RAWK Goes Into Meltdown | 2013/14

The end of the season must have been especially devastating for Tomkins.

He probably had £ signs flashing in his eyes thinking about how he could profiteer from a Liverpool league win.

His book sales will be 10% of what they'd be if they'd won the league.

Judging by the book's cover, last season's run-in was so painful that their eyes fell out.
Has someone actually written a book detailing Liverpool's second place finish?

Why am I even asking? I'm not surprised in the slightest.

btw an Bayern insider said a few days ago: Bernat and Cuadrado are done deals and Pep Guardiola's #1 target is Coutinho. Bayern offered 32mil€ but LFC rejected that offer.

Bernat is now official. I think Cuadrado will be fix soon as well.

What do you guys think would Coutinho cost? Would he be a worthy replacement for Toni Kroos? Is he (very) good? Would LFC sell anyways?

I think there's no chance we sell him this season with Suarez going as well.

:lol: Love it, a book about coming second. Those reviews are hilarious too.
Brendan's remarkable young team, with an average age of just 25 years old, fought long and hard. Brendan proved he had an eye for a bargain during his first two years. Unlike bigger clubs, Liverpool just cannot compete financially, and the Irishman was faced with the unenviable task of spending just £100,000,000 on players.

Surely won't be long before we see the Rawk Book of Poetry hit the shops.

They dared to dream? My god they are so embarrassing it's make you cringe. I'm so sick of this underdog rubbish. Everybody is against poor Liverpool. Seriously it's like they made it up from the Conference to become 2nd in England's top division in a few years. They spent no money and against all odds they overcame bluh.. Why do they degrade themselves when they have a good history, trophy wise. It's small time mentality, just like there premature celebrations in the last few games of the season at Anfield. Not even the most arrogant United fan would belittle themselves with songs like "and now you're going to believe us, we're going to win the league" There are good fans out there. Fans I know would ignore nonsense like this and condemn the actions of Suarez. Unfortunately there are to many with the head in the sand. Suarez is a victim, Ferguson bribed the FA to get success, Liverpool are the best team in England and have no equal worldwide, all United fans are glory hunters and plastic. The delusion and bitterness is strong. At least a United fan could admit they played some good stuff last year, bit more luck and you could have won it. When we win the league it's a bad league, enough said :wenger:

It does say a lot when fans of a club like Liverpool are celebrating coming second in the league enough to write or read a book about it. It is only a small minority of their fans, it must be pointed out, but these are fans of a club that once dominated the English game and were kings of Europe five times. There were times, only a generation ago, when finishing second was considered a failure at Anfield. Now their writing books about it. It's tragic really.

The city fans are no better. They can't speak about united fans without descending into swearwords or rag-calling. Both sets of fans are so small time, it's incredible.

To be fair, every City fan I've met in real life have been absolutely stand up blokes. Ended up drinking in a "City pub" after the Newcastle game in a United shirt, had a great time.

By contrast, every Liverpool fan I know is a bafflingly cocky git, before they were good again.

The pitch invasion last year when they won the league was small time. That's what teams do when they get promoted or avoid relegation.

City fans don't have much to go off, as far as they're concerned they were formed in 2011.

Yes, after the many trophies he won while at Liverpool.

Hey, he won the Carling Cup now, didn't he? Never mind that it was against Championship opposition or the fact that they only won the cup on penalties! Barcelona, eat your heart out! You can only go down from the heights of lifting the Carling Cup trophy!

Really a thread about RAWK melting down went silent when RAWK was not melting down........
Good point, although the other Liverpool threads only seemed to appear for a sustained period on the rare occasions Liverpool lost.

I have to disagree. There was a Liverpool/Liverpool related thread on the homepage throughout most of last season. Along with the thread about Arsenal's title credentials these were the 2 most popular opposition topics. The meltdown thread is the one that went missing for long periods. It was resurrected by the slip and Crystanbul.

 Everything associated with Liverpool is just pathetic.

Now be fair, the Beatles were pretty successful. And quite intelligent, which is why as soon as they'd earned some money they fecked off out of Liverpool for good.

"This is the story of the season when United, Chelsea and City didn't seem interested in winning the title, leaving the field clear for Brendan Rodgers' remarkable Liverpool side to mount a title challenge, their first since before David De Gea was born (he's since grown up and won the title himself)."

Bravo to whoever is responsible.

