Redcafe Snooker

Feck it, he isn't moaning. World champion, world number one and £300k richer.

Mark Selby deserves this even if I really didn't enjoy that final. Selby's style of play did this match no favours, but neither did Ronnie's performance. His level today was nowhere near that of a world champion. He can say he gave it everything but he was just very poor today. Selby came to life in those final frames and played some great snooker, so he can say he finished it in style. And even though the quality of the final is up for discussion, the winner isn't. He was the best player by some distance in the end I felt.

Mark Selby new world number 1 as well.. if ever a stat flattered a player that is the one.

Yeah, Ronnie was pretty awful today if we're honest. Like he just didn't give a shite.

I was going to buy that psych's book, but with what he has done with Liverpool and Ronnie today hasn't been brilliant

Allen always seems like one of the friendly guys who enjoys a good laugh when he's playing.

Jog on Selby you bore. Don't recognise him as the champion.

Well those two are more than a little bitter

What's different from any reaction in here to a football fan after their team just lost?

I don't get what that has to do with anything? I'd be laughing if those posts were concerning football. Especially if they were on RAWK ;)

I'm sorry I believe Mark Selby doesn't deserve the tag world number 1. Yes he won today and over the course of the final he deserved it but I still believe there are better players out there than him.

Well done Selby, deserved win. Ronnie wasn't wrong when he said he's the toughest player on the tour.

Even though he had bad luck couple of times today, I'm still disappointed with how Ronnie played. Just nowhere near his best. But there's always next year. Despite his age, he's still the best player in the world.

So, should the tag only be for O'Sullivan until he retires? Even if he wins less, makes less money, and gets less points?

Anyway...two sweethearts...

Nope, never said that. I happen to believe right now Neil Robertson and Ding Junhui are the best players on the tour right now.

and I missed the scousers getting dicked on to watch this. Was 3-0 so I thought feck it I'll watch the snooker.. have a look at Twitter and it's 3-3 FT! Partially fuming but partially :lol::lol:

Stephen Lee's been banned for match fixing.

Ali Carter diagnosed with lung cancer, only 34 years old. Horrible news.

Yeah heard about that earlier today. He can't seem to get a break from his health problems unfortunately.

Would you pot this?

Any chance for this thread to get revived? Great win by Neil in a very exciting finale, any thoughts on him in Australia?

Shaun Murphy today made a 129 break in 4th round, missed the blue for a 147, then 122 in Quarterfinal, missed the green for a 147, then in Semifinal was losing to Trump 0-3, only to win 4-3, and now in the final, third time's the charm, a maximum in second frame.

So, so close to three maximums in a day.

One's fine too.

Did he get banned for that?

Serious? That reminds me of MVG's 17 perfect darts v Wade at the worlds- missed the double 12 for back to back 9 darters. So close to perfection. In snooker though, it is more freaky. No matter how good you are, the balls have to break right for a 147 opp.

When's the next big tournament then? Gotten into snooker lately after playing pool a lot recently

I'm thinking UK Championship in December maybe? Need to start watching more snooker again.

Yeah, UK is next, and it already started yesterday, though, not yet on BBC and Eurosport, as it's Round 1. Think they'll start from Saturday and second round.

Selby out in the second round and Betfair finally seem to have their in-play markets open for a longer period of 60 seconds. Seems set to be a good tournament.
