Redcafe Snooker

Si barely even played atrocious in that 12-1 run, just a tale of two red hot cues. Luca's was just a bit more savvy, experienced and more importantly, in the second half.... the final will be the first time he'll face a more defensive player regardless of who he plays, so that'll be interesting. Don't think Si would of even got to the final session with Selby though, just not quite there at 20... but he did shows signs of resilience in that rot, he just didn't have the patience/experience to play himself into better opportunities, and took some bonkers shots on....

Great effort from Luca.

Absolutely delighted for him. Would love Mark Allen to win tonight but, either way, just so pleased that Luca managed to complete such an amazing comeback.

These cushions and pockets are much more forgiving than they used to be. No way that black should have gone in then. It’s hit the cushion 3 inch before the knuckle.

Just to clarify, there could be a max possible 20 frame tonight? How exactly has it got this out of whack... I thought there was only 1 ultra slow session?

They're only 3 frames behind - should have had 24 frames in the first 3 sessions, but have had 21 instead. There's actually a maximum 12 frames left, isn't there?

12 frames

Would like to see Allen reach the final if only to guarantee a new name on the trophy.,plus I'm not a fan of Selby at all.

Selby opens the gap to 13-10. Feel like he's got this now.

A video on youtube was suggesting that si was deliberately losing - some questionable easy shots that he missed and some crazy shots attempted too.

Some seriously good acting if he was, you could definitely see he wanted to go in a corner and just cry at times. Unfortunately it's more than likely a click bait video because he's an easy target right now with everything that's gone on.

The crazy shots are what got him as far as he did, he was taking on pots and making them not a lot of others would even dream of
I'd be very surprised if there was any match fixing in such a high profile game as a World Championship Semi-Final, at a time when there's high profile match fixing cases on going, and in such a dramatic way as losing 12 of the last 13 frames to lose a 14-5 lead!

The match fixing allegations were usually 'below the radar' - low key games, or subtle things like losing a particular frame or guaranteeing a final frame decider even if you still won the match. This would be as high profile and unsubtle match fixing as you get - just when match fixing is on everybody's radar.

To what end?
It’s said that a lot of Chinese snooker players are in the grips of Chinese gangsters. They help support them and their families as they practice and learn the game when they’re young. Then they basically own them. They have to throw games with the threat of ‘think of your family’. My sister lived there as a teacher for over 25 years and she said it’s a common issue- not just with snooker players either.

I used to play fifa with my school friends years ago (think it was fifa 2003). Every other week we’d go round to someone’s house and have a tournament where we each played each other. Most games ended 6-5 but there was one guy whose games always ended 0-0 or 1-0. All of his games would be the same, he’d just pass the ball from side to side, get into attacking positions and then again pass the ball side to side, boring us all to death and then he’d typically grab a goal at some point and then keep doing the same thing. Usually once he scored he’d change his formation to park the bus and bring 3 defenders on. He’d always celebrate the winning of each match a little too much too.

Eventually we all got so annoyed/bored with him that we told him we were no longer meeting up for our weekly tournaments (we were, we just didn’t want him there).

That man, is (basically) Mark Selby.

16-11. Allen gets his hand on the table again and doesn't win it in one visit. Now back to another safety battle. He can't keep doing this.

I wanna see this go past midnight for the drama

BIG BOY SNOOKER THIS! Huge shot on the blue, straight in the middle of the pocket. Come on Allen, make it 16-13...

He's missed again when in :wenger:

Thought this shit was over hours ago, switch over on the off chance, and yes, we're rolling into the pack.

This is a stunningly accurate description of my Fifa/PES weekends.... we called him Ebdon, really didn't like it

Just came home from dinner and some drinks, how is this match STILL going on? I know it's an hour earlier in the UK and all, but come on.

I would rather say: Max Allegry :wenger:

He's not there yet, Allen doing his best to keep the challenge alive. At the very least he's exhausting Selby.

I hope Allen comes through and goes on to win the title, he’s been fantastic this last 12 months. I just can’t enjoy watching any match Selby is involved in. Hendry just made a good point on commentary actually about how every has to be precise with Selby and that he should just get on with it and win the match rather than walkinf around the table 3 times just to play a standard safety shot.
