Real Madrid vs Manchester United

You can see the gap in skill on the ball which gives the home side far too much time to do damage. It's obviously a great HT scoreline for United but they will have to create more or penetrate deeper if they stand a chance in this tie. RM are going to score, its only a matter of when & how many

Can't fault RVP or Kagawa, they're rarely seeing the ball

The best thing about our performance this half has been our goal. We will be lucky to get away with playing like this for another 45 minutes. We're penned back and Madrid are running in front of our defence constantly, a defence that without Vidic looks much less strong than it did at the weekend. We've given Madrid very little to think about its amazing we almost nicked another goal.

This is a bit like watching our games v Barcelona, but Madrid aren't as polished in their moving of the ball.

Similar horrible adrenaline pumping action though. And not in a good way.

Giggs on for Kagawa would help I think. Giggs is on form and when Kagawa has had it he has had some space ahead of him.

I don't get this, it's a free header with the nearest defender being a 5'8 full back. That's a poor, poor goal to lose. Just hamming it up because they wanted it to be the Ronaldo show.

Kagawa isn't offering anything, Madrid are comfortably winning the midfield battle with Ronaldo and Di maria looking threatening every time. Getting away with 1-1 would be splendid

The flogging of Rafael here is way over the top. The entire back line has been under tremendous pressure. Anything that is said about Rafael could also be said about Rio, Evans and Evra.

We miss Vidic badly. An explanation for his absence, whatever it is, is greatly desired.

Madrid can't keep the insane pace up for the whole 90. Our midfield hasn't had any control in the first 45.

Kagawa has been very good on the ball. Don't know what people are seeing.

Yeah, when he's been involved and not been bullied by La liga players.

I don't like how kagawa plays in the hole, he's way too close to rvp - almost a 2nd striker. i was expecting him to come to the ball and dictate the tempo.

He doesn't track back Alonso either.

I've said a lot of times I expect a much different 1st half, however that only comes true when we're the ones dominating like Madrid in the 1st, not the other way around.

Why can't they just play better? They're more than good enough to play better, seems to me like they seem terrified of Real. Hopefuly Fergie makes them be more terrified of facing him after the game (if they lose) than it is to face Real on the pitch.

Madrid are always looking to spring from the half way line, think United have done well to limit those to half chances

None of the others are on a yellow card though and being run at constantly. Rafael needs to come off he's a red card waiting to happen.

I don't think these kind of games suit Giggs to be honest. When we're struggling for possession, he tends to try too many fancy flicks and Hollywood balls, which isn't what we need. Of course he's capable of sublime magic every now and then (alá West Ham in the Cup), but I feel he'd be well overrun if he was introduced tonight.

We really need another body in there to help out Carrick and Jones who are doing nothing of note.

Move jones to right back, take rafeal off and stick cleverley on and for christ's sake let's keep hold of the ball instead of hoofing it right back to them.

We haven't even tried to play through midfield its been long balls forward at virtually every opportunity.

Kagawa has been very good on the ball. Don't know what people are seeing.

People need a scapegoat... It's as simple as that! Since Welbeck has scored, and Rooney and RVP are untouchable, Kagawa is the one that will take the blame, despite being our best player on the ball this half, alongside RVP.
