Redcafe Snooker

Granted except for Selby who as Ronnie said before ' he just ties you up in knots'.
Absolutely agree with you this level is on a different tangent altogether.
Thing is how do you tie up THIS? He's just never missing a shot

The pace of play is the one and reds for sure will not be in the open as much, cue ball tied up that's if it is Selby that plays him in the final.

He started to miss a bit vs McGill didn't he. The pressures of a final could affect him. But pace of play is vital as mentioned Need to play your game and not let Selby influence.

Problem is the moment you give him an opening the frame is gone. Even Selby can't tie you up everytime

And this kid doesn't seem to have much of an issue with time, he's no Ronnie/Trump who need to play fast

Only weakness so far is he tends to start unplayable then starts making mistakes late into sessions

It's incredible what a bit of confidence can do, suddenly it's brilliant, attacking snooker from Brecel. We know he has that in him, it just needs to come out more often.

He was very unlucky at the start of the session with two fouls. Scoreline could have been a lot closer

That red Luca cut into the middle should be illegal. At the very least he broke some of the laws of physics. Gif please!

I was begging him to play safe on that last red. Crazy snooker but my god, its brilliant.

That miss on the green by Si, no one saw that coming. Had he potted that, I don't think Brecel had a chance in this match. Now he has a lifeline. Fantastic match.

Can't remember a more entertaining session of snooker in my life.

Selby having a heart attacking watching that type of snooker.

That was snooker of the highest order. Truly spoiled. Watched the game for over forty years and that was special.

Oh dear, weakness detected. Si is feeling the pressure now.
Doesn't seem to be pressure, more fatigue. It's happened to him in pretty much every session he's played. Starts completely unplayable then fades

What I find slightly annoying is the applause for a lot more shots than there used to be.
I am all for it for a great pot or a great positional shot or a great safety or a great get out but not for the fairly basic ones.
It used to annoy me when they would applaud it when the other guy needed snookers and the commentator would say the crowd were a knowledgable bunch when it was just working out basic maths

Just watching some footage now and there is loud applause for a basic cannon and a long red but the red is near the corner pocket and nowhere near the cushion..basic stuff for your average club player.

The contrast in styles between the two semi-finals couldn't be greater. Watching Selby and Allen now, there's just no joy to be found, no fun at all. Just two miserable blokes playing miserable snooker, dragging out frames and stinking up the place.

Please don't let one of them win the final.

Allen's confidence is gone, he'll need something special to get back in the match.

Edit: and then of course Selby misses an easy green and Allen pinches the frame! Makes a world of difference.

Selby is my favourite snooker player and has been for a while now although I do agree with what alot are saying about his style and the contrast between both semi finals.

Reasons I like Selby are I enjoy his slugfests, mental fortitude, safety play being as good as anyone and the fact he can annoy Ronnie

There isn't just one way to play the game and I will continue to enjoy watching him. I do understand why others don't though.

Oh, Selby is incredible at what he does and the most complete player out there, but damn, his style is as much hell on his opponents as the audience

The infuriating thing is he probably could be a much more entertaining player if he just let himself go and play a bit less cerebral, but he won't

Mind you, so far Allen has been even worse

Perhaps there's no wrong way to play snooker, but it still isn't very enjoyable. We're getting long frames, players low on confidence, lots of misses and poor positional play. This is a world championship semi-final, surely we want to see better than this? Not to mention that the long frame times are also leading to unfinished sessions in an already long, gruelling tournament.

You could argue it's up to Allen or whoever Selby's opponent is to maintain their standards and play well, but it's become a pattern over the years that this is what Selby does to even the best players. I guess you can't fault him, as he's the best at it and it's helped him to establishing himself as one of the best and most successful snooker players in the history of the game, but I find it extremely hard to admire him for that. At the same time though, he's also a fantastic break builder when he chooses to be, so it's a shame we don't get to see that side more often.

I would of thought Si would of been far worse than he has to have given up 9 straight nearly... but Luca's just sizzling hot. Ridiculous.

I also wish they'd stop clapping everything, safety's being clapped that aren't all that good....

Si has completely gone. Sad to see but understandable. Brecel has been as good in this comeback as Si was in the first half of the match.

Wondered when Si was finally going to feel the pressure, and it has hit him hard these past two sessions.

All credit to Luca, looked like he was down and out but this is some comeback. Just one away and playing brilliantly. Hard to see any outcome other than 17-14.

Shows what I know. What resilience he’s shown to win that frame and stop the rot.

Impossible to pick a favourite as they’ve both been brilliant. Would love Si to win the next frame so we get the decider this semi deserves.

He's done it, unbelievable! From 5-14 down to in 17-15. Ridiculous. Feel for Si, he was magnificent in his first world championship. Shame this wasn't the final.
