Gaming Red Dead Redemption 2 (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia)

Rescued this woman trapped under a horse and offered here a ride back to her house and then accidentally pulled a gun on her and she ran off. :(

What is this game essentially? Everyone is bloody talking about it and i'm still playing spider man.

Just picked up a One X with red dead and Forza...this is gonna look amazing in 4K.

Ever seen West World?
Or more fittingly, ever seen the Eastwood westerns + the tarantino westerns + stuff like the original Django? It’s basically a Spaghetti Western open world game. It’s incredibly beautiful and immersive!

I was busy stealing carts to sell when I found her. Took her all the way back to Valentine and all I got was a silver ring. Should've shotgunned her head off.

Am i the only one finding the graphics very blurry ? Playing on ps4 pro.

Yea... I'm used to pin sharp graphics with Uncharted and Horizon. Very underwhelming imo apart from lighting.

I fecking love this game.

I get the complaints about clunky controls, definitely could be smoother. Doesn't bother me too much, though, and I imagine we'll see some improvements after some patching.

The complaints about pace I do not get. This game is meant to be ridiculously immersive, and I love the fact that you seem to get into trouble if you run around, bump into people, etc. It makes sense for it to be so slow in the beginning in the snow, as anybody who's maneuvered in deep snow can testify to. The speed of movement, the need to spend time bonding with the horse and maintaining your equipment, as well as the penalties tied to clothing, fatigue, nutrition, etc. help make things that much more immersive, and makes you feel like you are in a world rather than in some sped-up fake representation.

Games like these always make me want to take my time anyway. I love riding around, observing my surroundings, taking things at a natural pace. I get that for some people that's not what they want, but there's no way of pleasing both those who want to get lost and immersed and those who want a quick video game romp.

I looove the social mechanics of the game, too. Like that lippy guy mouthing off about the O'Driscolls in Valentine, I was ready to just move on past him, but he kept pushing my buttons and I squared up to him, and then all of a sudden I'd bloodied my hands and incurred a bounty, all because the game managed to poke at my sense of pride. The way that situation unfolded and escalated was really life-like, and I find myself not knowing whether I'm about to get into hot water or not when I interact with people beyond pleasantries at a distance.

Yes, I agree. The first chapter is meant to get across how hard and desolate it was in the mountains. And the rest is to give a sense of weight to your actions I think. Like, you're living a hard life and everything you do matters. You're not just sprinting around like a mad man in a game.
There should be a power walk outside of camp though.

They fecked the controls to be honest, which I find crazy (it can't be that difficult to get right in 8 years!), but it's not stopping me enjoying the game.

And the wanted system needs some work. As does the honour system making being a bad guy pointless.

I’ve read that this is just to get 100% completion and there are in fact a lot more.

I hope that's true. Where did you read it?

Apart from the lighting effects and draw distance etc - the game is absolutely bang average in terms of graphics. There's no point in sugar coating it - it's meh. I mean, I probably expected something unbelievable but then I didn't... If that makes sense. If it was on par with Horizon I'd have been absolutely thrilled but it's nowhere near.

Game has noticeable pixels and aliasing on PS4 Pro and 4K set up. I've seen plenty of more beautiful games than this.

Keep thinking its my tv and have tried all sorts of settings and tried 1080p on the ps4 but no luck. It's so blurry!

Yeah I was travelling in the opposite direction she wanted to go but took her back thinking it would give me a decent reward or a new mission, haven't checked how much the ring is worth like.

Got on a train to do a mission and thought i’d stay on it to see how far it goes.

I know.. I find it quite difficult to get used to. I wonder if all consoles are like that or just the ps4 pro.

And yeah keep thinking it's my tv too. My Sony Bravia is mid range so it should be absolutely fine for this.

Turning off HDR helps with blurryness on the pro apparently. So give that a try as a lot of people are reporting it so must be due a patch for the pro.

Game looks miles better on the X.

@shaggy apparently Rockstar are aware of the poor upscaling according to Reddit. Who knows if the patch will fix it. Bloody hope it does.

Same. But dont think it is. Gow3, Assassins Creed, Horizon all look fantastic on my tv so I think it's the game :(

Will try now. Cheers mate. I looked up on Reddit and there's a thread on it - Rockstar are "aware" of the the issue, so hopefully it gets sorted.

My only complaint so far is the controls. Not only are they clunky, there’s so many of them that you get flustered when the game springs a surprise on you like a posse of bounty hunters from nowhere, you’re trying to figure out what guns are on your person (hold one button down to access your items, hit another to switch to weapons, move the analogue stick to the ranged weapon section, press another button to select your option of ranged weapon then release the first button you pressed to select it... then rub your belly and touch your toes) and if the aiming system decides to work properly on that occasion.

Also the cover mechanic is kinda scratchy. You press R1 for the cover and Arthur decides to vault it and get shot by whatever nasty men you’re facing off against, even though the game told you the jump/vault button was Square?

I think if I learn the controls inside and out, I’ll have a better experience but my god there’s lots to remember on top of the clunkiness where every action is delayed by 2 seconds.

Hope so mate. Its really jarring, might just stick with assassins creed for a while until it gets patched. Its honestly like playing a ps3 game.

Yep. That's the thing, even though GOW wasn't my thing, I had to look twice at trees etc to make sure it wasn't a photo realistic. It was a joy to look at. This makes my eyes hurt at the minute.

Yeah the worst part about it is.. the attention to detail is so diligent. Everything is done right but whatever they did with checherboarding on the Pro it hasn't worked imo.

Horse death is fecking permanent? I was fecking around trying to put a hogtied O'Driscoll on the rail track and his head clipped the train :( Instadeath for my Lvl 4 Thoroughbred

Can we use spoilers from now on, please? For missions, side quests etc?

Sounds like your pc at fault no distortion my end.

I'm listening on studio monitors. They're always the same. There is distortion when he shouts. It's obvious on the Macbook speakers as well. I'm guessing it's because the cheap mic is eqed for voice so it just fecks it when shouting.

It's not you is it?

Nope, it's fine my end. Fine on my laptop and iphone too. /shrugs

Didn't you ask for quests to be spoilered? Are you asking all content to be spoilered? Why are you even in this thread :p

 I kind of see your point. I'm in this thread to see the general reaction to this game but without giving away too much. I've seen a few posts about progress which I wish I didn't read though. So I think some sort of a system wouldn't hurt for a few weeks until everyone is up to date imo.

I’m in the minority but To say I’m disappointed with RDR2 is an understatement, I was expecting it to be one of the best games this year but tbh it’s not even in the same league as Spider Man.

I loaned it off my friend for the weekend and so far I'm about 2 and abit hours in and I simply find it boring. It dawned on me I’m not actually enjoying it and it feels more like a chore to play. I can’t see me going further with it.

I loved the first RDR but this Just isn’t for me.

Cowboy GTA at a slower pace and with some rpg type elements.
That actually sounds pretty good. I might watch a walkthrough video on YouTube.

Pig farm random encounter

Holy shit!
Knew it was dodgy from the start but drank away anyway. Waking up in that corpse pit! Wish I'd hogtied the guy and toyed with the fecker when I went back

How the feck does someone investigate a murder after you're long gone and figure out it's you?
