Redcafe Future Stars

A couple of very young lads who could make a name for themselves over the next few years Enes Unal (Bursaspor) and Fran Brodic (Dinamo Zagreb)

Jakec, how much have you seen of Sanogo? I've caught one or two games of his and he seems like he could be a real threat?

I've seen him twice for Auxerre, VS Lyon and PSG. Was man of the match against PSG in my opinion.

First watched him when Pogba was banned and he was made captain of France u17s, scored a hat trick, not sure against who.

I seen him again against England last year internationally too. Every time I see him, he scores.

I forgot he was 20 for a minute because of how big and strong he is. The chap is only a few months older then me. He's a brick shit house.

Barry McNamee will be the next young Irish lad to be bought by a big team in my opinion.

Ryan Ledson - Everton 16 year old midfielder who was on the bench for us towards the end of the season and has looked very impressive for the England u17's

Irish Legend :

Dead Certs

David De Gea, Rafael Da Silva, Thomas Müller, Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling, Jack Wilshere, Javier Hernandez, Stefan Jovetic, Manuel Neuer

Solid Players

Flops/Won't reach potential

Jordan Henderson, Tom Huddlestone, Ravel Morrison, Joshua King, Mario Balotelli, Jack Rodwell

Pretty solid predictions save a couple here and there.

He will probably get a few next season. Would have played against Hull if not on duty i'd have wagered.

One that I'm not kicking myself for not including is Mat Ryan. Ex CCM shot stopper who went to Brugge start of last season. Has earned rave reviews by all accounts

Won keeper of the year on Belgium and will be the number 1 for Australia at the World Cup. Langerak is the better keeper but just doesn't get the required game time at Dortmund.

The last two sections are off by quite a bit.

Why ? Err I don't think so about the 2nd last section :

Flops/Won't reach potential :

Jordan Henderson, Tom Huddlestone, Ravel Morrison, Joshua King, Mario Balotelli, Jack Rodwell

Bolded ones are spot on TBF :

Morrison - Has hit the buffers a bit despite being called our most talented academy product.
King - Was expected to be atleast a squad player at United but is now at Rovers, scored 4 in 50+ matches.
Balotelli - This is arguable because Mario is still young and probably the most gifted #9 of his generation but conversely he hasn't touched his lofty potential. Only shown flashes of it.
Rodwell - Bit time player at City.

All the players I've mentioned turned out to be decent

Dunno. I've only ever heard of Jack Barmby. Grato Dos Canto sounds like a made up name though...

Toni Kroos: future best midfielder on the planet.

Arturo Vidal anyone? Got a wide range of qualities, very consistent, is an important player for club and country and he's only 23 years old. Not talked about a whole amount for some reason but he looked excellent from the first time I saw him in the u20 WC and since then he's played in a variety of roles and excelled in all of them.

Juan Bernat to become another in the long line of quality left sided players produced or developed at Valencia. 18 year old left footed small winger with some fight in himand Valencia are already showing a bit more confidence in him than they had with Isco. He started wide left in Valencia's first league game of the season against Racing Santander and has always done well for the youth Spanish setup.

Some very good predictions here.

Is it time to make a new one nearly 4 years on
My picks
Hachim Mastour
Munir
Alan Halilovic
Odegaard
Tielemans
Julian Brandt

I watched Vaclav Cerny and Abdelhak Nouri both of Ajax a few times this year, both look like they'll become very good players.

Boschilla for Brazil's U17 team looks class, he made his Sao Pualo debut this year too so he's one to watch. Mosquito is a Brazilian striker who'll be called up to the senior team very soon, I reckon, partly due to his talent and partly the lack of ability in Brazil's front line.

Dom Solanke of Chelsea will be an England international regular, Fosu-Mensah will be Ballon D'or winner ( )and Patrick Roberts will be playing for a top British team as will Jack Grealish if he works hard.

Some very good predictions here.

It's not hard though? I could name dozens of players in the top 5 leagues that are aged 21 or younger who've had regular mins for their clubs.

Some of the players have been hyped to kingdom come. I mean look at the fella above mentioning Munir and Odegaard!

I'll throw some names that people may not have heard of:

Niklas Stark (Nurnberg)
Davie Selke (Werder Bremen)
Adrian Marin (Villarreal)
Abdul Baba (Augsburg)
Moi Gomez (Villarreal)
Albert Rafetraniaina (Nice)
Issac Success (Granada)
Borges Wendell (Bayer Leverkusen)
Johannes Geis (Mainz)
Luciano Vietto (Villarreal)

Vietto is getting pretty well known this season though.

I think some of the predictions in the thread is proof enough that it's not all that easy either. Loads have mentioned Wilshere in the thread. Must have been a very obvious prediction back then but hasn't exactly worked out that way. Of course mentioning Odegaard and the likes is taking the easy way out but even he might never match the expectations.

I'd consider Wilshere a star, perhaps not a World Class player but he's an International. It's back to that old "what do you classify as world class" debate again! :p

I guess he could be a success...

... I shall get my coat.

Scott Sinclair - Minkaro

What have I done? WHAT HAVE I DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE?

José Giménez will turn out to be one of the best defenders of his generation. Only 19, first saw him in last year U-20 World Cup playing with United's Guillermo Varela and another reported target, Kevin Méndez - and he was the best player for finalists Uruguay. Has racked up 14 caps for Uruguay already, has all the requisite physical tools and perhaps more importantly, has a sound understanding of the game. Atletico bought him for just €1m in 2014. Wouldn't be surprised if he surpasses Godin level and is sold for mega money somewhere down the line.

Staying with Atletico, Saúl Ñíguez has the potential to be a Xabi Alonso or Javi Martinez level midfielder in 4-5 years' time. Less heralded than his academy team-mates, Óliver Torres and Javier Manquillo - but he is getting some regular football in Atletico's first team unlike the other two, who're on loan. Very defensively aware, can play both at center back or central midfield, good passing ability and is growing in confidence with every game. He will talked about as one of the best young midfielder around pretty soon, much like club-mate Koke.

I'm going to go out on a complete limb and guess

Jack Wilshere
Isco
Mario Gotze
Raphael Varane
Phil Jones

I know, I know, absolute madness, but feck it, I'm a risk taker!

Oops. Neither of them is a definite starter on his club, and actually Wilshere and Jones haven't done nothing to justify how much they were overhyped.

A risk taker, indeed!

Huh? Gotze has started 23 games this season. Jones plays whenever he's fit. Varane and Isco are at a very strong Real side and both have impressed whenever they've played and clearly have a strong future there.

I'd say all of those - bar probably Wilshere - will still be top players in a few years. They're all only 22/23 you impatient fecker.
