RAWK Goes Into Meltdown | 2013/14

--------------------

"Basic logic tells you he'll be better than Moyes for them

He's got some job on his hands to instantly resurrect them to title contenders or leapfrog us as easily as a lot of United fans think he will though
."

-------------------

I'll actually give them that one. We shouldn't just expect to get back in. A lot of damage was done last year.

My boss is a casual Liverpool fan, he's a kiwi so isn't actually that clued in football wise but still thinks he knows his onions. I bet him £500 a few weeks back that United will finish above Liverpool next season and he almost tore my hand off.

He thinks Rodgers is a genius and that they'll be even better in attack next season because of Lallana, personally I think his lack of pace is going to cause disjointed counter attacks and is defiant that they're going to replace Suarez with someone of equal quality.

I'm kinda gutted I won't be working with him all next season because their inevitable demise is going to be sweeter than ever.
I somehow doubt they'd be able to afford the likes of Falcao, Zlatan & co.

Saw this on RAWK:

"But a better manager would have found a way to beat Costa Rica over 120 minutes..."

Yep - conveniently forget how his side dismantled Spain...

All those managers who managed Italy, Uruguay, Greece & England (he does have a point with this one) are so useless...

They're as terrified deep down as I am certain that United will be at least 15 points ahead of them come May 2015. They had their chance this year and they fecked it up.

If they kept Suarez this summer, signed a couple of top quality defenders and a top quality midfielder then I'd be worried but they're losing a huge portion of their game with Suarez and so far their signings have been very underwhelming.

Their signings so far have shown that even with Champions League football they don't have the gravitas nor the money to attract the sort of quality they need to stay in the Top 4 let alone make another challenger.

One freak season where the stars aligned for 34 matches before a supermassive black hole opened up and the universe corrected itself.

It's all because we got Moyesed, once the greatest injustice in footballing history is corrected, everything fell back into place.

Torres has won a Champions League and FA Cup since leaving Liverpool. If you're referring to his personal fortunes, it was Liverpool who crocked him anyway when Rafa kept forcing him back early from injury in 09/10, so that would have happened even if he had stayed.

They did the same with Owen. They treat strikers like some sort of workhorses during the Victorian times.

This is what they are posting in the Lallana thread . I think they mean Newcastle.

Van Gaal will fix our home form and improve our points total vs the top teams. That's what held us back in terms of the league standings last year.
Opposition fans are rightfully worried.

Whilst I think there's some over the top optimism, I'm not sure what is funny.

Despite the Moyes effect and our players collectively having their worst seasons ever, we had one of the best away records in the league, our home form and form in general against the top 6 teams was abysmal and what did for us. The home form I suspect has a lot to do with pressure, and against the better teams it had a lot to do with tactics and selection.
The new manager has shown to be adept at getting players to perform under pressure and adapt his tactics to match the best teams out there, the Spain game especially was built on how he set them up.
Whilst I don't think that means we are going to romp back into the top two or anything, I do think that there is a very good chance he will address the failings of last year.
My biggest concern is actually too many new faces and how long the team will need to gel properly.

Looks like PhaseOfPlay is a fan.

That guy is such an expert on football. Says van Gaal clearly put Krul on because he memorised where the CR players aim their penalties and went on a big rant about that "fact". And then this morning van Gaal says he actually did it because Krul is taller and has a longer reach

Well, to be fair, he did get the Moyes effect spot on this time last year.

Just love Rawk and the whole Politbureau atmosphere thing the place is comedy gold full of paranoia, delusion and loads of other mental conditions. One poor lad tried to make a point about free speech when they were locking Suarez threads and got told to feck off by the mods - my sides were aching.
If they were sponsored by a country it would be North Korea. 3rd highest spenders in Prem history as well, oh dear.

I think Van Gaal should appoint PhaseOfPlay as first team coach at United and then let him continue to post on RAWK.

This is far too simplistic. Things are going to change, football styles are going to change, and it might not be as easy as just winning more games at home.

Agree, I still think it will take time, I don't expect us to light up the league right away. Our squad still needs major tweaking imo. Players like Clev, Fellaini, young, Zaha all need to be shifted and new players brought in.
One of my major worries for the beginning of the season is hope fit is RvP going to be? I hope LVG gives him the summer off and not include him in the summer tour of the USA.

Lots of chat about how Liverpool and United will do next season. Surely this isn't the thread for that? We've got a Suarez thread and Liverpool thread.

Not enough RAWK madness in here for my liking! :)

Wait until the season starts. This is the calm before the storm.

Some brilliant stuff on the Rawk Meltdown twitter page.Having a mini meltdown over Van Gaal.By the way, isn't it time to open the 14/15 thread?

It is time. Maybe we can limit it to just RAWK posts instead of all the discussion.
He says after writing a post that is not from RAWK

Just spotted this little gem. It's about a week old but don't think it has been posted yet:
Man, I nearly got lynched yesterday just for being upset by winning cheating again !
I said that I thought it was worse to send a country home by diving then it is to bite another man.
The orange crowd, most of them wearing shirts you get for free if you buy some crappy product, didn't like it.
Me, wearing a Liverpool shirt that I payed money for, was not a good patriot.
To say that Robben is a cheating diving bastard, is like treason now a days.
To say that van Gaal is such a moron that I actually believe he is fit to fill Fergussons shoes at Man Utd, didn't make it any better.
So, I was home at about 11.
God, how I love the beautiful game ...

Surely wait until the World Cup is over then start it once it's on to "next season" properly?

Why are you laughing? I think they're absolutely right. In my view, you'll do very well to get top 4 next season.

Anyone will. It was the way the posts were worded and the fact that they were posted in this thread that I found amusing.

Still not sure how you can laugh when you're about to lose the best striker in the world and we had just replaced our underqualified manager, and made two big signings with a couple more to come.

If Pexbo made the 15 pts comment before last season even ended, then yeah, I can see how it would pertain to the theme of this thread.

They really are the gift that keeps giving. I don't know any other fanbase like them.
