Probably as we’re not in for him and his attitude has been questioned numerous times. I’d say United fans would be very wary about signing such players, especially when the manager demands commitment and hard work.

Yeah fair, we've been burnt many times having highly talented but troublesome players.

There were also reports that when City sold him to Real they stuck in a 40% sell-on clause if he went directly to United, which if true almost certainly rules this out from ever happening.
