrow will this years World Championship go down as one of the best ever?
Well either 8-9 or 7-10 overnight.

A maximum on the biggest stage of them all on the sport, that’s some going. Fair play. For me though, that’s where Selby annoys the feck out of me. He is clearly up there with the very best when in full flow but more often than not he resorts to the tumescent game we saw from him against Allen. Again though, take nothing away from a magnificent maximum in the world championship final no less.

 I appreciate that you went ahead and said it anyway!

It’s really unpleasant. One of the things I was told to practice when I was about 13 or 14 was to get a ring, balance it on the table and practice my stroke so the tip passed through the ring in the same spot every time - and to do this for 10 minutes at a time each day to build the muscle memory.

Watching how he cues the ball it’s the opposite of that, the tip is darting all over the white ball, up and down like he’s indecisive about what he’s going to do.

Funnily enough, it’s what a lot of American pool players do to generate extra spin on the ball, Strickland is a good one to watch for that but they have 14mm tips to compensate

Pexbo going all in

First time Luca's body and facial language actually looks a bit off and not incredibly laid back though, realizes the moment. The 147 might have been the breaker, not actually being Selby... stunned a Selby session finished so early.

Another sensational session. What a tournament this has been thus far. Hope tomorrow’s finale continues in this vein.

As much flack as we give him, the crowd response to that 147 was spine tingling. The crucible didn't stop applauding. And the embrace with Luca and Brendan Moore was very wholesome. A top top moment. Feel like Mark is just going to go from strength to strength now. Not that Brecel is playing bad, but the run of the ball tonight just started to go against him towards the end of the session.

We think Brecel will hold on or will Selby suck the life out of him?
I want Brecel to win but I think Selby is going to. Luca just makes too many mistakes on some simple shots. That’s the nature of the beast though, the way he plays, when he’s on it he’s brilliant but what runs parallel with that is the unforced errors in his game. Selby doesn’t need to do that much, I said in a post after the semis that Selby will just let him hang himself and jump all over the mistakes.

Selby has 2 century breaks including a 147 here. I mean, give him some credit, he's not just waiting for Brecel to hang himself

Just brilliant by Brecel again today, he's on fire. To produce this kind of snooker in the worlds final is special.

We're on again. 147 incoming. Easier than Selby's.... dafuq. He played for the blue!

Selby has been in worse predicaments than this countless times but Brecel is producing some of the best and most confident snooker I’ve ever seen.

Ridiculous performance so far today, truly remarkable. I don't think I've ever seen better snooker in a final here.

Missed the evening session last night as I was out but just watched Selbys 147 and I can't help but wonder if there is anything that compares to it in another game or sport?
I watch football, mma, boxing, casually tennis everynow and then and snooker so maybe it's commonplace I'm other games.
In what other individual game/sport would an opponent put the result to one side and start cheering and supporting another player for a bit? It's mad really but definitely a side of snooker which I love so much.

I dare say most of them, when the circumstances suit. But the unique singular achievement just doesn't exist in the sports you mentioned, and there's no real wiggle room to even do it in Boxing/MMA. All of the American sports openly stop the game to celebrate milestone individual achievements to the extremes of having interviews and stuff for LeBron breaking the scoring record, Golfers celebrate a Hole in one, Darts stops for 9 darters etc...

Brilliant response from Brecel after 2 tough frames. Another wonderful clearance with so many shots that were tricky to manufacture.

So it turns out i can't watch this session because I jinx Brecel

:(

Well well, 15-10 to take into the evening session, couldn't have dreamed it any better after yesterday evening. I just hope he holds his nerve tonight.
