The weird thing is: Why wouldn't Barca just buy these two world class defenders for £25M instead of spunking it all on someone not world class?

Skrtel and Agger, world's best centre back pairing. Johnson, the best right back in the Europe and Enrique, the best left back in the league. Lucas the lynchpin, Sturridge the best English striker, Suarez up there with Messi. Reina still one of the best in the world. Someone remind them why they are 7th again

We are a mid table side representing a club which has the potential to be represented by a side which is world class. We have the global supporter base and therefore the financial ability to compete long-term (thinking 10-20 year scale now, rather than 1-2 seasons) with Man United.

And there was Cider slagging United fan's 2023 plans, when Liverpool who have an even greater history, are thinking 2033!?!

Reminds me of the Calvin & Hobbes cartoon. He's doing a project with a girl, who is less than impressed with his intelligence and application. He says something like, "You calling me stupid? You know the way Einstein had bad grades in school? Well, mine are even worse!!"
 
We have been for years, what we need is a manager to be given a bit of time to change that around instead of sacking everyone at the end of the first bad season (Hodgson apart, he would have taken us down).

'We are an inconsistent side that can beat the best but then the next week will lose against an organised but mediocre side (not that the EPL teams are that mediocre). It's been like this for years. We can play good football but there's something missing........a mentality that treats every game the same way with a will to win. It's almost as if at times we feel that the other team will lie down and let us win. Sometimes I think we would do better if we could only play the top 6 teams.'

This made me laugh. Hadn't they not beaten a single side in the top 8 until last week when they beat Spurs?
 
If the title is Everest then we are at base camp right now, and we have the lungs and equipment to make it to the top. Spurs are at Camp 3 with Arsenal, but Spurs don't have the equipment or the lungs to climb any higher than camp 4. Arsenal probably can make it to camp 5. Neither can match our potential or equipment long term. Arsenal could in the past (we still had the potential to reach a theoretical higher summit which they did not, which now exists as the rent boys and City have moved the goalposts). The key will be to make the right decision at board level in three years or so. Is Rodgers going to take us any further, and if not - who is, without that person having to start from base camp again

By Top6, I reckon he means from position 7-12 in the premier league....so they're winning THAT league.
 
our position will say yes,unless you mean it in some dismissive way, however we are* never just anything, which is why people will join this club because of who we are* and not where in the league we are.

What RAWK dont realise about their alternate reality fantasies, is that the alternate reality United signed Ronaldo back, Bale, Wilshere and Lewandowski, and the alternate reality Chelsea signed Cavani, Falcoa, Neymar, and Baines.

So in their alternate reality fantasies they would still end up mid table.
