RAWK Goes Into Meltdown | 2013/14

Their talking about Gerrard's loyalty over there at the moment and how Suarez doesn't compare to him. Oh lord.

Can you remember Andy@Allerton? I was a member at RAWK a few years back and he was a regular but I think he's banned now.

Anyway, anyone seen the RAWK singing competitions on YouTube?

So bad.

Andy was a member here in the early 2000s. We got rid of him eventually. Probably the most deluded scouser in internet history.

I didn't know he joined this place. He really did have a deep hatred for Sir Alex and anything Man Utd related. It was kind of an obsession to him.

He was a strange lad. Some thought he was on a WUM but he wasn't - he was actually like that in 'real life' according to another member on RAWK who knew him personally.

How did Luis 'carry' our side?
huh.gif

We were actually good without him when he was banned. Where is all this one man team, and carrying the side coming from?

Really? Someone enlightens me he's just being delusional and in denial.

We have been good without him. I believe our record without him as 8 wins 2 draws and a loss. The loss came against Southampton when we played with four centre backs and Iago Aspas.

so you've got nothing to worry about then, and it's challenging for the title next year then :wenger:

Come on man. You guys won games but the fast counterattacking style was down to him being central to everything.

I see. So, why have your club been holding onto him so dearly all along? You must thank Barca for coming to the rescue then with big ££££

Well they have been saying this for years and years since they were knocked off the perch by Sir Alex. It takes time (decades) for them though and they are some patient bunch! lol

Liverpool's record without Suarez is actually very impressive, overall play wasn't great but it's results that count in the end. Sturridge started performing at the perfect time to negate the effect of Suarez's ban. So @BarneyLFC is right in saying they did perform without him.

But what I doubt is Sturridge's ability to do that for a full season. Going on what I saw from Liverpool in the first few games without Suarez, they were struggling to break down teams and were struggling to find the net. The team was built around Suarez when he came back and he was instrumental in their great run and free flowing play. They won't be the same team without him.

But I'm gone very off topic here, this a thread to laugh at RAWK posts not discuss Liverpool. So here's another gem.

While the relegation teams aren't as good as the teams in the CL, even the 15th best team in the EPL can find a comparable opponent in the group stage. The top 10 teams in the EPL are comfortably CL standard. I mean, Swansea was battering a team like Napoli.

Stoke City - Champions League standard

But you are not a better team without him.

Of course.

We're better with him, but hardly disastrous without him.

Sturridge has performed for most of the season and performed without him the season before. I think the 3 1-0 results were down to our tactics. We saw at the end of the 2013 season we could be very clinical without him.

Sturridge did it for near enough a full season last year. The main concern is his fitness. If he managed an injury free season he'd score 30 goals. We probably won't be as attacking, but Rodgers will probably be able to play in his favoured formation which will mean we're more balanced as a result.

Our top ten probably are all CL standard. I'd back any of the top ten against some of the minnows in the group stage.

The matchday thread for today's games is locked after Netherlands win!!

I can't believe those morons.

They're bitter cnuts. I don't think that I could hate any other club or set of fans as much as I do Liverpool.

"Every single United fan has just emptied their balls after what they have just witnessed"

-------------------

"Football Genius that Van Gaal. Got a 0-0 draw with Costa Rica, just like Hodgson did."

--------------------

"Basic logic tells you he'll be better than Moyes for them

He's got some job on his hands to instantly resurrect them to title contenders or leapfrog us as easily as a lot of United fans think he will though
."

-------------------

If they weren't worried before, now they definitely are.

I mean just think of it. If it was declared before world cup that Scolari will be Liverpool manager, I don't think we would have started hating Brazil for that or being bitter towards Brazil. They lock thread because some posters call LvG a genius!

So bad.

Ironically that song was written by a band that has two die hard Man United fans

City fans are all wound up aswell

Season not even started

They're the champions of England ffs and we finished 7th last season, yet they're still fecking bitter.

