RedCafe Cricket Draft

8 picks before mine. I suspect who i have in mind will get picked. It is getting tougher to predict picks now though. There's a bunch of batsmen and bowlers around the same level available...class without being greats so it starts coming down to personal preference now.

Come on though...most everybody below me has picked very recently so has to be online. Lets come back up to DE at the least. It is going to freeze there again but i'll know with a high probability if i'm getting who i want.

Yeah.. obvious picks are now more or less done.

I like MJJ's team so far. Steyn and Younis to spearhead the attack, I doubt anyone is going to get a batting to be able to come out ahead of them.

KM - Kallis, Inzy, Anderson
Omar Dalvi - Tendulkar, Kaneria, Boucher
AldoRaine18 - Steve Waugh, Flower, Jayawardene
Unitedfan101 - Ponting, H. Singh, I.Healy
Zen - Gilchrist, Vettori, Jason Gillespie
Interval Level - Akram, Mushtag, Chanderpaul
ha_rooney - Warne, de Villiers, Vaas,
nm03 - Lara, VVS Laxman, Stewart
kps88 - Murali, Flintoff, Jayasuriya
R-Indian - McGrath, Kumble, G Smith

Crappy - Dravid, Walsh, Chris Cairns
MJJ - Younis, Steyn, M. Yousuf
Mightberight - Pollock, Ambrose, A.Cook
Donadol - Sangakarra, Donald
Stretch - Amla, Lee

Come on Donadol

Bastards I had Cook & Yousuf as my next picks.

My team is fecked with no bowlers. I wanted both Cairns and Anwar as well. Cnuts!

Yeah...picking Stewart was a batsman pick too far in my opinion. There's a few decent bowlers left and you'll get one at the least but you'll have a pretty weak bowling attack overall. I can see a team like that being difficult to beat but winning games is another matter...I don't see how you'll be able to get 22 opposition wickets if your best bowler is a fourth round pick.

I've got one bowler up my sleeve that will leave you lot shocked...Come on Donadol!!!! I've got my 2 picks ready...of course, I could be screwed over by Donadol, he's got a great knowledge of cricket and could end picking one of my players. Hoping he doesn't pick my bowler...

Nah...you're fine I think. Obviously you had a disadvantage in getting the last of the first round picks (in fact you picked well into the second round didn't you?) but picking two at a time allows you to keep your team balanced with quality.

There's still 4-5 good bowlers and 10-12 good batsmen left (when I say good, I mean very good). From there on, it'll be a barrel of laughs.

Very few good bowlers left yes, but still a lot good batsmen. Some very good and some just good left. I'm thinking another top class bowler and batsman then scrap after that for what is left.

And yeah, my non access to web cost me big time with 1st round picks. Sucks but yeah.

To be fair, I see only a few good bowlers left and think a couple will fall to me as others take batsmen. A lot of the wicketkeepers from now will be just that - wicketkeepers - not batsmen. They will essentially be playing with a very weak lower order batsman.

Whats going on? Donadol's in India isn't he...its getting to be 10PM there. If he doesn't come on soon, he isn't going to come back today.

It must be about time for Stretch to make his picks. Lets get a move on. I'd love to be able to make a second pick today then I can forget about it for a couple of days.

Edit - I see he has 45 minutes or so left and hasn't been online for 7 or 8 hours now.

This will take a day. First Strech has to come, then after that Donalol again, and he won't be on today i guess.

Knew this would happen...after waiting and refreshing this page for three days.

Sorry boys was watching Batman.

Beggars at the bottom of the table cant be choosers. Especially when you have 15 odd top quality cricketers in the last 20 years.

Hey, don't blame me boys! I was waiting whole day!!! Decided to skip Wk for now. Need another star bat and bowl so my picks are:

Younis Khan and Ian Bishop

KM - Kallis, Inzy, Anderson
Omar Dalvi - Tendulkar, Kaneria, Boucher
AldoRaine18 - Steve Waugh, Flower, Jayawardene

Donadol - Sangakarra, Donald, Pietersen
Stretch - Amla, Lee, Younis Khan, Ian Bishop

Good pick on Bishop. I was waiting for someone to not take him. Not my first pick. Give me precisely five minutes to contemplate my next move.

Yeah I figured I had to pick him now because you might, your knowledge of the game seems to stretch back quite far. At least now I've got 2 key strike bowlers with genuine pace and wicket taking ability and 2 batsmen to build around. Now to wait another 3 days for next finish. United will be back in Europe by the time I get my next pick...feck

There's arguably flashier bowlers left in the draw, but I already have one of the best strike bowlers in the business. Need a competent strike partner, and one who's proved his mettle over an extended career. Also one of my favourites, and severely underrated. After much thought, I'll go with

Craig McDermott

Stop picking goddamn bowlers. You lot need batsmen!

30 picks later, I'm going to be happy with Gavin Robertson. or Sherwin Campbell.

feck...I had Ian Bishop in my mind for my next bowler pick. I thought he'd go all the way up and down again since people would've forgotten about him. Just 161 wickets but he got them at 24 and an excellent strike rate. If not for his back problems, he'd have gone on to be a great.

I picked him in the newbie draft, but that's the problem - people are going to vote not knowing who he is.

Deserves more. At the time it felt like the great West Indian pace bowling baton would pass smoothly from Walsh and Ambrose to him. Unfortunately it didn't work out and the three of them finishing within a couple of years of each other put an end to one of the greatest assembly lines of talent in cricket history.