"I bought this and invited round the auld fella, his auld fella and a few of my bezzie mates. We've all got seasies and we never miss a match, home or away. I read this book aloud for them and within 10 minutes they were all wellin' up, I had to compose myself on numerous occasions as I was also on the verge of wellin' up. We ran the full gamut of emotions, from tears of joy after beating City, seething at Mourinho's antics at Anfield to tears of rage at Palace. When I had finished the book there was total silence for ten mins, grown men with tears running down their cheeks, the only sound was tears dripping into pint pots of Carling. Finally the silence was broken by my auld fella addressing his auld fella, 'Brendan made us dream didn't he dad?' his auld fella, face reddened by tears, replied 'he did son, he did... but then they broke our hearts'. That was it, within seconds every one of us had welled up again, tears poured down our faces and we couldn't stop. There we were wiping away each others tears with no embarrassment, we knew what this meant. These were not tears of rage nor tears of joy, no, these were tears for our club, our family. No football club does emotion like Liverpool Football Club, no writer gets into the emotion of our club quite like Paul Tomkins."

Managerial genius that he is (as seen on Being Colon Liverpool, also available on Amazon), he spent it shrewdly. Joe "the Welsh Xavi" Allen, the 7 foot 6 inches collosus, was brought in for just £15,000,000, though Rodgers admitted that he would have paid "many millions more". Fabio Borini, the former Chelsea legend, cost a mere £10,000,000, although he was loaned to relegation candidates Sunderland at the beginning of the season. And who could forget defensive lynchpin Mamadou Sakho, just 15,000,000 of your English pounds. Brodge, as he is affectionately known at Anfield, also managed to pull off a huge coup, signing two time Premier League winner Kolo Toure on a free transfer, and convincing him to give of his best for just £100,000 every 7 (SEVEN) days.

Having convinced some of Europe's brightest young talents to join his Anfield revolution, Brodge was off to a flier, despite talisman and moral compass Luis Suarez missing the first part of the season through suspension. This would be the fourth consecutive season where Suarez had served such a ban, but Brodge's spirit would not be dampened. With Studge in the form of his young life, Liverpool shot to the top of the table following a difficult start with Stoke Citry, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Southampton, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion as 8 of their first 9 games.

The difficult times were to come. Shocking decisions went against Liverpool over Christmas, particularly in games against Manchester City and Chelsea, and whilst Liverpool also benefited from bad decisions, everybody knows that you ignore these when bemoaning your bad luck. Brodge is made of stern stuff though. Liverpool bounced back, thrashing Arsenal 5-1 in February. It was Arsenal's worst defeat since Manchester City put 6 past them in, erm, December the previous year. But whatever.

Liverpool topped the table, going into the big one. Chelsea came to town, and it all went to pot.

The night before the game, Sir Alex Ferguson and Jim Smith concocted a wicked spell, hypnotising Liverpool fans into causing a ruckus outside the Chelsea team hotel to disturb the Chelsea players. The following morning, Alan Davies forced Liverpool supporters to serenade their team coach with chants of "We're gonna win the league" as it approached Anfield. These two heinous acts would tempt the fates, and it wasn't in Liverpool Football Club's favour.

In front of a quiet Anfield crowd, Steven "We go again" Gerrard slipped on his ****, and gave it to Demba Ba, and Liverpool's title challenge was going up in smoke. Some blamed Jose Mourinho for his spoiling tactics. In a match where Liverpool only needed a draw, against one of the most tactically astute managers of modern times, Brodge decided to play 3 up front. Not sure why. Only joking. Because he's a managerial genius, THAT'S WHY. Chelsea picked them off at will, winning 2-0 at Anfield. Shameful behaviour from Jose Mourinho, to be sure.

The following Monday, Liverpool needed to win to give themselves half a chance. 3-0 up at Palace with 15 minutes to go, victory looked assured. But....wait.....what comes next is a spoiler.

If you want to know, you'll have to read the book.

A wonderful rip roaring yarn of how Liverpool FC were denied their first title since 1989 by a combination of refereeing incompetence, corruption, and most painfully of all, a slip by our captain Steven at the home of football.

I'm not ashamed that this book brought back the tears, again. It's one for all our fans but neutrals will also be desperate to relive how the whole country united in the quest of reclaiming the title for everyone's second favourite team. Sometimes it's about winning hearts not points, and I think we did that in 2014.

I'm sorry but I hope he fails at Barca.

It's like going out with a boss bird for a few years, having some of your best times ever, but knowing that she's never been into you as much as you've been into her. And you've even put up with her indiscressions.

I suppose the mature thing to do would be to realise that she never loved you like you loved her, accept that her new fella comes with a rippling six pack, and move on. And wish them both well.

While realistically hoping they get hit by a bus. Metaphorically speaking of course.

....

Buy it to remind yourself what a laughing stock Liverpool Football Club YAWN have become. Can anyone imagine Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus etc finishing second in the league and winning nothing and one of their fans deciding it needed to be commemorated in print?

I suppose it's worth reading if you want some comdy.

Some of this is just embarrassing. Is everyone from Liverpool like this?
You only have to listen to their pundits Phil Thompson, Micky Quinn etc to know what they're like. They're a different breed to normal people.
