RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2012/2013)

It's a big step down from Arsenal to Liverpool at the moment. He'll be guaranteed to play every week at Liverpool though and although I hate Walcott he will improve the Scouse significantly.

how will he be guaranteed to play every week at Liverpool as a striker, which is what he wants?

He's not the proven goalscorer they need, but he could be lethal.

Has he been lethal playing in a much better team? He is inconsistent. Liverpool have probably the worst history ever, in terms of wingers. They all turn to shit. I hope they spend all their money on wingers.

I reckon he'll be played inside a bit more.

Who will they play in front of him up front? They don't have any strikers. I can see him being their Jermaine Defoe. Still shit, but lethal in front of goal and with Suarez dropping to his more natural No10 position and threading balls through it really should work.

As Jake said he's not going to play as a winger. I can see them using his as an out and out front man.

Rodgers play a 433. He doesnt play two strikers so will that mean moving Suarez to the wing?

This topic always reminds me of this post.

The question is whether they can get a top-class manager in

They've been able to in the past - whatever you think of Rafa he had an excellent record in the game when they got him.

But something is rotten at that club and has been for ages... I don't know what it is, but it just has something deadly about it, it's the kiss of death for people's careers. It's a question of whether this is widely felt in the game, that going to Pool is a bad idea, or whether the prestige, history and huge fan base is still a big draw.

Plus there's no CL football on offer (there will probably still be European football next season though, I reckon), so bringing in top-drawer players will be harder, and there are now not one but two infinitely rich clubs to deal with as well as us and Arsenal, plus a resurgent Spurs who have a squad far better than Liverpool's.

They need a manager with not just talent and ideas but the courage to take on the challenge of bringing a great club back to life in very difficult circumstances.

Whoever he is, he's a cnut...

What is true for managers is true for players. Nobody goes to Liverpool and gets better. People go to Liverpool to turn shit. I cant imagine there will be anything lethal about Liverpool with Walcott in the team, despite the fact I rate the player higher than a lot of people on here.

The 433 doesn't mean that Suarez would have to play on the wing. He'd have to provide width, but he does a lot of running anyway.

Look at the width that RvP gives us when we play a 433. How many have we scored from one of his crosses already? I could see a front three of;

Suarez Walcott Sterling

That would be a pretty good line up TBH.

That's utter bullshit IMO. Suarez has been fantastic this season, better than he's ever been in his career, Joe Allen looks to be improving & Johnson is going well. That's 3 out of the current crop in a team that's doing shit. The big problem with Liverpool in the last 10+ years has been the shit signings, not good players going shit but shit players getting exposed as shit at a bigger stage.

What's new.

Oh, and congrats on Osman getting the call up. At 31 twas well deserved. Always an underrated player.

More to the point, Irwinwastheking seems to have a vastly inflated view of Walcott's ability as a prolific goalscorer... Theo has been hiding that well all these years.

fecking hell, who cares if he signs for them, it's hardly a Cantona moment is it.

So, a team struggling to score goals will start someone, who has not played as a striker in top flight football, ahead of the guy who is their top scorer?

I don't see Liverpool going for him and granting his wish to start games as a striker. I still see him playing as a wide forward or an inside forward in their 4-3-3.

First time on the caf someone typed my full username :D

He's not played up front before, and not in front of a player such as Suarez. I'm not worried if he signs for them, but I do think he would improve them as a team and score a lot of goals. That's all.

And he's not a bad scorer when given the chance TBF.

What???

I'm saying Suarez will play in his best position which is where they would be playing them if they had a striker.

Is his uncomfortableness back to goal going to be much kop in Rodgers' system?

I'm thinking the bit of pace up top would work wonders for that system. Give it what it's missing a bit of cutting edge. I can't see a Walcott playing much of the passing game with his back to goal, but rather be a foil for it and keep the defenders honest by making little runs of the shoulders of the defenders.

Could be pure speculation of course. Wonder what RAWK thinks of it all?

If he signs he is the best striker in England, possibly the World. If he doesn't he is shit and they never needed him anyway

Walcott is a good finisher, there's no doubt about that. His goalscoring record from the wing is good although not spectacular.

I would imagine Rodgers would play him on the left rather than the right, giving him licence to cut inside onto his stronger foot. Potentially this could lead to him scoring more regularly - and then you also have the option of him rotating or switching position with Suarez.

I hope Walcott doesn't move to Liverpool. He is a likeable player and could potentially be a 20 goal a season striker imo.

Inevitable, their spirit has got to be admired its not a fluke they do it so often
This guy is more sensible than most of the people in our matchday thread.

A couple of posts later though
actually hate football atm, match fixing or its becoming to cliche

Sound weekend results-wise so far, those wins for Everton and Man Utd stopped us slipping to 15th.

'Nuff said.