Goes to show how small time they'll always be.

Normal service will be resumed this season, I can't wait for the first game with them.

My boss is a casual Liverpool fan, he's a kiwi so isn't actually that clued in football wise but still thinks he knows his onions. I bet him £500 a few weeks back that United will finish above Liverpool next season and he almost tore my hand off.

He thinks Rodgers is a genius and that they'll be even better in attack next season because of Lallana, personally I think his lack of pace is going to cause disjointed counter attacks and is defiant that they're going to replace Suarez with someone of equal quality.

I'm kinda gutted I won't be working with him all next season because their inevitable demise is going to be sweeter than ever.

Saw this on RAWK:

"But a better manager would have found a way to beat Costa Rica over 120 minutes..."

Yep - conveniently forget how his side dismantled Spain...

It really is funny how deep down, you can see just how worried they are.

They should believe in themselves but we are still at the front of their minds.

Some of the posters are so institutionalised over on RAWK, like this poor sod...

Thank you mods for keeping this open. It's the only place I can discussing more without people rolling their eyes at me.

That being said, when Suarez goes, I can't help but think that we must sign a serious striker to best try and replace him. Who on earth would/could that be? What are the realistic options?

Thank you for keeping open a chat on a forum? Surely these guys understand the purpose of a forum is for people to share their views. Thanking a normal mod for keeping a chat open is like thanking the sun for rising and setting. It must be nice to be that easily pleased.... Oh RAWK, it's the gift that keeps on giving!!

A better manager would see out a 3-0 lead against Palace when the title is on the line.

Nope. They won because Krul clearly has a good memory for each penalty taker. I can imagine that the Costa Rica team were analysed, the information given to the keepers, and Krul came out top for remembering where each Costa Rica player placed their kicks. There was a moment in the middle of the shoot-out where he went to a Costa Rica player and said "I know" and kept pointing to his eyes and the ground. That wasn't luck. That was preparation. Holland prepared for the shoot-out, right down to knowing they needed to get Krul on the field as he had the better memory and could guess right. Costa Rica didn't take great penalties, for sure, but Krul guessed right because he prepared right. Most managers would have left the original keeper in and hoped for the best. Not Van Gaal. Nothing happens on a field tactically for a Van Gaal team that hasn't been rehearsed, drilled and worked on over and over and over. That's what he gets paid for, and that's why he wins trophies.

Looks like PhaseOfPlay is a fan.

They should believe in themselves but we are still at the front of their minds.

They're as terrified deep down as I am certain that United will be at least 15 points ahead of them come May 2015. They had their chance this year and they fecked it up.

If they kept Suarez this summer, signed a couple of top quality defenders and a top quality midfielder then I'd be worried but they're losing a huge portion of their game with Suarez and so far their signings have been very underwhelming.

Their signings so far have shown that even with Champions League football they don't have the gravitas nor the money to attract the sort of quality they need to stay in the Top 4 let alone make another challenger.

One freak season where the stars aligned for 34 matches before a supermassive black hole opened up and the universe corrected itself.

Of course.

Scoring a few goals towards the end of the season against a horrible Newcastle and Fulham without Suarez isn't much of a basis to show he can perform without Suarez. For the most of that season he played with Suarez, until the ban where he missed 2-3 games. 30 goals a season for Sturridge is very generous, he's a good player, but even with his great partnership with Suarez and Liverpool playing their best football in years he couldn't manage that.

He will have a lot more pressure on his shoulders next season, he may be the main striker but I still can't see him getting 30 goals, even if he stays fit. If you get 20+ goals out of him next season you'll be doing well.

It's the term "comfortably champions league standard" that I found absurd. For me comfortably Champions League standard would be challenging to at least progress from the group and we've seen many big teams struggle badly in the group stage. Monaco, Anderlecht and Roma are currently the fourth seeds, and I would not fancy Stoke against any of them.
